### "An excellent product that has it all; well, almost everything"

May 9, 2022

5.0

I would summarize it as: Excellent provider, excellent service, excellent cost-benefit ratio. Excellent business partner

Pros

Very easy to use interface. Excellent seaworthiness. Excellent results and performance. Optimization of resources and transparency of information resources.

Cons

This is the only area of opportunity that we find in the service. There are currently many plugins and add-ons that other providers can be added almost immediately. We are sure that the Dacast team will be able to work on these integrations soon. A specific example was the real-time CHAT service that should be optimized as soon as possible

This product is really good but the cost-benefit ratio is very high. Additionally, they are very inflexible in many administrative aspects and we do not feel real support.

### "A Little Rough Around the Edges, but Fantastic Value for Money"

July 19, 2022

4.0

Dacast helps our team keep focus and lets us fully control our content, while keeping videos private and only accessible to our team. I've been quiet pleased with how seamlessly we were able to integrate it into our training materials in the place of YouTube.

Pros

Dacast is a great platform for hosting and live streaming videos. You can control the style of the video player without any third party branding or recommended videos like YouTube has. It creates a lot more streamlined and focused viewing experience for employee training videos.

Cons

The overall polish of Dacast could be improved. Changes to video info isn't always saved the first time. Uploads don't always finish uploading the first time. Processing to full HD quality can take a while too. The product works well overall, but it could use that extra bit of fine tuning.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Dacast

Brightcove had some better and easier to use features, but the price tag was outrageous, at least for a company of our size.

Purely as a video streaming platform, YouTube is great. But there are so many extra bells and whistles (ads, recommended videos, auto-playing videos, YouTube branding) that distract and, on occasion, offend our employees. Some recommended videos on the side can be pretty messed up. None of that is an issue with Dacast.

### "Very Poor Experience – High Latency, Bad Encoding, and Surprise Billing"

July 23, 2025

1.0

We tried using DaCast for about a year in Paraguay, but the latency was consistently very high, and the encoding performance was unreliable. Despite several attempts to make it work, the quality just wasn’t up to standard. Eventually, we had to set up our own servers for stream encoding and switched to another provider for passthrough. Shortly after switching, we were unexpectedly charged for another full year. I contacted support immediately, arguing that we were not made aware of any automatic renewal for an annual subscription — especially since we were not actively using the service. However, DaCast refused to refund the charge, stating that all their subscriptions are auto-renewed by default. Overall, it has been a very disappointing experience both technically and in terms of customer service. I would strongly caution others to be careful with their subscription terms and monitor billing closely. We won’t be using DaCast again.

Pros

Easy to use with good overall ideas. If the encoders worked properly and they had more CDNs—especially for better distribution in South America—it could grow into a great service.

Cons

latency was consistently very high, encoding performance was unreliable Disappointing customer service

Alternatives considered

I thought we wouldn't keep up with demand. But finally it shows that we could combining it wit a p2p player we hat no problems.

### "Dacast meets our small business needs"

July 18, 2022

4.0

Our clients aren't made of money, so we needed a streaming platform that would allow us to stream community/local events and not lose money on the deal. Customer service is good. The platform is not super polished compared to some competitors, but we've seen many improvements over the last 2 years.

Pros

We needed a simple and affordable platform for live streaming events. While Dacast isn't perfect, the streams are reliable and that is very important to us. There is not much else to say, it meets our needs!

Cons

Connection times to viewers to the streams have been long (30 seconds to minutes to connect) even with the most recent update to their platform. Reviewing data for how many viewers watched each event is clumsy, especially when we have back-to-back events on the same channel, but still want to see the data separated. Splash screens take a long time to load on the streaming pages. Backoffice tasks can be accidently missed because each section of settings requires you to press a save button at the bottom of the page. Subscription details aren't explain very well, for example if you purchase a certain package you get data but it's parcelled out over the year, not given to you all at once to use. This results in overage charges but fortunately you can enable protection to add data automatically when you run out so your streams never go down.

Reason for choosing Dacast

Mainly price, as well as lack of certain features that could negatively impact our stream. For example, if copyrighted music plays (accidentally, or even in the case your client has purchased the rights to use the music) in the background of some platforms they will shut your stream down leaving you and your clients in a difficult position.

### "A decent live streaming and video hosting company for professional use. "

April 18, 2022

5.0

Overall the service has been reliable but lacks some features and convenience that I expected at this price point. I am currently looking for another cheaper provider for my live streams.

