Such as random deposits/deductions from our bank account with no explanation as to what it was for. Missing tax accounts and never figured out or notified us for months- that payments were being withheld- but we had no account set up for withholding- to deposit tax payments in. BuddyPunch was withholding city taxes for months- when I told them we were not responsible to pay into said city from the beginning. I felt like I had to alot of the set up work for BuddyPunch- when we were paying for them to handle payroll- which includes the taxes involved. Now we are stuck with reimbursing employees for taxes that we told BuddyPunch were not supposed to be taken from our employees. I, literally, had to reach out to 2 different local tax agencies to prove that we were not to be paying taxes into Holmesville Ohio. Pros live chat option. In the beginning the live chat option was very helpful and I felt like there was always someone there to help me. Cons Seems like rep does not fully read question and only responds to half of what my questions are. I have to follow up with another question- because only half of what I asked was answered the first time. It is not difficult to find what I need. It does everything our small business needs - easy scheduling, tracks earned time off, and clocking in and out is easy for our employees to use. Cons My only issue with Buddy Punch is that it does not communicate hours with Quickbooks Online very well. I have to manually make edits to overtime because they don't communicate well. We already used Quickbooks online, and I didn't want to change our payroll system to Buddy Punch since this was already established. The customer service always was available to help answer my questions. It allows me to have a more accurate payroll with time breaks and exact punch-int/punch out times. Pros Buddy Punch made tracking time this summer through punching in and out daily super easy — I was able to easily clock in from anywhere (my PC or my phone \[through the app\]. It was user-friendly and was easy to access...making it less of a hassle or cause of unnecessary headaches to punch in and punch out each day. Cons The only issue that I came across this summer school session with punching in or punching out is that Buddy Punch did not provide a way to request a change of time if a punch-in or punch-out was missed. I know that I would not have access to making changes since that was up to my administrator or designee, but to at least request a change would have been more convenient than having to email my administrator/designee separately. Furthermore, we have Job Codes, which are labels for time. You create them, assign them to employees, and then employees can punch in and out of them creating subtotals based on category you mentioned. CV Clarissa V. counselor Hospital & Health Care Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "it's fine for managers who don't trust staff to work" September 17, 2025 4.0 it's a good way for micromanagers to micromanage, however it does not account for the time spent trying to log in to punch in or punch out and now HR has us punch out to the the minute so even if we are in the building and talking to clients or staff in the building we are no longer getting paid as the punch out minutes are not rounded to nearest 15. so we have to sit and start at the minute hand to get our full time in. Pros I have been working with payroll time keeping systems for over 35 years. Buddy Punch is intuitive for users and it produces usable reports. At my present company, we've found the paid time off feature to be especially helpful. And, biggest plus for me is that the Buddy Punch team has been very easy to work with and most accommodating. Cons I have yet to encounter an issue that doesn't have an easy resolution. If there was one thing I'd change it would be to provide a custom report writer. Pros It is easy to use and almost everything is available on the app. Another great feature is that you don’t have to have a very strong connection to clock in or out, just as long as you have a moment to let it load. Cons My paystubs and tax information is not available on the app so I must navigate to a website which is not as user friendly for mobile. Certainly not the worst or even bad, this is literally the only thing that I don’t like. Also payroll gets sent out much later than our previous punch system which is not great for me personally.
