Cons There have been a couple of times when my account was "locked" after submitting my routine hours, but then still locked when I tried to log in the next day. I notified accounting and they fixed it both times, but it would be nice to be able to log in for a new day even if a submitted timesheet was in process. January 8, 2024 5.0 We needed a new solution for timekeeping and Buddy Punch came through! Onboarding and integration was so easy. Once I figured out all the setting options, it's really easy to customize to exactly what you need. Employees love using it because it's so straight forward to use. Pros The system is user friendly and all my staff say its so easy to use. They love it! Which is a huge improvement from our last solution. I like that time off requests can also be handled within the same system. Cons There are a couple reports that I would like to see a bit more detail or formatted a little differently, but that's a wish not a need. It's very functional, just a couple things that could be nice to make it even more efficient. Staff can clearly see their hours and submit for approval after they review. It allows for accuracy and transparency. Pros The time tracking part of the app and desktop versions is easy to use and was integrated fairly rapidly for staff. I especially like the report systems which include detailed reports breaking down time to the minute for full transparency. Time card approval and tracking PTO along with scheduling PTO is clear and easy to do. This system has made payroll so much easier overall. Cons For rural areas, if you don’t have a good WiFi or cell connection then you can’t clock in or out while “offline”. That being said, it has a note system that staff can add to so that Admins can edit their time punches. It would be nice if they could submit a later punch and admins can just approve it so that they don’t have to edit but it isn’t a deal breaker. As mentioned earlier, the ease of use of BuddyPunch is what separates it from a lot of competitors. Pros BuddyPunch makes employee time tracking very easy. Employees just need to be within a geofence (if one is set up) log in and punch in/punch out. They don't have to jump through endless steps for something that should be straightforward. The user interface is also very user friendly. Cons When integrating hours from BuddyPunch to QBO, it'll sometimes error out and you'll have to go back in a submit the hours that it did submit the initial time. It does not happen a lot, but when it does you just need to be sure to catch it to ensure all hours are submitted accurately. We configured the solution, employees and deployed the system in 2 days for 40 employees. The system doesn't require a permanent admin, it's easy to use and admin and the custom payroll report Buddy Punch implemented has been a big help to integrate to our payroll system. It is FAR superior to the paper clock-in sheets we previously used. (And my supervisor has told me how much easier it is for him to keep track of his employee's hours since switching to Buddy Punch). Pros I love how quickly you can log in to the Buddy Punch site and just simply hit the "Clock In" button. The program is incredibly easy to use and required no training at all, which I really appreciated especially since I'm just a very part-time employee who only uses it once a week.It's also really nice to be able to see your cumulated hours for that pay period displayed clearly right next to the "clock in/out" button, so that you can anticipate how much your next paycheck will be (which is great for those of us with irregular working hours who may lose track of how many hours we've worked that pay period!) Cons The only (minor) con is that it seems like the clock-in page times out fairly quickly. Which is understandable, as it probably does that for security reasons. But sometimes if I only work for an hour or two, it would be convenient if the clock-in/clock-out screen was still up so I didn't have to log back in. But again, this is very minor. Co Administrator Individual & Family Services Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Buddy Punch Review" December 22, 2020 5.0 I had used other more expensive systems at previous employers and Buddy Punch has be more than sufficient for our size of business. It is easy to run the reports- PTO, location of services, and the geofence. My favorite time in option was the facial recognition- the main problem with it was if someone had a beard and then shaved it or got a major change in hair styles we had to take their picture again. Pros Buddy Punch is easy to set up and use. Once staff is set up in Buddy Punch they are able to manage their time cards with min assistance. We have used the facial recognition and the scan code- The facial recognition works the most consistently. It is pretty self explanatory for staff to be able to put in PTO for approval and add notes if they need a time adjustment because they forgot to time in or out. There are several reports we use including the location worked, pto, and the location of timing in or out. We had staff that would time in or out from their car on their phone when they were to time in and out on the computer. We were able to monitor that and reinstruct the staff. Cons When an employee needs to be removed from the active payroll it takes a few weeks for the persons name to be moved to the inactive list. We tried using the QR codes for timing in and out but the staff would forget their card, the computer would not recognize the card or if their was a poor light, it would be difficult to get it read. Reason for choosing Buddy Punch We have not considered other products because Buddy Punch has met our needs and they are frequently sending out emails with improvements to the program. Also in regards to the inactive employees, you are not charged for inactive users but you'll still see a time card for them in case they had any time worked for the pay period or if you wanted to add any manually.