Pros

What brought me to this software was the integration with InPlayer, which allows monetization of live streams and videos. We were looking to quickly deploy a Dacast workflow for a football team that wanted to charge online viewers and Dacast worked well in that application, both reliability and monetization features. The cost and reporting of bandwidth is transparent.

Cons

The control panel seems a little buggy with some changes requiring to confirm with a button at the bottom, others do not. Changes take a few seconds to take in order to do anything else with the page. In general, the control panel could use some work. I would like to see the ability to email the stream encoder settings to yourself or an app that allows you to see the settings. The recording feature has been unreliable with some missed portions and multiple recordings for the same stream. YouTube was able to record the stream reliably.

### "Not very professional: Auto charged with no consent and hard no for refund"

March 6, 2025

3.0

They are not the same service i experience in the past. It doesn't feel like a professional service.

Pros

They provide a affordable service. It was good when i worked.

Cons

They have a auto renew membership with no consent policy before they charge. And there is no way for a customer to cancel it even on the same day you get charged. (They keep saying no due to their new policies.) I think they at least give you a reminder as a consent before they automatically charge or let customer cancel it. It almost feel a scammer practice.

### "Streaming without copyright hassle "

July 18, 2022

5.0

Dacast did work for our events and the support team took one's best to care about us buying the right plan. Yet we try to move our viewers to move to a traditional platform and deal with copyright infringement beforehand. With 15k viewers bandwidth goes like nothing.

Pros

Dacast is easy to use and does work for any stream that has to deal with copyright infringement and similar issues on traditional streaming platforms. The mix of advance-payment and subscription is ideal for repeated streaming with small audience.

Cons

Bandwidth gets very expensive very fast especially when streaming for a great audience. Mind your projects beforehand and do the math with included stream calculator. Also there is no way to verify the spent bandwidth since you will not receive any logs.

### "Expensive and outdated technology"

December 29, 2023

2.0

We finally gave up using them in 2023, after nine years with the company.

Pros

We began using Dacast in 2014 when live streaming was something really unique.

Cons

Dacast has raised their prices, lowered their level of service and failed to keep up with latest technologies. The product seems to be a cash cow they are milking.

Dacast was a leading technology in 2014. What they offer today is not much different than was was offered then. The technology is not worth the price, neither is their service level. It's a dying business.

### "Good Value Streaming Platform"

April 11, 2023

4.0

Using it as a "set it and forget it" platform for live streaming our church services has provided a cost effective solution that helped us navigate the COVID days, and continues to provide a convienence to our church members.

Pros

Dacast provides the fundamental features needed to live stream events at a price that is reasonable.

Cons

The bandwidth and storage entitlements (and cost associated with overages/extras) required us to limit our use of the platform to live steaming. We would have liked to use the session recording and video on demand.

### "Overall, a Very Good Organization with Excellent Customer Service"

November 20, 2018

4.0

I am very happy with the streaming quality and the reliability now that they have most of the issues worked out. It is the best value for the money spent and I expect to remain with DaCast as long as my programming continues to stream on the Internet.

Pros

The pricing structure is probably the best thing about DaCast. It's affordable (unlike many of their competitors), and their customer service is top notch. My rep usually gets back to me within an hour after I e-mail him, and their tech support people are always available to chat regardless of the time...and they are very helpful. If they can't resolve a problem, they send it to their higher-ups and it gets taken care of pretty quickly.

Cons

Some of the CDNs have buffering issues depending on where they are, but they seem to have repaired these over the past few months. The analytics reports have also been a problem in the past, but they too seem to have been remedied of late. The PPV on demand interface is a bit cumbersome and difficult for some non-tech-savvy customers of mine to navigate. That would be the only issue I wish DaCast could simplify...it's a really big deal to log in once an account has been created and they don't allow for users to change their passwords - if forgotten, DaCast issues them a randomly-generated new one and they are difficult to remember. I also don't like the fact that clients must wait until an accumulation of $100 or more via PPV sales is reached before they can transfer funds from DaCast...and the first transaction takes 35 days. That is ridiculous.

### "There Are Better Simpler Products Out There"

February 5, 2019

2.0

Too much time/resources spent for the value. Would not recommend.

Pros

I liked the fact that DaCast allows streamers to add a Paywall option.

Cons

The software is advanced and requires additional downloads. Not very user friendly. If you're testing the free trial, don't even try to add a PayWall option. There is no payout option. Payouts are only provided for subscription customers. Was too complicated for our teams budget. We would get the same desired effect using more Audience-Friendly platforms (Facebook Live, Livestream). Have tested other options, and this was by far the most complex with the least benefit.

