Chargebee has been a strong backbone for our subscription operations. Once everything is configured, it runs reliably and gives us peace of mind on billing, revenue workflows, and reporting. The flexibility is a real asset, and support has been responsive when we needed assistance. Overall, it has helped us streamline our subscription management and scale in a more structured way.

Pros

I really appreciate it allows us to manage multiple entities under a single umbrella account. The structure is clean and intuitive, and it’s surprisingly easy to configure complex subscription setups. The level of customization is excellent: you can easily adapt billing, invoicing, and workflows to match your internal processes without relying heavily on engineering.

Cons

Some advanced configurations can feel a bit overwhelming at first. The platform is powerful, but navigating certain settings requires time and experimentation, especially when dealing with multientity setups or edge case billing rules. A bit more in-app guidance would make this even smoother.

Overall it is intuitive to use and it does everything we need. We only talk to them when they're trying to upsell us though.

Pros

That it can accommodate a fairly extensive product suite. We have hardware one time fees and software subscription, so it can be a little complex. Chargebee can handle it all.

Cons

Just little things. Figuring out how to add additional functionality. Not being able to charge customers at the end of the month.

Pros

I like that Chargebee automatically handles the billing and payment retries, as well as the communication with customers about upcoming payments. I like that it integrates with multiple different payment gateways, which allows us to accept a variety of payment methods. I like that I don't have to have a dedicated team of developers working on maintaining our own billing system.

Cons

It can be somewhat challenging to set up and grasp initially. The platform isn’t very beginner-friendly, so new users may need some time to understand how everything works before they feel comfortable using it.

### "Very Useful and Easy Payment System"

Overall, I have had a great experience with Chargebee. In the early days, it did take some getting used to and there was lots to learn about it but now, I find it a great and simple system.

Pros

It's very easy to set up subscriptions. There are lots of checks when setting a subscription up so that you can check that everything is correct before sending it live. Checking and resending invoices and understanding credits is very simple which is great.

Cons

Adjusting subscriptions can be difficult. Often we have to cancel and reset up a subscription rather than simply editing the current one.

Pros

I love how easy it is to grab a link to a plan when I'm in the middle of a call and process payment when a buyer is ready on the spot. Having that functionality helps me move sales along faster and more efficiently.

Our experience with Chargebee has been nothing short of a nightmare. The first implementation consultant we were assigned was utterly incompetent, providing no solutions and merely directing us to irrelevant API documentation. They showed no interest in understanding our use case or reviewing our documents and user flows. During our weekly calls, I was left to fend for myself, presenting configurations that didn’t work and proposing solutions that were met with dismissive responses. It became painfully clear that this consultant, an external contractor, was more interested in passing the buck than in providing any real assistance. Our pleas for help fell on deaf ears, with emails left unanswered for weeks on end. When we requested a new implementation consultant, we were unaware that this was merely a symptom of a larger problem: Chargebee’s complete disregard for their customers. Our second consultant was a breath of fresh air, taking the time to understand our use case and helping us find a working solution. However, the migration package we purchased was a complete waste of money, offering little more than a suggestion to read the error messages and make the necessary changes. Fast forward to today, and we are still grappling with an open ticket from \[sensitive content hidden\]. The configuration that Chargebee sold us has proven to be a complete disaster. Following an update in August, our instance has been plagued with errors, causing serious issues for our customers. To add insult to injury, we were informed that the features of the solution we purchased nine months ago do not work together. This was news to us, as none of their documentation suggested this. Despite presenting examples of both successful and failed system operations, Chargebee has failed to provide a replicable explanation of our current configuration’s behavior. The most alarming part of this ordeal is the frequency with which we have had to chase them for updates, only to be met with silence, followed by a call in which we are blamed for not testing the configuration properly. Chargebee has refused to provide a written explanation of how the code should behave to this day. They have refused my ask to further go over our examples and truly understand our use case. If you’re looking for a service that will lie to you, ignore you, and treat you like a fool, then look no further than Chargebee. Their approach to customer service and business conduct is nothing short of appalling.

Pros

It is quite intuitive and easy to use.

Cons

The team at Chargebee has proven to be nothing short of a disaster. They treat you with utter disregard, blatantly lying to you and leaving your emails unanswered for weeks on end. When you finally manage to get a response, they lure you into a call under the pretense of prioritizing your concerns, only to leave you in the lurch once again. This vicious cycle of neglect continues unabated, while you are left to deal with the fallout of their incompetence, losing customers in the process. Their behavior is not just unprofessional, it’s downright disgraceful.

Despite not being able to afford many of the features our package is still totally fit for purpose and has helped our business grow since we were founded, and the cusotmer support is incredible.

Pros

This system is very simple to use and makes setting up subscription management for a tech start up simple. It provides great customer overview and we have it integrated using APIs and zapier into our CRM as well directly into our app to ensure that access and user numbers are controlled by whether a cusotmer has an active subscription.

Cons

There are a lot of amazing features that you can only access with much more expensive plans.

### "Everything is in there"

Good. We used to do manual invoices separate from credit card invoices. Having a single billing systems improves efficiency and we have a single source of the truth with respect ti critical business KPI's.

Pros

I like that we can also do quotes from the system that customers can accept and it takes them to the checkout. Huge time-save for our sales team.

Cons

It's hard to do price indexation to subscriptions. It generates credits and credit notes that our customers initially don't understand without us explaining it.

Chargebee was more simple which suited are business. Chargify was good too. Conceptually they can address complexer issues but it also makes it harder to implement. They could also not support future billing.

