My experience has been disappointing. While the platform works well initially, the risk management and compliance process can result in sudden account closures and prolonged fund holds. My account was closed on Feb 28, 2025, and even after more than a year, my available balance has not been released. Despite multiple follow-ups, including escalations, there has been no resolution. I would advise businesses to carefully consider these risks.

Account closures and fund holds are a major concern. In my case, held my balance of $3,425.80 for over 1 year after account closure, despite no chargebacks or disputes. is a feature-rich payment processing platform. I found it incredibly easy to work with from an API level, providing exactly the right level of integration that I needed for my projects. The dashboard and suite of tools are so simple to use, and easy to follow. Stripe can also handle multiple currencies with ease, incredibly useful.

Simplicity in its design, rich in features for managing payment processing, invoicing and more. Low transaction fees means convenience for my business without being penalised for it. Stripes API allows really easy integration into any service or product.

Cons

generally is a great platform, however, initial business verification can hold you back, its a fairly complex process that I think could be streamlined more.

Overall experience with has been positive. Payment processing is easy. The only complaint I would have is regarding the emails that Stripe sends to notify you of a payment. It would be helpful if it gave more detail, such as what the transaction was for.

Pros

We use for processing our CC payments for our programing tickets and donations. The platform works great in combination with Foundant CommunitySuite so that payments are automatically processed.

Cons

The only complaint we have regarding is about their reporting functionality. It was challenging to find the reporting options as a new user.

has been great. We use this for conference registrations. We host 4 conferences a year so this has become instrumental in collecting payments timely. The online platform is also super easy to use.

Pros

The ease in which you can receive and auto transfer payments to your bank account. It's also super easy to provide receipts and refunds and the reporting is fantastic. I also love that we can create unique payment links and send them via email for customers to pay.

Cons

I wish would show a little bit more detail for each transaction in the reports, but really not much to complain about as that might be an issue on our end.

overall, I left services to go to something simpler in a little bit more credible for my clients. I also left to ensure the proper timeframe for receiving my funds, since customer service never had a direct answer from our first deposit when they would come.

I did not like the long timeframe that was required to receive our first set of funds, and it was not fully disclosed when making transactions which placed my family and myself in a rough spot for a moment

has a lot of helpful features, but not all of them are for a business as small as mine. I needed to be able to accept payments at vendor shows and stripe isn't the best option for that.

Pros

What I like most is the incredible flexibility and developer-friendly nature. 's APIs and customization options are really impressive, allowing me to provide an easy checkout experience for my customers. I also love their fraud detection tools and the ability to accept a huge variety of payment methods, which is great for expanding my reach

Cons

What I don't like is the transaction-based pricing. It's transparent with no monthly fees, but the percentage and per-transaction fees can add up, especially for a small business just starting out. I also wanted more in-person payment options.

Almost never have we run into a bug, and more often than not, a message from is straight forward, with solid support, and works without any intervention after setup.

Pros

directly integrates with all of our fundraising systems, making it easy to accept credit cards for donations, merch, or any other revenue stream. The space is very competitive with few players, but Stripe has been the most seamless of the players out there.

Cons

Sometimes the system cannot integrate with a partner software, though this happens extremely rarely. The reporting also can be clunky at time and the fees can be a bit high, but not much different that other providers.

Overall has been my go to API for handling payments for all my custom web development projects. I've been using them for 10 years now.

Pros

What I really like most about is the 100% free to setup and use API, the quality customer support, the ability to process basically any payment type, and their fees are fixed at about $0.30 + 2.9% overall for most payments scenarios. I am a developer, so after I started using the API I got a lot of custom value out of the flexibility. I haven't had any bugs or issues often, and when I did I could contact support and they were able to help me out. Very easy to use overall to handle credit card payments across the board. I am a fan.#

Cons

I don't like some of the fees being higher for handling multiple managed accounts (for example when running a marketplace platform)

I like it but I worry as we expand that newer staff members may struggle and this can be costly if you mess a payment up or lose trust in a customer if you make mistakes.

