I just started my business a year ago at that time I was looking for the best TMS for a small start up company that would fit my needs and I have found Ascend TMS to fit my needs. Customer servie rep was very helpful assisting me with setting up branches.

Pros

Ascend is very user friendly and cost effective

Cons

The shipper directory could use an update

This team & product is great. As I mentioned, I shopped for several weeks before deciding on Ascend, and I have zero regrets.

Pros

The software is a breeze to use! I shopped several TMS systems for my company & AscendTMS stood out for several reasons. It’s fairly priced, great value, easy integrations, etc. The list goes on & on. Their customer service team is phenomenal as well.

Cons

I have no issues with Ascend. If you’re a new broker or dispatcher, this is an excellent choice for your TMS.

Overall the TMS allowed me to get up and running, but as we continue to grow, we've reached the point of needing to find a TMS that fits our needs. This is a great startup TMS, but realistically anyone who does over $1 - $2 mil in rev will outgrow the TMS fast.

Pros

This software allows you to get up and running fairly quickly, customer service is good when they are open and you can reach someone to talk with. They always seem to be doing updates which is a good thing I suppose.

Cons

Your always told their doing updates which is a good thing, there is never any type of notice when changes are made, what the changes are that are being made, and if you work on the weekend you can't reach anyone. Today particularly systems are down, been down for over an hour, can't reach a single person for support, help, and prevents you from doing your very basic freight functions. As a business owner, paying hourly employees, independent brokers can't help their clients and customers, this snowballed very quickly and go out of control. Would be nice if we knew what changes were done, when support tells you they will submit a change and get back to you when the change will be done that there was follow through, that you could get support when needed, and have help as the system can be clunky and super temperamental at first. Especially with being a premium user.

So, I don't think it was AscendTMS that was down, it was likely your Internet connection. Regarding size of our customers, our largest customer is a $9 billion distributor with 360 DC's and 3 separate logistics offices in North America. So, we can definitely support both the biggest logistics operations as well as the smallest operations like yours (hopefully you'll make it to $9 billion one day, too . We are glad you're using AscendTMS, Shawn. We'll keep adding more and more features - AND WE'LL CONTINUE TO BE THE HIGHEST RATED TMS SOFTWARE ON THE PLANET!!

The layout and format is a little clunky but after some use it gets better no real issue just could be less steps for each operation?

My experience has been great. User friendly, robust, but not over done. Great Service!

Pros

Service! It's become rare to find responsive service these days. Everything is chat, AI, call center, yuck. Not Ascend, real people like \[sensitive content hidden\] are paying attention and ready to help.

Cons

I wish there was a way to email carriers based on filters. Conestogas who have moved loads from MN to the southeast for example. We figure it out, but that sort o functionality would be ideal.

I appreciate every feature of the software. In my dispatching business, I have explored several alternatives that lack the capabilities included in the Ascend PRO Version.

Pros

I like the LTL feature the most because it lets me view my daily load information in one place. This feature makes it easy for me to stay on top of my daily tasks.

Cons

I love everything about AscendTMS Logistics Software! This system literally has everything that I needed for my freight dispatching business. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a TMS for a freight dispatching business.

Easy to use and understand. Lots of options for customer, carrier and location specific information. Searchability is amazing.

Pros

Intuitive and easy to use. Fast and responsive. I did demos of a lot of different software and this one checked all the boxes. Support is very quick to reply and they are very open to changes or feature ideas.

Cons

Because the software has to cater to a large range and size of trucklines and brokers, sometimes that creates extra steps. Two examples, when uploaded a BOL within a load, you have to select the customer or it won't send with the Invoice. Other would be the customer email addresses show up when sending a carrier confirmation. They are unchecked and marked with a RED ! to say don't click this. But I would prefer they weren't there at all.

Is really easy to to figure things out in your own if you dedicate a a full day to get to know the system. Also the learning center are really helpful to find more instructions step by step with videos and simple guidance.

Cons

Some times the system log out a little bit fast if the computer are not in used and need to refresh the page to see some update what you have done, But not a big deal.

What stood out to me the most with this software was my interactions with Elwood Black. He provided me with the live links to all trainings offered, he ensured I knew how to access all the walkthrough videos, and checked in on us throughout our entire trial process to ensure no additional assistance was needed. This has been by far my best customer service interaction since we have opened our business. We truly appreciate not only your software and it’s functions but also the amazing representative assigned to us.