It is fantastic software for automating accounting processes, reducing manual work, and eradicating possible paperwork. All accounting information is stored in the software, and it is easy for the accounting team to access this information, generate reports, perform in-depth analysis, adjust payments, and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, among others. It is the best accounting software we have found; our experience has been excellent.

Pros

I love Chargebee for many reasons, the most important being that it allows us to streamline all the organization's transaction recording, which always involves a lot of money; at the same time, it helped us improve our previous shortcomings in generating reports. It has features and functionalities that save us time and make our daily accounting work more accessible, allowing us, among many other things, to import the account statement, perform in-depth analysis, and have control of all expenses; in short, it simplifies the entire accounting process, from purchases to the general ledger and accounts receivable and payable. Best of all, it is not difficult to use, and adapting to the software does not require much training.

Cons

There is a learning curve at first, primarily if you have yet to use accounting software; however, we have overcome that curve quickly and get great use out of the software daily.

The business problem we are solving with Chargebee is managing our Subscription-based billing and invoicing. It has streamlined it very well for us, bar a few hiccups here and there. The support has been tremendous and it has overall been a pleasant experience.

Pros

I loved the interface, and how easy it was to set things up for our subscription-based billing. Some of the things I really liked are creating plans, coupons, add-ons, sending payment links, updating invoices and customer info, AND how all of these work seamlessly with each other.

Cons

I would have liked more customisation in terms of invoicing, for eg: set a subscription and add add-hoc line items in it in the middle of the subscription cycle. Another thing which could be improved is the integration with our CRM (Hubspot). Plenty of times, the deal creation from Chargebee to Hubspot either didn't work, or worked differently from the expected behaviour, in spite of setting things up as instructed.

If I could do things over again I would have selected a similar provider even if I was forced to pay several hundred dollars per month it would have obviously been worth it. Now I have to make the decision of whether I want to potentially lose over half my subscribers again like the last time I switched billing systems (to Chargebee) or accept that I'm locked in for life.

Pros

Easy to set up and has a good API. Support is good and fast response so long as the issues are simple and don't involve anything technical.

Cons

The backend system is grossly unoptimized to the point many of my customers cannot be billed anymore. I was not informed of these issues when signing up and was promised that the system would be able to handle my very specific usecase. It clearly can't despite me giving them actual numbers. I've already lost over $6000 in charges I can't add to my customers' invoices and a few thousand dollars in invoices that can't be generated. For the past two months I've been unable to add charges for any of my customers and keep getting the runaround by different support agents as to what the cause is. First I was told I was violating a 150 API calls per minute limit despite the fact that not a single call had gone through successfully in the entire time period they were citing but also I'm skeptical of because each API call I make to their service takes between 2 and 10 seconds to complete. Now I'm told I need to batch things weekly because adding charges to my customers is too taxing on their CPUs. Billing line items should scale linearly but it is clear from how quickly their API bogs down that it scales exponentially for them at best and likely even worse. I never had this problem with my previous provider and they aren't even a billing or invoicing company.

We are efficient in new client onboarding and subscription processes because of Chargebee. We were manually raising invoices before but with Chargebee the process is simplified and very effective.

Pros

We have a SMB and Enterprise Sales team and use Chargebee for accounting and subscription purposes to great effect. Invoicing a new client is very easy and UI is super fluid. We have raised a couple of tickets when we encountered bugs but their Customer Success team got in touch with us and solved it within a day.

Cons

There were bugs (duplicate invoice created, client email not registering etc) these happen more frequently than we'd like. It's not that much of a problem because they get resolved super quick

Pros

I love that Chargebee allows young startups to get their feet under them before charging them. The integration into Braintree was SUPER easy and we haven't really had any problems with it since we started using it. It allows us to manage subscriptions without building our own dev dashboard to do that and gives us much more flexibility than Braintree for doing so. We use coupons to run promos and Chargebee makes that super easy. We use their hosted page for payments inside of an iframe and that has been helpful as well. Again the biggest thing as a young startup is not having to build all of that ourselves or asking the dev team to make changes every time we need to address an issue. Overall I've been very happy with Chargebee and we plan to continue to use them moving forward.

Cons

I'd love for the reporting dashboard to be a little more robust and user friendly. It's not bad but it could definitely be better. Being able to accept multiple currencies could also be handled better, but we get by just fine with the way it's set up. It makes you change your password every 90 days, which is annoying to me but I guess it's more secure...

Pros

The system is fast and provides a great development experience.

Cons

The changes to the platform's product catalog means that switching to the newest version is a lot of work. As the older version is still supported, this is not a big deal however helping with the migration would be very welcome.

Great integration with Salesforce Great for multi-entities Many useful features and overall ok product

Cons

The renewal team will rip you off : they will charge overusage fees (Over 12K per month on a 3K /month contract) with 0 notification sent, 0 approach from the account manager. Once you try to renegociate, they don't want to use the overusage fees (36K in our case) to pay off the new contract. Never had such an experience with any saas and we consume hundreds of them

Chargebee is the best billing and recurring tool I've ever used. The interface is clean and easy to use, plus it has a lot of features that make it worth the price. I love that they have integrations with so many other platforms, like Slack or Zapier. It's really helped us save time on our billing process in particular.

Die Automatisierung und Integration in Zahlungsabwickler wie Stripe funktioniert gut. Top Auswertemöglichkeit für die gängigen SaaS KPIs.

Cons

Für unser B2B Geschäft ist die Individualisierung der Abos nicht ausreichend. Außerdem sind die Prognosefunktionen für Umsatz etc.nicht gut.
