I appreciate the level of communication provided by my daycare and look forward to the photos they share on a daily basis! Pros I love the Meal Schedule - helps to plan our meals at home and I appreciate knowing how much my child has eaten at daycare. Email Communication - I like having a separate internal communication tool within HiMama instead of having to email from my regular account. Photo Albums & Adding Crew Members - Love these features but would like the ability to download all photos from the albums I've created at once instead of having to select each individual photo. Cons Would like to have Snacks included instead of just the Lunch Schedule to know what fruits/snacks he is enjoying throughout the day, not just at lunch time. Was she happy? Is she eating? Is her diaper being changed? Did she take a nap? Did she have a good/bad day? If I could only see her I would know how she is doing. The HiMama app relieves all these questions for me. I love that all this information can be updated to me. The care givers can let me know what they had to eat, when they took a nap, toilet breaks and (my favorite) the ability to send photos of activities and games they are playing and even videos! I love being able to see her face throughout the day. Another great feature is the messaging. The caregivers are able to send supply needs and even tell me if my daughter is feeling ill or had a fall and can send the incident report to me. This is a fantastic platform. Thank you. Pros I love that the care givers can send me photos and videos of what my daughter is up to (activities, crafts, trips). I love being able to see her face and see that she is happy. Cons I can honestly say that I have not experienced anything that I think could use some improvement on. Getting to see the smile on my child's face and knowing that she is having a good day, makes my day better. It's wonderful to be able to add family and friends to our crew as well. Those who do not get to see her regularly also get to watch her grow. Another great feature is the communication ability. As parents, it is great to know that we have immediate contact with her school at any time of the day. If we have questions or if they have any announcements or concerns, we know right away. Cons No matter how many times I select the log in on my desktop to remember me, it never does :( Not that this is a huge deal, but it would make it more convenient. And yes, I have it saved in my internet settings, and it works on other sites. I do use the app on my phone as well, and this always remembers and keeps me logged in. The phone app is great! I recommend it to all of my crew so that they can see her pictures at the of each day all in a row. No need to open each email, just open and scroll. I can see what my son is doing whole day with continuous updates of photo/video. I can message his care provider and get message from his care provider. Any other updates related to him is centered at one place. I don't need to dig/search my email box for any updates from his care provider. Cons I didn't explore this app too much so I am not sure if this feature is already present. I would like to categorize notifications. I don't like to get all notification for his regular photo/video upload. but on the other hand I would like to receive notification for critical information. for e.g. information for some upcoming event, child sickness etc. so if I turn off notification from app I dont get any notification. The technical support is amazing and we were able to help push through the "parent sign in" feature that supported us through changing state regulations. My sales rep still checks in to make make sure we do not need anything. The webinars and help center are so in depth and helpful! They have Educators on staff to make sure it is teacher friendly! I think that in itself speaks very highly for the company! Pros Hi Mama is very easy to learn and train staff on. It is set up so our teachers and staff are saving time in entering information and using their time to be with the children! Their messaging system is easy to use and very fast! We were able to both text and email parents when snow hit and we needed to close early. Our Parent and Teacher communication have grown considerably! Cons There are a few options we really need like CACFP collecting. As a child care using the Food Program it would save me a ton of time weekly by having a printable report. I also really do not like the check in process. It is a list of names which is a problem for some parents. We have a group of Foster children that should not be on a list seen by everyone so we are currently not able to use this function. I really wish they would let parents enter a 4 digit code and check in all their children at one time. This would also allow security and no list to scroll through! Pros Easy to navigate, locate historical photos/journals, etc. Functions appropriately... easy to email teachers and staff. Teachers respond promptly, so I assume the software fits into their daily schedule nicely. Cons I wish I could email/message photos to myself and other family members. Or it would be great if it connected to social media and I could upload daycare photos of my kids to share with family and friends. Would also be nice if you could bulk download photos and store them or send them somewhere. I plan at some point to go back and save all of these photos to my home computer and other photo apps for safe keeping... but I've been putting it off because it's not an easy task and it will take awhile. Pros I like that it tells me when there are new photos of my child. Cons The photo and video functionality is kind of terrible to be honest. The photo behavior isn't consistent for each area that you can open a photo from and the photo interaction is super barebones. There's no easy and obvious way to save photos down to my gallery from the app in original quality and the same goes for videos. If I get notified that I get a new photo, I'll click the notification (iOS) and it'll take me to a page for my child that then lets me click on the supposed new photo, but then it just brings up a blank picture. Pros We love how our email notifications include pictures and updates directly from the app so we dont always have to login separately to see those goodies. I believe there’s lots of work for the team to do to develop a strong and broadly used app. I am willing to support it by providing more feedback and being the focus group. One more aspect that concerns me somewhat: considering children’s pictures are uploaded - how strong is the security of the product? Pros I really like the idea of centralized and structured system to see all the info about my daughter’s activities, curriculum, menu, photos and important updates. I do sign in on a daily basis to see how my kid is doing in that part of day that she’s not with her parents. Most favourite part - photos and videos. Cons User Interface and experience are extremely limited, not friendly and lagging very much behind the industry standards (light design, streamlined flows, integration with other applications). Also, there’s a huge limitation by how the daycare’s staff manage the app - in one place they may upload lots of info and updates while in the other the may be a photo or two per week and no other substantial updates. It is an amazing tool to track the daily activities of my child, including her meals and snacks, bathroom routines and naps, and her ongoing learning and activities. The use of pictures and videos with the descriptions is really awesome. The layout of information, whether through the app or website, is also easy to follow. I am a huge fan! Pros I love the ease-of-access through the website and the app. HiMama allows me to remain in contact with my childcare provider and easily see/view activities throughout the day.
