### "Gold Standard Repo"

February 20, 2026

5.0

Overall great experience. GH is still the gold standard for repos and is baked into the workflows for many orgs.

Pros

Great free tier for personal use, fast and easy to create repos and push code, Actions make deployments easy and great integrations with IDEs.

Cons

Sometimes can be noisy. Builds can run slow on occasion. Copilot use is getting a little pushy. Can have a learning curve for those not familiar.

### "An essential everyday tool"

March 17, 2025

5.0

Github is an essential tool for those who work as programmer, both alone and in a team. If you use it alone, it offers version control, access to code from web UI, actions for deployment and continuous integration. If I use it within a team, it allows you to control the work of collaborators, create pull requests and predict the impact of changes, discuss pull requests through a dedicated commenting gui, track issues and discuss them with collaborators. "Projects" is another powerful tool to manage development end deadlines in a team workflow, but even if you work alone is very useful to organize development.

Pros

My favourite features of Github are: - "issues" to track and discuss feature requests and bugs - pull requests to propose changes and discuss them in comments by dedicated UI - github actions for automatic deployment and continuous integration - "Projects" form project management

Cons

I can't find anything that doesn't fit my current workflow and my team's one.

### "GitHub Made Development Easier"

September 22, 2025

4.0

My overall experience with GitHub has been really positive. It’s a powerful platform that makes collaboration, version control, and project management much easier. While there’s a bit of a learning curve at the beginning, once you get used to it, it becomes an essential tool that I rely on regularly.

Pros

I really like how easy GitHub makes it to collaborate with others through pull requests and issues. It’s also great being able to track changes and roll back to earlier versions when needed. On top of that, I enjoy being part of such a large open-source community where I can learn from other projects and share my own work.

Cons

I think the thing I like least about GitHub is that it can feel a bit overwhelming at first, especially with all the different features and settings. Sometimes the interface can be a little confusing, and it takes some time to figure out where everything is.

### "Best code storage platform ever made"

March 2, 2025

5.0

I had great experience with Git hub which made my code easily available from any device, there was also in build deploy feature for static web application, It best and most recommended platform to learn.

Pros

It is a one of the best platform to store the code and allow team members to work on same project simultaneously without having conflicts.

Cons

As I used git hub to store my store far more there was no cons I got for it, It was very easy to learn just had little tricky to understand UI to resolve conflicts which issue was resolved in git desktop (application of git hub).

It where little tricky to understand and they where not popular yet to provide login feature like git hub has login with git hub.

### "A reliable platform to share code"

January 5, 2026

5.0

Pros

GitHub is a reliable platform to publish your code, share, and work collaboratively with your developers. I like how easy it is to track and manage software projects and resolve coding conflicts when merging your code with other developers.

Cons

User experience for non-developers can be very challenging, with concerns about accidentally sharing sensitive data (such as API keys) if the project is not set up correctly.

### "My review of GitHub"

November 26, 2025

5.0

Overall, GitHub is easy to use. There are many features that make developing software in a team environment easy. Also, it is quick to setup and migrate from other version control tools.

Pros

I like that GitHub is a very intuitive version control tool to use. There is a huge community that uses GitHub and if I ever run into problems, it is very easy to find a solution on Stack Overflow.

Cons

There is a lot of downtime with GitHub. I am unsure what the service level agreement is with GitHub but in my career as a software developer, it has gone down at least 10 times.

### "Excellent Version Control Collaboration"

March 11, 2026

5.0

Pros

The strong community support I believe is the greatest point on GitHub. Can get code reviews easily from community. It's remote friendly, I can have access to my repos from anywhere. It integrates with Azure DevOps, Jenkins and other third parties, which is great to enhance automation workflows.

Cons

No major issues found, but I'd say at the beginning found it a bit challenging with Git commands, branching and merging.

### "Much Ado about Software Managment "

April 18, 2025

4.0

Once you master the commands and get your profiles set up its a very useful tool for software management. Something that you should use lightly rather than full on as it can consume much of your time resources. Invariably you need to find and make your own mistakes as you go along with the process of learning the systems.

Pros

The user friendliness if the system is very difficult. You need to take a few courses to learn and understand and need actual practical environments to get used to the various interfaces. A complicated yet relatively simple record keeping concept. Not for the uninitiated.

Cons

Leaningbthe command line interface is extremy time consuming and inintuitive. The learning resources dont help either as its mire of an artform to understanding and you really need a season PRO to guide you theiugh the ropes.

Fantastic. It is an efficient platform for coding collaboration and a strong version control system. Peer reviews enhance code quality, expedite development, and provide effective progress tracking.

Pros

### "Quality, gold standard product "

December 29, 2025

5.0

Overall, a great experience. Similar to other products in the space, such as Gitlab and Bitbucket. No issues implementing.

Pros

GitHub is the gold standard Git implementation. Incredibly easy to use, feature-rich, easy to get started, and reasonably priced.

