### "Little Green Light and its Support Team is Great!"

September 27, 2024

5.0

We have been very happy with the flexibility and configurability of the data storage options. The data import mechanism is very powerful, and it enabled us to get up and running with rich data very quickly. The search query functionality is excellent. The product performance responsiveness is usually always very fast. The documentation is thorough. Training sessions are frequently offered. The customer/tech support is second to none: we usually get high-quality, personalized responses within an hour! And if an issue has to be escalated, we hear back from the next-level support within 24 hours. The blog posts / product updates / seasonal process reminder notification emails are always full of rich, useful content. The price is affordable. What's not to love? :-D

Pros

Full-featured functionality, very responsive and knowledgeable tech support. We have been using LGL for 4 1/2 years at a small religious nonprofit and we have been delighted with how well the product and the support team serves our needs.

Cons

There are many comes-by-default fields in the constituent records that we don't make use of, but we can't hide them. We can only collapse them and learn to ignore them.

Alternatives considered

[Funraise](https://www.capterra.com/p/154623/Funraise/)

Reason for choosing Little Green Light

(Also SupportGoal, which isn't in your list, plus a host of other CRM platforms that were even less well-suited to our needs.) LGL had rich and flexible data import functionality, LGL's database could be extended and configured to our needs, great reporting functionality, great integration with Constant Contact, great search query functionality, very responsive customer/tech support, affordable. Also, LGL was the only platform to include a testimonial from a synagogue on its website, and since we are a synagogue, it boosted our confidence that LGL would likely be able to meet our needs.

Because those earlier products weren't integrated with each other, were painful to keep manually updated, were scattered with multiple versions in multiple locations on multiple organizational and personal devices, and were no longer scaling with our growing needs. We adjusted our use of QuickBooks and Constant Contact, but continued using them.

### "Thrilled with this versatile and easy to use CRM"

December 18, 2025

5.0

Transferring data was seamless, with excellent guidance provided by LGL. Overall, I couldn't be happier that I made the switch from DonorPerfect.

Pros

We switched from using DonorPerfect. Little Green Light is very affordable (about 1/3 the cost!) even for tiny nonprofits like ours. It's easy to use, features great reports (including many available at all times on the dashboard), with lots of flexibility. LGL also has an excellent knowledgebase, live remote Q&A sessions, and a rapid response email help line.

Cons

The interface is plain vanilla, with very few visual clues to distinguish one screen from another. But I'm nit picking.

We found DonorPerfect's interface to be clunky. It has the look and feel of an outdated and non-intuitive interface. Considering our difficulty in learning and using DP, it was also quite pricey. Finally, DP's card processor, SafeSave, a subsidiary, insisted we monitor and improve our website for PCI compliance. This, despite the fact that our site never handles or sees credit card information. At first, we were provided with free monitoring and some technical support to help our very new and small nonprofit comply. However, in any given month that our website failed their test, we were essentially fined. And just before we left DP, we were informed that we needed to start paying for this service too.

### "The user interface on this product is terrible"

February 23, 2021

2.0

We are switching to another CRM.

Pros

Running reports is really easy in the software but that’s about all that I like.

Cons

As stated in the title, the user interface is not intuitive nor is it easy on the eyes. There are so many other features that could be included that would make this star star product but sadly they are missing.

Reason for choosing Little Green Light

It was chosen for us, we did not choose it ourselves.

### "Simply the best donor database software!"

August 28, 2025

5.0

I am the Advancement Coordinator for our organization. It provides me with a wealth of information that enables me to assess our fundraising activity, generate a variety of reports for our Board, and assists us organizing and communicating with our volunteer constituency.

Pros

It is by far, the most user-friendly CRM software that I've used. It makes the job of organizing and maintaining a donor database extremely easy. It synchs beautifully with Quick Books, making the gift entry process very easy. Customer support is superb. Finally, it is a great value for the money - worth every penny, uh, sorry, dollar.

Cons

I can't think of anything that I don't like about LGL. In five years of using it, I haven't had one negative experience.

### "A Low-cost, powerful tool for smaller and mid-sized organizations"

April 3, 2025

5.0

Little Green Light is great, we have rarely had any issues. We use it as our donor database, to generate tax acknowledgement letters, appeal letters for fundraising, and as a source of alumni information for our school.

