### "Focused Lessons Providing Immediate Student Data"

April 26, 2022

5.0

As a teacher, I loved using Nearpod for engaging student learning experiences. My students enjoyed the variety of activities we could complete together as a class, and no one fell behind during the lesson. As an administrator, I also use Nearpod to keep staff on the same page as I introduce professional development materials.

Pros

I most enjoy Nearpod's customizable lesson platform. A teacher can include assessments, polls, virtual field trips, and even links to outside sources throughout their lesson. Nearpod's ability to keep every student on the same slide at the same time is also powerful for classroom management.

Cons

The only negative aspect of Nearpod is that not all of the features are free. I wish I was able to utilize all the site's function's without having to pay, but I do feel that Nearpod is worth paying for.

Nearpod's ability to seamlessly include assessment within teacher presentations makes it a preferred tool to regularly used Google Slides. Also, with a Google Slide, students can skip ahead or fall behind when following along on individual devices.

### "Excellent Teacher Student Engagement Platform"

November 11, 2025

5.0

Pros

Nearpod is excellent for classroom engagement and management. It allows teachers to monitor students as they present information and teach new content. Nearpod's slideshow presentations can be customized and easily shared on platforms such as Google Classroom.

Cons

Nearpod does not allow an option for teachers to block out other websites while the students are online. It would be great if this were an option, so that teachers know their students can only access the website they choose.

### "Not a bad system for younger kids."

March 31, 2025

3.0

My biggest issue with Nearpod is that students feel that the options are a bit... babyish. They don't engage well with it because they don't enjoy using it. There's nothing to draw them into using one.

Pros

The interactivity is great for getting student responses with a really good DOK.

Cons

My middle school students absolutely hate it. It's like pulling teeth to get them to complete one.

Nearpod is provided to Utah schools free of charge. It's expected that you will use it in your classroom. It's one of several options I use.

### "I Used to Love Nearpod but Now I'm Through With Them"

April 15, 2024

5.0

I used to love them but now I see they don't value their loyal customers, they only value money.

Pros

Everything was good until they stole my content.

Cons

Their user policy.I am very upset about the Nearpod policies, and I am going to complain on every venue that I can. I have been a paying gold membership on Nearpod for 5 years. My account has always been paid automatic, so I did not have to concern myself. When my card got stolen and I had to replace it, of course the number had to change. I did realize that my membership had expired. When I went to do my lessons all of one class lessons that I had accumulated over the 5 years was gone. When I contacted Nearpod they told me they would return them when I renew my gold membership. I asked them how they could take the lessons that I created on a paid subscription. If anything, they can prevent me from making new one but the ones that are created, I have already paid for, they are mine. They said because it is on their platform. This is utterly ridiculous and a misuse of the monopoly. In 5 years of using Nearpod, I know I have brought them thousands of customers from my university and other educational institutions that I work with. I loved them and could not get enough of them. NOW I AM THROUGH WITH THEM. I CAN’T BELIEVE THEY ARE TAKING BACK SOMETHING THAT I PAID FOR 5 YEARS!!! I WILL LET EVERYONE KNOW.

I thought Nearpod had more options and was more user-friendly. However, I see now that they have improved their platform and I like their policy for members.

### "Nearpod"

March 22, 2022

5.0

I can execute better my lesson plans and reach the learning goals that I set at the beggining of the term

Pros

In these times when students have too many distractors and consume too many information, I found that Nearpod allows me to center the students attention and participation in an easy and fun way. It also allows me to execute my lesson plan more accurately in terms of the learning process goals and objectives. The platform is easy to use for both, teachers and students.

Cons

I don´t find any cons at this moment. I rather say that it is in constantly development

### "Nearpod for Education"

February 12, 2021

4.0

I love the "time to climb" aspect when I am teaching a live lesson. Students visually can see their progress and this motivates them to continue.