Pros

I like that it is a trusted platform and has a lot of payment options. The ease of creating a quick payment link for a customer is appreciated.

Cons

I think compared to some newer options the fees seem very high. It can also be confusing to locate how to do simple tasks such as updating subscriptions, I feel there are some unnecessary steps and the same subscription is in 5 different categories which can make it a little confusing for new users.

caused me to create over 250 checkout pages on my website and didn’t tell me that I had to click a setting on their website so that I would receive notifications that a sale was made. There is no such setting on PayPal. Any idiot would know that that setting should be a given. How on earth did they expect me to know first of all that I made a sale and second, where to send my painting after someone bought it? I worked with them for hours to set up a test transaction on one of the checkout pages that I set up before I clicked the setting to receive notifications. But if I had made a sale and didn’t receive a notification I would have had one very angry customer AND THAT CUSTOMER WOULD HAVE BLAME ME FOR NEGLECTING THEM AND I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN A HORRIBLE REVIEW FOR BEING NEGLECTFUL AND SEVERELY UNPROFESSIONAL.. Now here I am hours later and they still haven’t set it up for me to make a test transaction. But here is the straw that broke the camels back!!! I mistakenly made a dispute on my credit card because I didn’t recognize the transaction, but I was on the phone with my credit card company and I finally did recognized the transaction as a test I made using the Stripe checkout so I asked the rep. I was on the phone with to cancel the dispute but it went through to Stripe in spite of this. After all of this frustration during this back and forth with Stripe I looked at my online bank accounts and noticed that the account that I use solely for inflow of money was -$5157 in arears. What happened was Stripe charged me – $14.66 for a dispute fee and my bank charged me – $38.00 overdraft fee. That is the first time that happened in years. Anyway I am Royally PO’d. Needless to say, I have decided to flush Stripe down the toilet and resume using PayPal to set up my checkout pages. Now I have more than 250 checkout pages to redo and I am one unhappy camper. I gave them an average review and they were on the phone with me in no time but after all of this, I am giving them the worst review possible and I RECOMMEND TO ANY AND EVERYONE WHO READS THIS TO STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM STRIPE AS YOU CAN GET !!!!!!!

I needed something fast and reliable with different payment methods so that I could offer more payment possibilities to my students and has just done that. The fact that it is such a famous and reliable online payment platform is definitely a plus as it meant I could connect my booking system to it quickly and securely. The less tools, accounts, and plugins I have to use for my business, the better.

Pros

It's working! No issues so far. It's doing what it is supposed to be doing. On top of that the fees for EU are descent enough (especially when customers are using Revolut Pay). I have very much liked using the Test mode at first (especially before receiving your first payment) to make sure everything was working as it should (peace of mind). Even though I am not an expert, creating products and payment links was pretty straight forward and easy. PLUS, I now have a system that sends receipts automatically for me... saving me so much time that I can now put into creating content, marketing, etc.

Cons

I wish there was a way to create folders for products and link payments instead of having a long list to scroll through. It would be more pleasing to the eyes and definitely a nicer way to keep everything organised. I wish there was a way to bulk edit some of the features of payments links. For instance, I have created several payment link for different products but I want my After Payment custom message to be the same, so I have to go in each one of them to customise the message one after the other. It did take a while to get my first payments to land in my account... but to be honest, it's not a huge drawback (must be needed I guess to help against fraudsters).

Since I make money with sales at United Empire Miniatures, having smooth transaction services is a must here. I would say ticks all these boxes easily enough as the process is quite straightforward, credit cards work well here and the price matches perfectly the services.

Pros

The interface is sleek and I am sure about where my money goes each time. When paying using a credit card via , the whole experience seems seamless as compared to other services.

Cons

Their customer service is not helpful in case anything happens. Once, I faced an issue with card payment and it took forever to hear back from anyone regarding any help on this.