Pros

All the features are absolutely incredible. They have made it impossible for you to need additional software outside of your typical load board subscriptions. The walk through videos provided are beyond informative they make it impossible to struggle utilizing and navigating the software.

Cons

I wish there was an option for a monthly subscription with at least up to 3 users at a cheaper rate.

Pros

Ascend TMS keeps growing with me as my company grows. They have partnered with some great companies to add even more features that make my company able to post loads to more load boards and process loads more quickly, and . We are able to work more efficiently and cost-effectively.

Cons

While it is easy to learn, there were parts of the software that I did not know much about - mainly the accounting. I learned how to do much of it on the fly. Watching the videos helped and the support from Ascend TMS has been great. I would like to see a "user's group" set up so people who use the software can share tips, how to's, etc.

Tailwind was too difficult to start out with. I did not have much knowledge about using any TMS when I started out but Tailwind was just too confusing. Ascend was much easier to use as a beginner, and the support system they provide - videos, webinars, personal "coaches" were all very helpful.

Extremely powerful and expansive software has the most user friendly interface.

I have to say that I am obsessed with AscendTMS. One-on-one training with Jayme was great, she went above and beyond. It is always a pleasure to work with professionals.

Pros

A web-based TMS is a treat to us. Lots of very useful features that make our life easier.

Cons

Integrated tracking could be improved. Not all drivers are willing to open a link on the go. Would be great if it tracked them automatically.

Pros

The software is user friendly. There have only been a couple times that I needed Support assistance since using the Ascend TMS software and tech \[sensitive content hidden\] reached out in a timely matter and helped resolve the issue. It is a comforting feeling knowing the software is dependable and when necessary, Ascend Support has responded within minutes of submitting my request for assistance. Thank you Ascend Support Team for your diligence and knowledge with your product to effectively resolve issues.

Cons

I have not come across anything specific that I dislike. If anything, there are tutorials to reference. I just don't give enough time to take advantage of the tutorial resources.

Overall this has been a phenomenal experience working with Randy & Steve on Ascend questions and EDI integrations. Thoroughly impressed with how quickly we can update the TMS ourselves to fix and optimize workflow issues.

Pros

Customizing the TMS to exactly what we need to run our business effectively. Very fast customer support. Love that it just WORKS and doesn't have a bunch of fancy things that are half-baked and non-functional.

Cons

I wish I could create custom visual dashboards in Ascend as opposed to exporting the data and working within Google Sheets. Currently lacking the ability to push X6 updates via EDI.

free one year trial and the price is fair but i was lied too. I was told that the cost is $80 per month after my free trial .. Ascend should honor the price that they told me it would be but instead the price went up to $99 dollars per month.

Outstanding customer service, great product, great people!

Pros

This software is super easy to use for organizing my customers, carriers, and loads. Ascend is quick for onboarding new carriers; I just input their USDOT/MC# and Ascend autofills the majority of the carriers info. Building loads is also super quick and painless compared to other big name TMS providers.

Cons

I have no current complaints with this software.

Overall, very satisfied with the TMS and will learn as I go with it. I would definetly reccommend this to anyone looking for a TMS for their brokerage.

Pros

Easy to use. Intergrations are very helpful. It covers every need I have for my business.

Cons

Learning the software can be daunting at first. There is just a lot that it does. But the training options are very helpful. Would like to see more intergration options for tracking and funding. The prerecorded training videos should be made more professionally, in my opinion. You can tell they were made in someone's kitchen or something with dogs barking, kids running around, and other interruptions. Also the way they spoke was either too fast, mumbled, or otherwise difficult to understand. They seemed to gloss over some things that would have been nice to see demonstrated.

This software does EVERYTHING I need it to do to run my company. It will probably do all you need it to do as well.

Pros

This software is crafted by industry professionals who know what you need to succeed as a dispatcher, truck driver, owner operator, fleet owner or as a broker. They continually look for ways to improve the system and they resolve any issues quickly. I have only had to reach out for assistance a few times, but when I do the team at AscendTMS is always quick to respond with helpful info.

Cons

About once every 3 months, the software will go down for about 15 minutes. This is always a very short disconnect and is always back up and running shortly. For the price and the amenities, I barely feel justified in mentioning this little hiccup.
