ZipRecruiter is the BEST of the BEST" November 6, 2019 5.0 My overall experience with ZipRecruiter has been nothing short of outstanding. Our company has acquired 4 new software developers and 2 new sales members have been added to my team, all through ZipRecruiter! All 6 of these new employees have been crucial to the growth of our business. For that reason alone, ZipRecruiter has more than paid for itself and made our company a tremendous amount of revenue through new service and product offerings, as well as additional, qualified people to sell these new products. If you want to build a high quality team or expand your business, there is absolutely NO better tool than ZipRecruiter. Pros What I liked the most about ZipRecruiter was the ease of use and automation....and the results! We implemented ZipRecruiter at my company, and the process was extremely easy! Setting up our Employer account was absolutely no hassle, and their customer support was extremely quick to respond, professional, and helpful when we had some questions about our account. Additionally, it automatically scanned resumes to bring us the most qualified people for our new software development branch of business. We ended up hiring FOUR new software developers that have made it possible for our company to expand into the SaaS industry. It's been an awesome team building tool for us. Cons What I liked least about the software (which isn't a big deal) was their Employer Resource center didn't always work. Sometimes, we didn't want to go through the process of contacting customer service, so we wanted to access the employer resource center in their Support portal to find answers to questions for ourselves. Unfortunately, this page wouldn't load 30% of the time, so this meant delays in getting answers and requiring us to get on the phone to support. This was slightly frustrating a few times, but the performance of the software itself was outstanding and outweighed this minor nuisance. Alternatives considered [Indeed for Employers](https://www.capterra.com/p/161381/Indeed/) Reason for choosing ZipRecruiter We chose ZipRecruiter because it had a more intuitive resume search feature, as well as higher reviews. I also spoke to a salesperson that was outstanding at what they did. They sold me on this tool, and the results honestly exceeded my expectations. I get prospective job listings, but then those same jobs are also listed on all the other job boards too. Pros The 1-click apply is a nice feature. I love that there is an app for the phone available. ZipRecruiter has teamed up with Google and ADP to allow the best possible results for job seekers and those needed to hire. Cons Suggested jobs show jobs that (in job title) list keywords that do not exist in my resume (example: engineer). Jobs dismissed previously return when you search again. There should be an option to exclude jobs previously dismissed. Jobs I have already applied appear in suggested jobs, and it is not until I click on "1-click apply" that I then see "You have applied". There should be a feature to "tag" the jobs you have applied 1) at the company website or 2) from another job board (LinkedIn, indeed, etc,...). I do not want to be applying to the same role from multiple jobs, and most companies and/or recruiters post everywhere. On the mobile app (android), the jobs without the 1-click apply have issues loading the job description. I would like to be able to review the description, and then save the jobs I am interested in for when I can get to my computer and apply. Review Source Shanice P. January 28, 2021 5.0 I've used ZipRecruiter both as a job applicant and the operator of a small business looking to hire workers, and I had positive experiences on both ends. As an applicant, it was easier to use than most job sites, and I actually felt as if I was getting recommended to relevant jobs, rather than just being another number in the system. It's also far more user-friendly and less susceptible to spam/scams than, say, Craigslist. As a small business operator, this was great for finding relevant workers whose background I could actually see, rather than just receiving an anonymous email from someone who may or may not be qualified for the job. It was easy to find qualified candidates, and I didn't have to sort through hundreds of people to find the right one. Pros I love the user interface, and how easy it is to navigate both for job seekers and businesses. I appreciate that everything is categorized by job title, location, salary, etc., which makes it easy to find what you're looking for. As a business owner, it's nice to have multiple pricing plans based on your needs, and they're not too expensive considering the service you get. Cons I can't really think of anything I didn't care for about ZipRecruiter. I suppose I could complain that they're not a free service, but for the results and convenience you're getting, it's worth the relatively low price they charge. I mean, if you want a free product and don't care about wasting your time sorting through unqualified applicants, there's always Craigslist... Reason for choosing ZipRecruiter I didn't like their website or pricing structure as much, and they just didn't seem to match up to the quality of ZipRecruiter. " May 14, 2020 4.0 To start, nothing beats having