Pros

Little Green Light is low-cost and perfectly right-sized for an organization of our size. It is relatively flexible and intuitive, and with the help of 3rd party tools can be easily connected to other software.

Cons

There are some limitations, and if you aren't able to build integrations that work well then it can pose a challenge to enter gifts.

Reason for choosing Little Green Light

Raiser's Edge seemed overkill, it is much more expensive and much less user friendly. The reporting tools look flashy in the way they present them, but require so much configuration to do the things that you want. There is not a lot of customizability with Raiser's Edge compared to Little Green Light.

### "LGL for long-term solutions"

March 26, 2025

5.0

I have been using LGL for many years. It is a robust and functional CRM that is affordable, particularly for small non-profits. I find it to be much better than other platforms and at a fraction of the cost. I would recommend LGL to anyone searching for a user-friendly, cost-effective CRM that has all the features to optimize your advancement operations.

Pros

I have used LGL for over a decade and have brought the CRM to many nonprofits. The platform is robust and intuitive. It has fantastic functionality and integrates with other services. I can track donor relationships, generate giving metrics, track appeals, and generate communications with ease and accuracy.

Cons

There is nothing that I dislike, but I would make improvements to the email function. Currently, you cannot schedule emails to be delivered at a specific time, and customizing emails with branding and graphics is challenging.

### "Super Affordable and Stellar Customer Service"

February 25, 2025

5.0

It's been great! Not only am I a consultant that highly recommends this product frequently, but I am also the President/CEO of another non-profit where we use Little Green Light. You just cannot beat the affordability for the full suite of usability provided. Truly haven't found anything better for the smaller to mid-size non-profit.

Pros

Using and maintaining this database is very intuitive. I've run other systems in the past that required almost a computer science degree to be successful. LGL is so adaptable, very customizable, and their customer support is the best in the business.

Cons

Gosh, it's hard to think of anything I don't like about Little Green Light. As time goes by they continue to make improvements and always seem to address my current wishes. Not quite sure how they do that but, yay. IF there was anything I could wish for I would ask that the addressee and salutation fields were a little more robust. Adding class years, and in our case degrees, manually opens the door to errors. Would love to have a customizable table that can be pulled into exports. Having a method of batch entry for gifts (other than import) would be a game changer for busier offices. Coded batches help prevent data inconsistencies.

### "LGL is a gift no one knew they needed"

January 14, 2025

5.0

Always surprised that I'm still discovering new functionality - it's a never-ending well of data capture and presentation. It's intuitive, easy to use, but really, really detailed - much more so than other databases. It's my favorite.

Pros

It's appearance of a simple database, but actually has incredible depth in its functionality. It can do sooooo much for the money spent, and has made my life easier every time I use it. I especially love Flex Importer Undo functionality!!

Cons

Its limited customization of the look of the forms. They look very basic. I wish there was more ability to change the forms' appearance (functionality is great though). I also wish it had automated emails set up to certain groups - like new constituents, etc.

Pros

I really love the forms and integrations. It is the donation platform that comes with the most bang for your buck. Importing data is a breeze and once your database is built, keeping track of giving becomes so easy.

Cons

### "Low Cost Effective Donor Management Solution"

July 23, 2020

5.0

I'm able to clean up a database that had become a hideous mess in GiftWorks Cloud. I'm able to identify and easily clear duplicate donors and duplicate gifts. (I've removed about 300 duplicate constituents so far … roughly 8% of my total database … about 100 more to go)

Pros

It's super easy to learn and use. Everything you need is built in -- the dashboard that keeps you focused on what you have (or haven't) recently raised against your goals, the basic reports (which can be customized). Donor record entry includes US mailing address verification -- yay! LGL is also clear about what it does and doesn't do. So it doesn't claim to link directly with a peer-to-peer product -- and it's also not messing up my database by uploading a duplicate entry for every single person who registers in the peer-to-peer product (which has a different default name protocol).

Cons

So far, I don't have any complaints. I'm already using features I didn't expect to (emailing directly through the system, which allows the Contact to be automatically logged in the Constituent record). I suppose LGL could be prettier. But given the choice between pretty and functional, I'll take a product that works any day.

