### "A EMR Tool and So Much More"

September 24, 2025

4.0

Overall, I am very pleased with this data management system, and I am quick to recommend SimplePractice to others. I really like the referral system; one of my colleagues referred me, and I am doing the same for others.

Pros

Someone asked me what I like the most about SimplePractice, well, let me start with the fact I have a one-stop shop of ease with appointment management, and it is one of the best for the value for the money. For starters, as a new practice owner, it gave me the option to create a professional website and access to professional learning about the software and amazing tools that they are adding to help me streamline my practice even more.

Cons

What I like least is getting accustomed to using a chatbot for tech support. The chatbot has been on point, but this is taking some getting used to. The one time I actually had to speak with a team member/customer service person, they were professional and handled my referral issue with ease.

### "Best EHR for solo providers"

November 11, 2025

5.0

I have used SimplePractice for five years and have had very few issues. Their team is easy to communicate with and respond quickly to help solve the problem.

Pros

It truly is simple to use. It offers all the features I need as a medical provider: customizable templates, ability to add various codes, built in billing, analytics, secure messaging, questionaries which can be scheduled to be sent to patients prior to each appointment.

Cons

The cost has increased over the years which I understand to some degree is due to new features, however, I do not need most of the features they have added as a single practitioner.

### "Not Good at all, stay away from this company"

August 9, 2025

1.0

My experience with SimplePractice was not good at all. I will purposely and actively warn others to not use this service.

Pros

There really was not anything about this platform that I liked. I thought initially the layout seemed more intuitive but as I started using it, it clearly was not.

Cons

I’ve been unable to reach SimplePractice support despite multiple attempts. I had a meeting scheduled for 10:30 AM, but no one showed up, and there’s been zero communication. This is unacceptable for a platform that professionals rely on to run their practice.

### "Great software to keep EHR simplified"

January 26, 2026

5.0

Pros

I loved the simplicity and prefilled templates, this software was very user friendly and integrated well with external calendar and payment processing. Switching to another EHR system was seamless.

Cons

The price is what I liked least about SimplePractice and some templates were too general and not specifically tailored to my family practice specialty.

### "Good for Some"

December 13, 2025

4.0

It’s a great tool for some, but we determined it was not the best for our company. It is expensive and the benefits did not outweigh what we were missing that other EHRs had.

Pros

It’s amazing for practices accepting insurance from traditional insurance companies. The user interface for both the client and clinician are also amazing.

Cons

The reporting side is lacking compared to other EHRs for Therapy practices. There is also no way to use non-traditional insurances and still pull reports for how much that company owes.

### "Save yourself SWITCH before you start"

October 13, 2025

1.0

Little to no support. You can wait days for a response if any from tech support. No way to organize files. Tracking anything is a nightmare. Requests for simple changes are ignored.

Pros

It is easy to use: Billing is simple. Appointments are easy for patients. Setup was simple. The mobile app is ez.

Cons

In the long run it just doesnt handle what even a small practice needs. It does not manage communications, or paperwork.

### "A great system for practice management - but not for MY group practice."

January 15, 2025

3.0

In the beginning we were excited about the prospect of moving to this system, but ultimately, it did not meet our needs and did not offer the flexibility to adapt the features to accommodate. I believe it would be a great option for an individual in private practice, but did not work for us as a larger group practice.

Pros

We moved from a system that was very antiquated and simple to this platform and so the features that it offered were new and exciting. We were able to manage electronic documents digitally which we had never done before, run reports, manage schedules all in one place, and claims and billing were all in one place.

Cons

Because it is a system built to accommodate any type of practice, it did not work for our unique and specific needs. We had many issues with reports processing correctly, were losing information, and there were inefficiencies in the way that claims and payments processed and posted.

Switched from

[TherapyAppointment](https://www.capterra.com/p/110508/TherapyAppointment/)

Because the new version of the program we were in would not allow us to integrate our old records and was not efficient enough for us to choose it as our primary EHR if we had a choice.