a software turn out to be both easy and fun to learn, so when I came across ZipRecruiter as being a potential option for reaching candidates for open positions within the company I had to try it out. The entire process went as smoothly as you could imagine, with every step laid out with an incredible amount of detail and explanation to back it up. I was a bit nervous at first due to my lack of previous experience with hiring softwares, but that didn’t end up mattering at all because once I started to get into the groove of inputting all of the information into our company’s very first job posting, it felt as if I had known how to operate this program all along. I can’t begin to explain what a relief that was for me after having dabbled with other programs of the category and failing miserably at creating what the owner was looking for. I check in on our company account every day to see who has applied to open positions, which is another feature they have made to be easy enough for the newest of users to learn in no time at all. Pros The best part of the software was how well it does with introducing you to the way it works and takes you through each step of the process so nothing gets left to your imagination. They send updates and notifications to your email inbox that direct you to leads matching the criteria you input into your search. Cons I honestly feel as though it would be wrong to say that I have found something about this software that hasn’t hit the mark for me, because every time I have used it I have grown more fond of it and all that it does for me and for the company I work for. Pros Easy to navigate the system. All your postings are highly visible and easy to manage. It prompts the applicants to enter pertinent information on determining factors. I like the alerts that you can receive that you have applicants. Allows you to activate and deactivate you job openings to fit your needs. Pros The candidates are able to contact us directly through the site. We can make our ads stand out more, to get the right candidate. Cons The software doesn't make the candidate attach their resume. Sometimes we can't get a good feel of the candidate's overall experience because we receive a one line statement. It was supposed to make my job search easier, more efficient, and that's exactly what I wanted. Cons It did not make the search easier at all. Between emailed job lists that had nothing to do with my field and clicking on job titles that lead to another job search site, where I had to click at least once more (sometimes twice) to get to the company's application page, I was left frustrated and without any new, applicable leads for new jobs. " December 14, 2019 5.0 Overall, I love ZipRecruiter! The interface is extremely easy to use and appealing, everyones profile is very customizable, it's really easy and time effective when it comes to applying for jobs, and there's a vast range of positions listed. I've gotten multiple jobs through ZipRecruiter and I will most definitely continue to use them! Pros I love that you can customize your profile by adding things like references, desired salary, a photograph, achievements, etc. It's also really easy to use and the layout is very appealing. Nothing confusing about it! It's also soooo easy to apply to jobs with many of the applications being a "1-Click Apply". It can be so time consuming filling out applications with the same information every time, so I really appreciate that you don't have to do that with ZipRecruiter. It allows me to apply for more jobs in a shorter amount of time. Cons I think it's really cool that they have a "Suggested Jobs" tab, BUT the suggested jobs are sometimes not relevant. I've gotten job suggestions for positions that I'm not even close to qualified for. Would recommend overall to businesses. Pros I loved it as a job poster - my boss had me utilize this to aid in sourcing candidates for the startup I was working for at the time. You got a ton of leads, they were very accurate, and the site itself was user friendly - you also were notified promptly and nothing went to Spam (I think there was a good value for the money versus LinkedIn Recruiter). Cons As a job seeker, you get a ton of irrelevant and automated postings. I know you can turn these off but they're very annoying, especially when they're totally off-base or below your requirements. It feels like you're being spammed. Pros I like that ZipRecruiter offers a one click apply feature for most of their job posting. Once you setup your profile, and you setup a job search ZipRecruiter will start sending you job posting that match your search, and most have a “One Click” apply feature. This is a nice feature is you are currently working, and don’t have time to sit down and fill-out along application. Cons What I like the least is that I feel compared to other platforms, ZipRecruiter may not always have the best, high profile job offered on the platform to job seekers. Their pricing is more expensive than almost all similar competitors, but they also provide a better service, which saved us time and helped us to fill positions more quickly, thus offsetting some of the increased costs. If you are looking for highly-skilled applicants and/or applicants with very specific skillsets, then ZipRecruiter is probably your best