Switched from

[Panorama](https://www.capterra.com/p/166550/Panorama/)

I was on GiftWorks Cloud for 2 years and things that didn't work 2 years ago still don't -- basic things like the state code and postal code keep disappearing randomly from constituent records. FrontStream regularly assured me that the issues I identified were "known bugs" on a list for fix, but with no defined date for resolution. In a six month period, I addressed FrontStream 24 different times about issues, almost none of which could be resolved. FrontStream had also integrated GiftWorks with the peer-to-peer FirstGiving product -- and it messed up my database by creating a duplicate entry for every single person who registered in FirstGiving, which has a different default name protocol than GiftWorks. Enough was enough.

### "LGL works for our membership nonprofit craft guild"

July 30, 2023

5.0

We used Excel before to track memberships and their renewal payments. Membership records are apart from the treasurer's job. LGL lets us both be team members and we both see the same data. No more emailing when a payment is received.

Pros

Tracking is almost effortless.Support is amazingly good and fast, even during the trial period.LGL integrates membership updating and payments with the forms. Forms let you record almost everything automatically when a form is submitted.

Cons

Integration with existing processes was very good, in fact it replaced the more problematic ones of coordinating among others responsible for different functions. The learning curve is steep, but well worth it.I wish we could have fewer categories showing that we do not use. Forms design could be more robust with colors and pictures.

Pros

the usability. Its very easy to use and edit and very organized. The pages aren't over-full of information making finding the donor I'm looking for a very simple process.

Cons

### "Great affordable option for nonprofits!"

April 25, 2023

5.0

Little Green Light has everything you need, nothing you don't, and is an excellent value for nonprofits on tight budgets.

Pros

Little Green Light offers many of the same features as much more expensive donation management software/CRMs, at a much more affordable price. Small to mid-sized nonprofits often don't have the budget to invest tons of $$ in the big-name donor CRMs, and I've found that many organizations don't need all those bells and whistles anyway. It tracks donors and donations, there's are solid events and grants management functions, you can create custom forms for event registration, donations, and other purposes (honestly almost worth the price right there), it integrates with several other common tools used by nonprofit communications & development staff (i.e. Constant Contact, last time I checked)... what more do you need? LGL was designed with nonprofits in mind (unlike some other tools out there that were originally designed for sales and only later shoehorned into a nonprofit tool) and this makes a difference. The terminology/field labels, the customer service folks, everything - all nonprofit-centric.We switched to LGL from a more expensive, but in my opinion less functional, donor CRM, and the process was pretty smooth. The worst part was cleaning up the data from our old system before loading it into LGL because our old system had not been well-maintained. The LGL customer service folks were helpful and responsive whenever I had questions, and overall it was a pretty painless experience, aside from the tedious work of cleaning up my old data!

Cons

I don't really remember any major cons. When I last used it, it had a few integrations with the most common software/tools, and probably has more now. It may not have quite as many integrations as some of the more expensive CRMs, so if those are very important to you, it's just something to check before you buy. You can probably use Zapier to set up any integrations that aren't built in.Another small thing to know - not really a con, because I think this is totally fair for the price, but just good to be aware of - is that their built-in email tool is more suited to sending event reminders, donor thank-yous, etc. than to email marketing. That isn't its purpose. In other words, don't expect to use the email function for your e-newsletter. You can integrate with Constant Contact or MailChimp (probably others by now) for that.

### "Best Donor Management Around, Overwhelming for Beginners"

August 1, 2022

5.0

Pros

There is some learning curve when you first get started but overall LGL is an excellent tool for tracking your donors and keeping tabs on their journey through your program or nonprofit donor development funnel. There's no better way to track the appeals you send to who, phone conversations and letters that go out. The API and integration capabilities are satisfactory enough making it easy to pull data from whatever source you need. If you're looking to segment your donors like a pro, set alerts so you never forget to reach out and keep them organized, LGL is for you.

Cons

LGL Forms has always been very basic and sometimes kind of a mess to set up the form and have it look nice. You're not going to get anything beautiful here. But LGL's forms tool gets the job done if you need to take a quick informal survey among your donors or something like that.