### "A modern secure practice system."

December 20, 2024

5.0

It was pretty easy to set up and I'm still continuing to find extra features they offer. I like that they take cyber security seriously. I'm not sure why there are negative reviews about customer service as they have been quick to get back to me.

Pros

The calendar is great, easy to use and you can see the times client's are scheduled. You can set up notifications to be alerted about appointment times. The customer service has been helpful and they are quick to get back to me. They offer a lot of great features.

Cons

I would prefer more customizability with the invoices and Superbills.

### "It was great when it was great, I guess!"

December 21, 2024

1.0

I have had Simple Practice for over 3 years. At first things were lovely, little connection and tech issues and the it was a very reliable system to use. Once SP increased there prices, the quality of the telehealth functions severely decreased. Even my clients make jokes about how unreliable the telehealth features are. I am almost embarrassed to continue using the software. Effective 1/1/2025, I will be leaving SP and going to Carepatron. I am excited about this change as the prices are great (more than $60 less per month) with more features, including AI integration. They also have the option to use ZOOM which is synced with their platform. I am excited about the change and simply can no longer support Simple Practice. It was great when it was great, I guess!

Pros

Calendar sync, scheduling, user friendly, payment options, Stripe integration, client portal, templates available.

Cons

Technology extremely unreliable, constant connect issues, non existent customer support, price is very expensive ($99 per month) and system issues at least 4 to 6 times per week.

### "Charged me - then said I was "risk", terminated no refund!"

June 23, 2025

1.0

So I signed up for this software a month ago and had fun trying it out. Everything checked out. When the trial ran out, I purchased a month for 55$ and filed an insurance claim on 2 appointment dates for a patient. Later that day, my son added his Chime account to the Online Billing setting of our control panel, and it said we were verified. The next day, we received an e-mail saying our account was "under review", and today we got notified that our account was being terminated with no refund. These people didn't even give an explanation.

Pros

Simple layout and easy to use design.

Cons

Terminated me for no reason, and refused to give a refund.

### "Profit First & Monopoly Goals"

January 2, 2025

1.0

SimplePractice bought out my long-time EHR Luminello in 2023 and eliminated Luminello in 2024, taking over their customers. They offered Luminello customers a "special deal" with a "lower rate" for the first year. Upon looking up SimplePractice's rates on their own website, I discovered that the "deal" that they offered us was MORE than their regular rates, not a discount. They also consistently raise prices for their current customers at well above market increases and charge extra for very basic features that are included in other EHR's basic plans. I have also heard unfavorable things about their privacy practices (i.e., selling aggregate client data for profit). Finally, in 2024 they bought out Track Your Hours, including Track Your CEUs, another product that I had been using for years (for free!), and then proceeded to shut down that product as well. I assume they offer a similar feature in their EHR and did not want any competition. They seem to be trying to create a monopoly on all mental health related digital companies so that they can charge as much as they want.

Pros

I have had multiple dealings with SimplePractice, but (to be fair to them) my ratings are not based on using their EHR, but rather their business practices. I have nothing good to say about them.

Cons

Their focus on profit at the expense of ethics and customer/client satisfaction.

Switched from

[My Best Practice](https://www.capterra.com/p/242271/My-Best-Practice/)

I was forced to make the switch from Luminello when SimplePractice bought out them out. I immediately switched to another EHR (Sessions Health), which I have been happy with (I also tried My Best Practice, but it wouldn't let me select Luminello as the product that I switched from).

### "The name says it all"

September 6, 2024

5.0

Overall, I am 1000% satisfied. I could not see myself going to another platform. I've researched others and I've talked to friends and colleagues who use different platforms, and the others are not a match for SimplePractice at all. They came up with the perfect name for this platform because it does make running my private practice simple.