Pros

I like the funcionality of nearpod in allowing the creation an sharing of a lesson in a fun format. With Nearpod, I can import a lesson that I have already created in Google slides, power point or I can create them through nearpod. I can embed a virtual field trip, musical links and audio files throughout my created lesson. As I am giving a live lesson, each student sees my annotations and discovers for themselves the lesson, as it allows themm to individually work through an assignment.

Cons

Nearpod does not make it easy for me to see what my students are doing all at the same time. It does not let me see the notes that they took.

Switched from

[Pear Deck](https://www.capterra.com/p/209857/Pear-Deck/)

Nearpod allowed me to annotate and show steps in my lesson while my students had access to it. They were seeing me in real time go through each step. As I wrote on my board, it appeared on theirs. They could interact in a collaborative board. Student responses are recorded.

### "Used to love it, not anymore :("

August 6, 2025

1.0

Pros

I like the activities that can be used on Nearpod. They can be very engaging for students. They have made many changes, though and I do not find it as user-friendly any longer.

Cons

The customer service leaves a lot to be desired. They are unhelpful and there are many bugs. It is overpriced for individuals.

### "Nearpod is Awesome but beware if you're in Higher Ed"

April 2, 2025

4.0

Fun engaging content for learners who don't require accommodations. Can be used in online classrooms and in-person activities. Our ed studies department was all in on the pilot we had, but we couldn't sustain the institutional cost and use beyond the department due to accessibility concerns. Elementary ed instructors can use it because it is assumtion that student ents under the age of 18 are not subject to Section 508.

Pros

Classroom engagement tool for higher education classrooms

Cons

Accessibility concerns for higher education. Content must be able to be navigated and interpreted with screen readers.

### "Great Tool for Teachers!"

March 26, 2025

3.0

My overall experience with Nearpod has been decent. Nearpod is not my favorite tool as a teacher, but it's still nice to be able to create interactive lessons for my students. I use Nearpod often when I am going to be out of the classroom and have a substitute teacher.

Pros

I have been using Nearpod in my classroom for the past few months. I like that the software is very easy to use and allows teachers to customize lessons and adapt pre-made content to fit their needs. When I first started out teaching, I created every single thing I used in the classroom. Once I learned there are programs for teachers, my life became so much easier. Nearpod is one of those programs that are great to have. Being able to integrate Nearpod with Microsoft Teams was very helpful. I am only using the free version at the moment but plan to buy a subscription.

Cons

The biggest con of Nearpod is the price of a subscription. The free version lacks many of the important features. Another complaint is a few times a week, students have trouble getting the app to connect. Once students refresh, it usually fixes the issue. But having 30 students having trouble is never good.

### "Effective Classroom Management Platform "

November 12, 2025

5.0

Pros

Nearpod is a great platform for student engagement and management. It has an attractive user interface and integrates easily with programs like Google Classroom.

Cons

While allowing teachers to monitor student performance, Nearpod falls short of eliminating distractions for students. If it could block access to outside websites, it would be a game changer for classroom management.

### "Engaging and Interactive"

April 7, 2025

4.0

Overall I love that I can have student interact and assess if they are grasping the material by adding questions throughout or other interactive activities. Also, by having the ability to have video without leaving the nearpod presentation, then I don't have students venturing to other sites as we are going over the material.

Pros

I love the ability to interact with various types of questions and formats. I can add video or websites without my students leaving the lesson. It really cuts down on distractions when using technology. Students are really into gaming, so I have the option to "gamify" a lesson with gaming activities. The pre-made lessons are really great and engaging.

Cons

I don't like that the free subscription doesn't allow to use Google slides. I already have numerous presentations that I would love to use but can't with the free version. If you teach core classes there are a ton of ready made lessons to choose from, but I teach an elective so it is more limited.

### "Great tool for the right teacher with the right budget"

October 7, 2024

4.0

It was a good experience, but I just didn't use it regularly enough to justify the cost once the free trial had run its course.