### "GREAT donor database with top-shelf features for small budgets"

August 29, 2016

5.0

I've been a fundraiser for 25+ years, primarily with very large organizations (raising $100 million+ annually), and had an opportunity to use a range of nonprofit databases, including home-grown systems and some of the best-known products from large companies. I've been through database conversions on large scales (50+ users, 25,000+ records), and advocated for and managed budgets as a member of the management team. I chose Little Green Light (LGL) after researching options for a small nonprofit where I'm the executive director. (5000 records, 3-5 database users, $350k annual budget)

Pros

As a fundraiser, it's intuitive and has all the features I appreciate and need to support my moves management work. As the database administrator, chief data entry staffer, list- and report-creator and website integration specialist, it's intuitive with great customer service and on-line resources to allow me to meet our organization's needs. Given the opportunity, I would have selected LGL for my previous organizations. It's got all of the meaningful and useful features to support fundraising and data management needs without requiring us to pay for bells and whistles that sound great to upper management (and those who aren't on the front-lines for fundraising) but keep the majority of users from being able to take full advantage of the system.

Cons

There are a lot of great integrations, but since we don't use the bulk emailing products supported by LGL, we've had to try to create our own. We LOVE the ability to create web forms that integrate with LGL and the ease of adding them to our website, although sometimes figuring out exactly how to map the data is beyond us without a fair amount of trial and error. On the other hand, these are tasks I never would have attempted with other systems and that we're able to do without paying thousands of dollars to consultants - which is vital with our very limited budget. We've got access to big-budget possibilities and investing the time and energy generally makes them possible for us. That said, without experience working with bigger systems in the past, I'm not sure I would understand the opportunities or be able to figure out how to tap into them.

### "Little Green Light brought our growing, volunteer-run nonprofit into the 21st century."

January 12, 2018

5.0

Being cloud-based, Little Green Light allows several board members to access, add, and alter donor information. This turns our database into a collaborative crowd-sourced information bank we can all use wherever we may be even on our mobile phones. The sort and search features in the reporting system are as powerful as any I've seen in far more expensive software. We moved to Little Green Light from a Filemaker Pro database maintained by a single board member. She is still our key administrator, but now she feels appreciated and supported instead of isolated. The improvement in morale alone is worth the price of admission!

Pros

Powerful and versatile, Little Green Light has all the features I was accustomed to from software at other nonprofits I've worked at including eTapestry and Bloomerang but at a fraction of the cost. The interface is highly intuitive, and LGL has shown a real commitment to continual improvement over time. I truly enjoyed the data migration process from our old system to LGL in part because we worked one-on-one with a Little Green Light consultant (Carrie Grote) who treated us as if we were her only client. If you're a startup nonprofit wondering whether or not to take the leap into state-of-the-art donor management, I strongly recommend Little Green Light. It may easily be the only software you'll ever need to track and nourish donor relationships.

Cons

There are some minor tweaks that might improve Little Green Light. For example, when a donor wishes for a gift to be anonymous, there's a checkbox you need to hunt for. But honestly, the folks at LGL are way ahead of me when it comes to finding and fixing flaws. I bet the next LGL upgrade will be light years better than anything I can even imagine.

### "Little Green Light has been great"

February 15, 2021

5.0

I and the board appreciate the various reports that can be easily generated. Because of the pandemic, we haven't been using it as much as we expected, but I still appreciate LGL: it's ease of use, clear Knowledge Base articles with easy to understand examples, and the additional support of being able to email someone. The flexibility is also great, so we truly feel we can make it as we want it rather than having to fit what we want to what the software can do.

Pros

I evaluated multiple products and highly recommended Little Green Light to my organization. It had the functionality we needed and, even though I was new to donor management software, I found it intuitive to use. Almost everything I've been able to figure out how to do on my own. A few times, I've had to use the Knowledge Base, which I've found to be very helpful. The very few times I couldn't find my answer there, I sent email and the response has always been phenomenal. I've received responses very quickly, even outside of their posted hours for responding. The help has been clear, concise, and friendly, including sometimes setting up a search for me on my account. Once, the response led me to wonder about a better way to accomplish my task but I had further questions. Again, the response was very quick and useful. I've attended multiple webinars and they, like the personalized help, were very informative, clear, and informative. I'm looking forward to what I'll learn in my upcoming webinars. The Flex Importer is very useful to us because we already receive much of our donation information as spreadsheets. We also appreciate having donations as well as volunteer information all in one place. I certainly haven't stressed LGL, but it is providing us the functionality we need with an easy-to-use interface and multiple systems of support so I'm never waiting days to learn how to do what I want.

