I have been in the PACS world for over 25 year now and I've dealt with a lot of DICOM transferring solutions. The DICOM Systems Unifier is by far the best I have ever dealt with. Pros The simplicity and ease in configuring the "threads" for steering imaging data where we need it to go. Cons I haven't run into any negative aspects of interacting with the Unifier as of yet. The leadership team at DICOM Systems is top-notch and have adapted solutions and agreements to meet our unique needs. DICOM Systems is a valued and critical partner. Pros The DICOM Unifier is most useful to our organization as it allows us to create reliable and high-performance DICOM integrations between or organization and our clients. We are able to utilize the tool to create solution that cater to any and all DICOM challenge we face including tag morphing, prior image retrieval, annotations routing, among others. The workflows are easy to create and maintain, and the DICOM Systems support / professional services team is always available to assist in the creation of these solutions. The user interface is easy to understand for our support staff, allowing them to identify and solve problems real-time. Integration with any/all PACS and EMR platforms makes this an excellent "all-in-one" tool to solve most DICOM integration challenges. Cons When using the physical appliance, you need to ensure that you keep close track of the hardware support dates to maintain support and updates. Pros The software helped us already many time to troubleshoot the traffic of DICOM images and helped us to solve issues at other vendor software. Now we could prove where the issue was situated. Cons The user interface to see a specific images and the dicom tags of that serie/image could be maybe improved a little bit. Cons Admittedly I'm not educated on the latest capabilities, but it's always a challenge to use some intelligence to automatically find and move clinically relevant priors from disparate systems that use very different body part / study description labeling and implement it in a way that is not a nightmare for management in constantly evolving and growing imaging environments. Support has been very responsive and provides solutions for some of our more complex issues. DICOM systems leadership is top notch as well, we've had many changes in our environment and they've been very accommodating in restructuring our contracts. The ability of the software to manage workflows allows us to create our own fixes for problems arising from having multiple modality vendors who don't have good support. Pros The best thing about this software is the flexibility and the support. Honestly, DICOM Systems has hands down the best support team I have ever worked with. Their responsiveness and their willingness to look into any sort of workflow we have is their most valuable asset. Cons The UI is powerful, but it does require a technical mind to create new rules. Their leadership team is very easy to work with and very accommodating to the clients needs. The appliance helped us get on our way to start ingesting client data very quickly. Installation and configuration has been quick and smooth. The customer support team is super responsive and very knowledgeable. Pros Excellent customer service. The support team is very responsive and always provides solutions to resolve the problem. The Lua interface allows building complex custom translations very easily. Once you get past the initial learning curve, you realize how configurable and customizable the application is. Cons Would like to see better documentation or more thorough user manual. The current one seems too short and concise. The alerting seems limited and wish it was more comprehensive and easy to create custom thresholds and setup email alerts. Pros System allows you to adjust the modalities one time to point to the DICOM Routers and from that point it allows modalities to be moved around to destination. Easily see what has or hasn't routed also helps with troubleshooting having the ability to resend studies when they are still on the routers for troubleshooting is great! The CentOS platform is stable, support is great, and routing rules are easily configured if one is familiar with boolean logic. Pros The routers currently provide our facility with solid business continuity. I addition the routers automate the need for users to manually distribute DICOM studies to different destinations. Rock solid product that has never crashed or had issues (it just works all the time) since we implemented at our hospital. We have not taken advantage of every thing these routers can do. Cons I was disappointed that the enterprise viewer is not included with the purchase of the routers. Dicom Systems unifier was able to easily fulfill this void in the overall topology.