Pros

The name says it all. SimplePractice, once it is set up is easy to use, the customer support is unmatched. They listen. They have communities where you can make suggestions for improvement of the software and they make updates based on customer suggestions. They offer so many templates options for assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, polices and for so many other reasons. We can also create our own templates. They offer free trainings to all of their customers with the options to gain CE's. There is just so much I can say about SimplePractice. I know I am leaving something out, but just know this is an awesome platform and worth every penny. Even considering calendar intergrations. I thought that was something that would be a given in a platform that caters to running an office easier, but it's not. After talking to friends who are on other platforms, this is not an option they have.

Cons

I don't really have a lot of cons. My biggest drawback right now is the fact that I can't create a bulk invoice statement without deleting old ones and creating new ones. Although that is something I hate I can't do, I wouldn't consider it a major issue, because this is a suggestion that has been brought to the developers of SimplePractice, and the way they continuously upgrade and make changes to meet their customer's needs, this may not be an issue for too long.

Alternatives considered

[TherapyNotes, LLC](https://www.capterra.com/p/118981/TherapyNotes-com/)[ICANotes](https://www.capterra.com/p/17102/ICANotes/)

Reason for choosing SimplePractice

SimplePractice had more features and excellent customer service. It cost a little more, but when I compared what I would be sacrificing if I chose another option, the price was worth it. I think one of the biggest factors in my decision was the option to integrate all my calendars in the SimplePractice system.

### "Simple Practice, Not Simple for Primary Care"

October 16, 2025

2.0

I didn't have the best experience withe Simple Practice, because it was not tailored for my profession as a Primary Care Provider/Med Spa client The onboarding specialists were annoyed at times, I only had one that was helpful Overall not the best experience and they should advertise that they are more tailored to Mental Health

Pros

It was an affordable EHR It had built in templates You can e-prescribe The offered sign on discounts

Cons

It was not user friendly unless you are a mental health provider/professional; All of the templates are tailored to mental health and creating your own template for Primary Care, for example, was very tedious The e-scribe option was helpful, but also not user friendly, too may steps to electronically send medications

SimplePractice is super easy to learn and use. I love the integration with treatment planners to make diagnosis and treatment planning easier than ever. SimplePractice also allows basic integration with your personal calendars if you are a provider, allowing you to see your scheduled services on your personal calendar. 5.0

I have gotten very familiar with the company over the years and have really enjoyed the simplicity and effectiveness of the simple practice platform. I have recently also started using it from the client side, and like being able to know how everything is organized, and what to expect.

Pros

I like how easy it is to be able to access the information that I need quickly, and that it is user friendly to the point of me being able to quickly schedule and add notes to my client's charts. The Wiley notes save my life, and make me sound a lot smarter.

Cons

I like some of the templates that I have used at other companies, and they aren't universal to be able to use in other areas.

### "Overall one of the best"

April 7, 2025

Simple Practice is definitely one of the better mental health platforms I have used - it integrates a lot of different features in user friendly ways, makes documentation quick and easy, and it allows you to easily communicate with clients for services and necessary paperwork. However, I wish it would gather more analytics on clients, client insurances, assessments, and billing.

Pros

Simple Practice allows you to complete documentation very quickly and easily by toggling client information from prior notes and documentation in real time.

Cons

I would like to see more client data analytics available for providers.

SP was familiar enough to TYH that it was fairly easy to get started using it. Where I ended up moving to another platform was when there was a shift in how data was going to be collected and used, and I needed a platform that was less visually distracting.

Pros

SP was straightforward to use and had a lot of features that would be helpful for the solo practitioner as well as someone who was supervising pre-licensed folks.

### "Simple Practice - Great but pricey"

October 7, 2024

4.0

I used SP for years until they starting raising the prices quite frequently and by a lot. As a small sole practitioner it felt crazy to spend over $90/mo on an EHR when I didn't need/use a lot of the features.

Pros

It has all the bells and whistles. It's really a great product and syncs with everything you need it to.

Cons

It is really expensive compared to other EHRs out there and their customer service is ok