bet because of their more advanced job criteria settings and search filtering options. Pros ZipRecruiter offers a very easy-to-use user interface with more robust functionality than any of the other job posting services that we have used. It was very simple to develop professional job listings, and the ability to copy existing postings and edit them to make other similar postings was very valuable for us. Their site search functionality is excellent and provides multiple filters to narrow down your list of potential candidates. Their suggested candidates and email notifications worked very well to proactively notify us of potential new candidates for our open positions. Cons The pricing is quite expensive compared to similar services, although the advanced features help to offset come of the increased cost by saving time looking for candidates. We received more unqualified candidates applying for our positions than we did with other similar services, which I assume is a result of how easy they make it for users to apply for jobs. The resumes that we received were in a variety of formats and file types, making it difficult to quickly compare potential candidates. However, most of the applicants are in no way relevant to the position, and we have never successfully hired a candidate from ZipRecruiter. It's not the worst tool out there, but it takes a lot of additional time and resources to wade through the junk. Pros ZipRecruiter is easy to use in general, and it's intuitive for novice HR professionals, which is great. Cons The vast majority of resumes we receive from ZipRecruiter have nothing to do with our job posting, don't meet the minimum requirements, and are from all over the country even if we specify location. It felt like constant spam mail and a waste of resources. Not to mention, ZipRecruiter is incredibly expensive versus other recruiting tools. With that being said, i've recommended people sign up to help them look for work but it just did not work for us. Pros It was easy to customize and post a job description and get resumes. I also like that I could send messages to candidates and then direct them to our online application Cons It seemed that everything we wanted to do cost more money. Even with using key words in our job titles and descriptions we continued to get candidates that did not come close to what we were looking for. It was very frustrating. When I would ask questions, it always lead to having to pay more money for the service we needed. We finally cancelled and went to another source. Overall candidate quality really depends on what kind of position you are recruiting for - wouldn't suggest it for Executive recruiting, but for anything below that you get the same quality candidate you do from any other job board. Pros It is cost effective and straight forward. You aren't forced into a 30 day contract for a job posting, if you fill/close a job you just close the job on Zip and you can post another immediately for as long as you have paid for your subscription. Resume database is pretty extensive and more user friendly than that of Indeed or CareerBuilder. Cons Pay attention to your resume view counts in the database search feature! If you have already viewed a resume, and you click on it again from the search results, it counts another view from your credits. Make sure to view all previously viewed resumes (if you didn't download) from the "viewed resumes" tab, if you view them from here it does not cost you another "view credit". The major problem with all of these sites is that there is very little personal attention. You put your resume on the sites and search for jobs and apply. But the jobs you get sent as possibilities are usually not very accurate in terms of what you might actually be looking for, and a lot of times it feels you get sent emails for potential jobs simply as advertising for the site, rather than any actual work being done to find real jobs you care about. I understand major job searching sites like this might not necessarily have time or capacity to truly help you find a job you like. But it would be nice if they could find a way to make the process more focused and intelligent, rather than feeling like you are just throwing your resume on a site and hoping for the best. Pros It is really easy to set up your profile, upload your resume, and add skills. Then the job searching tool is very effective and easy to use, and it has numerous filters to help you find the specific jobs you are looking for, including allowing you to only find jobs within a certain mile radius of your home, which is very helpful. Overall, the interface is very user-friendly, welcoming, and technologically-sound. Cons My one major criticism is with the selection of jobs the site sends you as possible jobs you might be interested in. Most of the time it feels like there is very little thought to what you are being sent, and I end up deleting these notifications almost immediately every time since the jobs aren't really what I've been searching for (but I keep getting the notifications just in case one is something I'm interested in, which occasionally happens). I wish the site would do more to find jobs tailored to what I am looking for, rather than feeling like they are spamming me with info just to remind me they exist.