Pros

I like the ideas behind it and the variety of tools it offers.

Cons

I think, in the end, it's software that just relies too heavily on devices in front of students and may detract from a personal connection with students. Some of its tools are redundant with other software and may be slightly unnecessary. I can see, however, how some teachers may really use it well and benefit from it.

### "The perfect tool for asynchronous work and differentiation"

September 22, 2020

5.0

Nearpod has been an incredible addition to my self-contained English as a Second Language classroom. My new to country students are emergent in their language and literacy skills, but are able to navigate Nearpod easily after only a few tutorial sessions. It has made a huge difference in what work I can provide for them to do during independent work time while I meet with small groups. Seriously, this is an instructional game changer. I was lucky enough to have a small class size that allowed us to be 1:1 for devices, but this would have worked by staggering online and offline activities as well.

Pros

Nearpod is an incredibly easy to navigate platform. The interface with Google Slides is seamless and allows for greater creativity in building slide decks for instruction. It has a variety of student response types (matching, drawing, multiple choice, short answer, etc.) and they are adding features on a regular basis. This program is especially helpful for providing the same instruction at asynchronous times (student-paced option) or for guiding synchronous lessons across devices (live lesson option). Reports let you know who logged in to the lesson as well as what their responses were to various prompts. There are a wealth of lessons in the lesson library that you can launch as is or modify to fit your instructional needs. Because students are able to work through it independently, you can use Nearpod as an independent work station and have students logged into remediation, practice, or enrichment lessons simultaneously. Because you can record audio over slides as well as within question prompts, this is an excellent tool to differentiate for students who need accommodations and who are emergent in their literacy skills. Nearpod also works as an excellent tool for delivering professional development as you can record audio over slides, embed videos, and link to outside sources.

Cons

Audio recording is only available through lessons created within Nearpod (cannot be imported through Google Slides extension), but I'm sure this is something that will be modified in future updates.

### "Nearpod equals Student Engagement "

July 28, 2021

5.0

It has been a very rewarding software for my classroom. I am able to start off with Do Nows, Check for Understanding, Closing activities and Quizzes all in one place.

Pros

I love the ability to add slides, activities and collaborative tools to improve student engagement and student learning retention. I love how easy it is to share my lessons with my students and colleagues.

Cons

I wish there was a bigger database of lessons I could use for my classes. I end up making most of my lessons from scratch.

### "Nearpod: A much needed asset"

August 16, 2022

4.0

I have a great overall experience with Nearpod. The lessons incorporate our subject matter and have the various activities the students complete on their own which can make the lessons an in-class lesson or a virtual learning activity.

Pros

I like the already. y set up lessons that Nearpod has created in so many subject areas. I can use Nearpod in a broad overview and also has a specific lesson on a specific skill

Cons

I had a bit of difficulty at first with creating my lessons and dropping graphics. It had a bit of a learning curve.

### "A must have for the classroom "

April 23, 2021

5.0

As described above, I use this every day. It is something the kids love using and gives you immediate results. I use it mostly as a teacher led tool, but use the student led, which is at their own pace occasionally. You can create your own lessons or search the very extensive lessons in the Nearpod library. You can also save searched lessons and modify them to meet the needs of your class.!

Pros

I love almost everything about this. I started using this three years ago and it became a go-to. Since covid, it has been my most used tool. The best thing is the kids LOVE it, especially the "Time to Climb". You can create interactive lessons, as well as quizzes and so much more.

Cons

NOTHING. This program has so many useful things for teaching and learning. I guess the one downfall is in order to save over a certain amount of lessons, you have to have the upgraded membership, which in my opinion, is worth every cent.

### "Another Tool in the Teacher Toolbox"

February 22, 2020

4.0

Nearpod is a great way to run interactive whole group or independent lessons with students, but it doesn't fully implement itself with other classroom tools such as Google Classroom. Because of this, it can be frustrating to go from one tool to another to create a lesson and then formative assessment for students. This has been great for me for interspersed uses, but until it implements a little better, it can be tough to use daily.