Cons

As with any software, you need to have an understanding of the feature-set and the task you wish to accomplish. Occasional downtime may result in minor interruptions but isn't frequent enough to be a significant issue.

### "GitHub-A hub for all your Open Source needs"

February 13, 2025

5.0

The Overall experience is Great and the features GitHub provides makes it the best in its field as it has features like code revert , pull requests which help in open source and thus it provides a great learning platform

Pros

The thing I like most about GitHub is its open source capabilities and also that multiple people can work on same code with the help of pull requests

Cons

The thing I don't like about GitHub is that it is not completely safe for important codes as it is mainly an Open source.

### "Github, great for storing code and linking it to apps like Streamlit"

April 11, 2025

5.0

I loved the theme and the ability to use 2-factor authentication to secure the account. I also liked that the website provides tips for creating a repository ie GitHub gives the users recommendations on how to upload their files and the code data by suggesting a README file. Other programmers can contribute to the code by suggesting edits or commenting errors in the code that need solving. The community is very helpful and patient.

Pros

It is easy to create repositories and link it to sites that can publish the code as an app for example Streamlit.

Cons

It can be hard to navigate for newcomers to coding.

### "Most used git tool out there"

May 2, 2025

5.0

I am very satisfied in using Github. Most of my team, customers and parterns use it. It is quite easy to share stuff here.

Pros

It is the de-facto standard tool for managing git. I go here anytime I need some piece of software

Cons

At a certain point it becomes expensive and moreover the fact that it is owned by Microsoft gives some uncertainties about it.

Pros

It is just a very good product that will not fail you, it's intuitive, complex and fleshed out. super happy with it

Cons

### "The default solution for Git hosting but might not be the best for enterprise"

January 16, 2025

4.0

Pros

This is basically the default Git hosting for software engineering. Tooling and workflows are top notch, and generally well supported with lots of information available online.

Cons

Github lacks some enterprise features, and have had some security issues (the recent outage, hacks for faking repo stars).

Alternatives considered

[GitLab](https://www.capterra.com/p/159806/GitLab/)

Reason for choosing GitHub

We still use GitLab for internal and enterprise developments, but it's less geared towards sharing publically than Github.

### "Stable & Must Experience"

December 15, 2024

5.0

Great UI UX experience, reliable and is perfect for managing projects of all sizes

Pros

The collaborative tools are excellent, and version control is seamless. Its also incredibly user-friendly for both individuals and teams

Cons

Overall, pricing may get a little bit shady sometimes in the sense of hiding features behind enterprise plan. Sometimes its really difficult to understand whats included in the plan and whats not. And generally it disappoints in this sense, because some basic features are just blocked meaningless and you just have to upgrade

Alternatives considered

[GitLab](https://www.capterra.com/p/159806/GitLab/)

Reason for choosing GitHub

I used both very often, sometimes at the same time, but when we picked Github, it was more for CI/CD simplicity & in general more features are present in Github

### "Honest Github review"

December 7, 2024

5.0

I have been using Github for many years now, and I must say it improved a lot, visually, offering lot of features and high value providing integrations. One of the most important tools for a developer. Collaboration on Github is great, the automation improved a lot, and because of so many templates, its really easy to create a pipeline for you project. Github offers lot of addition services like Copilot, which can provide a lot of value, but it will cost you. I prefer Github over Gitlab.

Pros

Lot of features, really nice UI & UX, lots of integrations which provide lot of value. CI&CD - Github actions is really great, project management inside Github repository. For smaller projects the pricing is friendly. And I would say its user friendly.

Cons

Pricing is really big con for bigger organizations, cloud gets expensive here, and I am not even mentioning premium features. Github project management is really simple here, not many features, but for simple and small projects its sufficient.

Alternatives considered

[GitLab](https://www.capterra.com/p/159806/GitLab/)

Reason for choosing GitHub

I choose Github for personal and freelance projects always, but in or company we use Gitlab because of the on-premise sollutions.

### "Github is the industry standard for version control. "

November 28, 2024

5.0

It's great and I can't imagine ever using a different type of version control. I've used it for small projects and I've used it for big projects and it covers anything you could think of for either.

Pros

Github has a ton of features. I've previously used SVN and Github is miles ahead of SVN as far as features. SVN has long been touted as "simpler" but it's actually very easy to have a simple workflow with Github as well but if you need more features you can get them. If you think of something you need you can google it and it probably already exists on Github.

Cons

Anything past a basic setup can take a very long time to learn. I've been using it for years and years and I'm still always having to learn new things about it.

Switched from

I saw a lot of people using Github for their personal projects as well as their work projects. Github also doubles as a portfolio for software engineers which helps with overall career trajectory.

Pros

GitHub makes collaborative work genuinely easier. Pull requests, discussions, and CI/CD actions fit naturally into the development workflow. For gameplay programming, where there are tons of iterations, it’s great to have everything centralized with clear visibility into the project history.