Cons

I initially had trouble with creating a mailing because I misunderstood that a screen was a sample screen and should not be changing even though I made changes. When I used the mailer to send a test message to board members, the feedback I received was that the email address made the message appear to be spam so they didn't read it. That was over a year ago, so the system may have changed. We're a small organization and haven't needed to send emails during the pandemic.

### "Intuitive and easy to use"

April 28, 2020

5.0

Great customer service, and they are constantly evolving in response to customer need.

Pros

LGL is designed to think like you think. Instead of a system that makes the user think like a computer system, this one is designed to operate in an intuitive fashion. It is logical and even useful for right-brained people. Constituents are managed in groups which makes customization easy. Support is there when you need it (so important after a purchase) and the value for the cost is quite high. I’d recommend for any size organization.

Cons

Sometimes there are inconsistencies or anomalies which support can fix but can’t explain to me. This has happened occasionally and has made me nervous about the integrity of a report or which constituents are receiving a communication. I also wish it came with maps data, so cities and zip codes were preloaded. There is an optional address verification feature which we are considering.

Excellent investment for our organization!

Pros

Having a cloud based product is really helpful and convenient.

Cons

Getting used to using the email functionality with appeals to ensure that spouse/partner also receive emails. Just a few details that I am still learning to use.

Reason for choosing Little Green Light

Pricing; local consultant who knows the product

### "Little Green Light has transformed my ability to steward my donors and track donations. "

February 22, 2018

5.0

It's given me hours of my life back due to all the work it does automatically. It makes me look like a superstar in my job. It gives me the ability to look back on years of data and see trends and improvements. It gives me peace of mind knowing that my data is stored safely on the cloud. It gives me something to say when sales people for Salesforce come calling...and it has healed the psychic damage that was done to me by trying to make Salesforce work for us. It satisfies my love of data and databases and perfection.

Pros

I love the way it integrates online donations into my donor records -- so easy and so professional. I especially appreciate their customer support -- if I have a question, I just send an email and I get a quick reply within hours. The software is very user friendly and adaptable to my way of doing business. Clearly it was created with a great understanding of nonprofits!

Cons

While I love having the ability to track and create acknowledgements, there are some features in this area that don't fit my process. I write cards by hand, and sometimes I only get a couple done at a time. I wish I could mark them done individually rather than by batch. I also would like to have the choice of Volunteer Hours under Related Gifts--several companies, like Microsoft, donate to us for volunteer hours put in by their full time employees. And I wish that when a recurring donation fails that the donor would automatically get an emailed notification from LGL Forms.

### "Nimble !"

December 10, 2020

5.0

We have more time to more smartly cultivate potential donors (to gain insights from our data), and spend less time on data entry and maintenance.

Pros

Little Green Light is intuitive, easy to use and fast. Data entry, updates, searches, reports, etc., are all at your finger tips, accessible from a variety of ways depending on what you're doing (context sensitive). Bulk editing speeds along what used to be (pre Little Green Light) painfully slow and cumbersome; import/export functionality is easy and powerful; gives you control over your data. Little Green Light just makes getting "stuff' done fast; way quicker than a glitzier but slow-to-navigate product we previously used. Little Green Light is terrifically designed and executed; rock-solid stable; server/db response is lightning fast - usually immediate. Using Little Green Light is akin to driving a sports car. At its heart, Little Green Light is nimble. Customer support (via email) is excellent; quick, knowledgeable, helpful/friendly.

Cons

We don't have anything we don't like about Little Green Light.

Reason for choosing Little Green Light

1) It took too long to get simple things done in the product we previously used. 2) It didn't hurt that Little Green Light costs significantly less than what we were paying before, though that wasn't the prime motivator to seek an alternative.

### "A good and reasonably priced product. Used it for two organizations"

May 21, 2023

5.0

Pros

I love the feature where you can track all donor correspondence with a bcc dropbox code.It works really well to call up different subsets of donors once you know the categories

Cons

I'd like to be able to delete some of the standard fields that are designed more for schools and have it be a bit easier to add fields. But the latter is pretty easy once you know how.

Reason for choosing Little Green Light

It was much more affordable for a small organization and had really good reviews