Pros

Nearpod helps teachers (and others) create powerpoint-like lessons for students to go through either in whole group settings or student-paced. The slides can range from interactive ones like student drawing or typing responses or can be static slides, linking students to other resources. Students can join on a variety of device types with a lesson code, or by linking the lesson directly to your Google Classroom.

Cons

While the tool can help students go through a lesson, I wish it implemented itself with other tools a little better. The fact that I can link this straight to my Google Classroom is great, but it won't allow me to keep or save any individual grades from the Nearpod easily. This means if I want this to be an independent lesson for students with a formative assessment at the end, I have to make the Nearpod, and then create a graded opportunity separately. I've been told this update will come to the program, but until then, that can be frustrating.

January 20, 2022

5.0

Overall it is a great product. There are so many features and ways to present material. There is also a large bank of things to draw from when developing slides.

Pros

This is a great interactive tool for teaching student's when they are remote. I liked that I could insert my own google slides and add quick formative assessments to the presentation.

Cons

I do not like how these presentations time out and have to be reopened after a while.

### "Excellent Teaching Tool"

April 23, 2021

4.0

Nearpod has been such a terrific addition to remote learning. I do believe that when we are all back face-to-face that I will continue to use it. It's also very handy when you just need something to fill that little bit of extra time during lessons.

Pros

I love that the system has pre-populated lessons, lessons that other users have submitted, and allows the user to create/tailor lessons to fit their need. Most of the lessons that I have found have been extremely easy to follow and engaging for students.

Cons

The search can sometimes take a little longer than I'd like, particularly when I know what I want, but can't seem to find an exact match right off the bat.

### "Nearpod's games make studying fun for students"

November 20, 2018

4.0

Nearpod is very good for introducing and presenting material to a group of people.

Pros

Nearpod has a fun drawing feature that allows students to be creative while answering questions. Nearpod is an interactive studying experience that allows teachers to view the knowledge of the students while allowing fun studying games. Some features are similar to Quizlet such as matching and the quiz feature. It is used in my child's Spanish class to help the students comprehend new vocabulary words.

Cons

I overall like this software, but sometimes it lags a little when people are submitting assignments. I wish there was a fullscreen feature on computers so that people are able to see it better. I feel like Quizlet is more helpful for studying, but Nearpod is very efficient on introducing new material.

### "The #1 Student Engagement Tool"

February 16, 2021

5.0

I love how there is a product that can bring student learning to life in an easy to facilitate way.

Pros

I love how Nearpod allows you to use Google Slides to upload pre-made lessons into engaging virtual lessons to involve students and check understanding in the virtual world.

Cons

This does not happen often, but sometimes the slides will not save and you literally cannot teach. If the Nearpod is created fully in Nearpod, you do not have slides to fall back on for teaching or providing professional development.

### "Improve Participation with one click"

July 23, 2021

4.0

My personal experience with the software trumps the minor issue of being unable to recycle materials as it indeed have the student doting their i’s and crossing their t’s. Their engagement, particularly and behaviour during class has improved greatly while using this software.

Pros

The software has a feature in which you can add questions to videos, this is very effective in keeping the students focused on what they are required to learn. Addition to this, it increases the students attention span.

Cons

Though this software is great, like many other it has small challenges as to what it can achieve. What I did not enjoy while using this software was that after a month the materials that you created will automatically delete itself, so you cannot recycle the same material two months later for revision with the students.

### "Nearpod - The interactivity"

November 20, 2022

5.0

It is very good tool for interactive learning.

Pros

It is very simple tool for students interactive presentations contained quizzes, polls and videos. Very useful to make your module more interactive and interesting. Good point about it, while making the quiz and by mistake closed, once you re-logging in you are still there.

Cons

Some competitors have more functions than it. But considering the simplicity, it is the best.