Review Source

Response from DaCast

February 15, 2019

Hello anonymous reviewer! I am very concerned about your review, as I do not believe you have spent enough time on our platform (our free trial being only 30 days) to get a hold on it. For your information: unfortunately we do not have a payout option for our free trials, that is mainly to prevent frauds. As a free trial is by its essence, free, we cannot take the risk of people streaming and making pay for a fraudulent content without our approval! Hope you understand :) Also, not true, DaCast is a 100% SAAS software and you do not require any additional download. I would really enjoy understanding what you need the streaming for. As Facebook Live does not have a paywall feature, as Livestream is pricing more than we do (their paywall is costly and is an additional download), and as you look to have a tight budget, do not hesitate to give us your exact needs, so we can discuss it and see how we can help. Best streaming!

### "Empty promises with quick support"

April 25, 2020

2.0

Overall, I wish I'd selected another platform Honestly, the amount of time and effort spent in figuring out the bugs I described above was not worth it. I have about 2000 people that are actively using the platform I build and they trust me to give them a reliable way to stream live classes (dance classes) and record them for later viewing, and I feel I've let them down choosing DaCast I do not recommend DaCast to anyone

Pros

They don't make you pay for a full year and the price is a bit lower compared with vimeo and some other platforms i checked. Fast response support (not good, but fast)

Cons

Features don't work!! 1. Analytics - does not work at all (support: "as soon as it works we will notify you") 2. VOD - recorded live streams have multiple 'holes' in them, most recordings have 10-20 minute holes missing in the recording!! Also, one of the recordings was corrupted after about 5 minutes in the stream, so 1.2 hour video = trashed. 3. LiveStreams - a huge bug in the token refreshing within the player, making anyone who views the stream refresh the browser every 6 minutes (as it stops the stream) 4. Support - the support is a fast-response-low-on-knowledge kind of support. The more knowing people are not responding at all (been 3 weeks with no response) 5. They have lots of articles that seem like someone who knows a thing or two about streaming wrote, that was mostly the reason I decided to invest my time in DaCast, it seemed promising (but only promising, no results)

### "Live Streaming of Construction Site"

April 18, 2022

5.0

Similar story as the pros listed above. We plan on using this at jobsites in the future as well.

Pros

We were tasked with finding a way to provide residents of a retirement community the ability to live-stream progress of their new construction site. I came across Dacast and was very impressed in all aspects. Support was quick to resolve any issues and questions. The residents have provided raving feedback and it has truly been a bright spot in their lives. These are residents that may often struggle to keep themselves entertained and occupied, especially during our brutal winter months, so this has truly enhanced the lives our client.

Cons

The understanding of data consumed can be difficult even w calculators. Unless you're familiar with bitrates, viewer counts, etc.

### "A Great Streaming Solution"

May 1, 2019

5.0

We have had a great experience with DaCast streaming as a service. From our 24/7 streaming to our occasional LIVE event broadcasts, we find that DaCast helps to supply our needs for streaming to our audience. The customer support with DaCast has been excellent, with quick responses and very knowledgeable to help us troubleshoot and get things set up when we started the service. Overall, we are thankful and grateful for this service and support team.

Pros

We provide 24/7 streaming to a wide audience internationally as well as in the USA. We had a streaming provider that began to be too costly for what we did as a non-profit organization. So in our search for a better provider, we found DaCast to be the best solution for our needs at a great rate. With flexible plans based on bandwidth, and the ability to make unlimited events, for us, this works great! Now we can continue to make our 24/7 streaming available to our audience thanks to DaCast.

Cons

The only thing we did not like was that DaCast did not have their own broadcaster box to connect to our Sony Camera to stream directly from our camera to the live event. We had to use our computer to stream and eventually found a third party broadcasting box solution that integrates with DaCast streaming service.

### "Best deal I’ve found"

May 2, 2022

Love it. Easy to use system even for beginners. COVID forced us into a crash course in live streaming our weekly services and Dacast was easy to setup and bring online. Dacast is very reasonably priced since we just needed a single site stream feed for a small number of viewers. We don’t use the recording option. Pairs well with OBS and OBS lists Dacast now in their stream provider options list. Flawless performance for a year now.

Pros

I had never heard of Dacast before and decided to take a chance on it. I was amazed at the quality and wondered why my previous experience with other platforms was not as good. I donate a lot of streaming time to non-profit organizations and I have to pay out of my pocket for them. I use Dacast for the most important ones.

Pros

The interface is so easy to use and gives all the important information and control functions at my fingertips. The quality is amazing. I hear more accolades from the viewers than with any other platform.

Cons

I wish it was less expensive. I use it for all my high end broadcast. I would use it for everything if I could justify the costs.
