### Key takeaways

Insights from verified Capterra reviews

Docusign helps small businesses streamline digital agreements, especially in real estate, healthcare, and IT services. Its key benefit is fast, legally binding signatures with guided signing and multi-party workflows. While pricing is lower than average, envelope limits and support issues are common drawbacks. Advanced tools like Maestro and AI-assisted review help automate contracts and ensure legal compliance.

### Our verdict

Docusign is a dependable option for SMBs managing frequent agreements, offering automation and legal safeguards to support business growth. While envelope limits and tracking challenges may require workarounds, its AI-assisted review and workflow tools help offset manual effort and improve consistency.

Overall, I really like using Docusign. We use this multiple times a week to collect signed contracts, as well as information forms that we use for taxes, ACH information, contact info, etc. Our clients like the assurance that this information is secure.

Pros

I like how easy DocuSign is to use, especially when sending out multiple versions of the same contract to multiple people.

Cons

I wish there were an easier way to make sure documents didn't expire before signers are able to view and sign the document. Sometimes the notification that a document is ready to sign will go to spam, or a signer will have trouble pulling the document up, and I have to resend multiple times.

Overall, my experience with DocuSign has been very positive. It has significantly streamlined the process of sending, signing, and managing documents, saving time and reducing the need for physical paperwork. The platform is easy to navigate, even for first-time users, and the ability to sign documents from any device adds a lot of convenience. While there are a few drawbacks—such as pricing and occasional workflow limitations—the benefits generally outweigh the negatives. It’s a reliable and professional solution for handling agreements, especially in fast-paced or remote environments. Overall, DocuSign has made document management more efficient and accessible, and I would consider it a valuable tool for both individuals and businesses.

Pros

DocuSign makes signing and managing documents incredibly fast and convenient. The interface is intuitive, so it’s easy to upload files, add signature fields, and send documents without a steep learning curve. I especially like how it eliminates the need for printing and scanning—everything can be done digitally from almost any device. The real-time tracking and notifications are also a big plus. It’s easy to see when a document has been viewed or signed, which helps keep workflows moving smoothly. Additionally, DocuSign integrates well with other tools like Google Drive and Salesforce, making it a seamless part of existing workflows. Overall, it saves time, reduces paperwork, and makes the entire signing process more efficient and professional.

Cons

One downside is the cost, especially for individuals or small businesses. Some useful features are locked behind higher-tier plans, which can make it feel limiting unless you upgrade. The user interface, while generally easy to use, can occasionally feel cluttered—particularly when managing multiple documents or templates. Certain steps in the workflow (like editing fields after sending) aren’t always as flexible as expected. There can also be minor delays with notifications or document updates, which may slow things down in time-sensitive situations. Lastly, recipients who aren’t familiar with digital signing tools sometimes find the process slightly confusing at first, which can require extra guidance.

DocuSign is an excellent solution to get down to business in an expedited manner. As an ML consultant, as I am, it makes you appear professional to your clients. You need not bother about paper or scanning. Everybody already knows about it, and thus nobody raises inquiries when you send a DocuSign link.

Pros

I find myself making frequent use of DocuSign when beginning a new project with my clients. As a Machine Learning Consultant, I would need to sign numerous NDA papers and contracts until I will be presented with any data. And the best thing is that it is extremely fast. All I do is to upload my contract and check the place where I would like the signature and send it.

Cons

The price is the chief among the things that I do not like. To an individual solo worker or a couple of people who work a small group, it is rather costly each month. A second, occasionally the interface of setting the document is a bit sluggish.

Being a billing professional in a jewelry company, any signed document has a direct financial impact. DocuSign maintains such a process as clean, auditable and quick. The workflow management component has made approval delays less costly to us in real time at the end of the month.

Pros

Signature approvals on billing documents without physically running down to get anyone have really simplified my life with regard to closing financial cycles at Kilarys.

Cons

The navigation process seems complicated in performing simple tasks. Locating certain documents in workflows require more clicks than it should have.

It has effectively turned a multi-day process of printing, scanning, and mailing into a five-minute digital task

Pros

You don't need an account to sign a document, also knowing exactly when a client opened the email versus when they finished signing provides great peace of mind and keeps deals moving.

Cons

The pricing structure does feel a bit steep, especially for small businesses or solo entrepreneurs. Seems easier to use on desktop than mobile

I have used Docusign as both an end user and a program administrator. I was responsible to teach others how to use and coordinate users in the program.

Pros

The simplicity of getting multiple people in multiple places to sign off on and/or comment on a document quickly.

Cons

The only con was convincing my admin to pay for it. Now even they agree: Docusign is worth every dime!

Overall, I will definitely continue to utilize DocuSign for our service contracts and to protect us from any poor consequences of clients, not following their contracts

Pros

I like the simplicity of being able to send it over to clients to have a certified contract that is documented with a timestamp, and location

Cons

I do not like how difficult it can be to open, especially for our elder clients, occasionally have difficulties, and being able to access with the small print

My overall experience with DocuSign has been very positive. It’s a reliable, secure, and user‑friendly platform that significantly simplifies the document signing process. It saves time, reduces administrative back‑and‑forth, and works especially well when coordinating signatures among multiple parties. While some advanced features can feel complex and the pricing can be high for expanded use, the core functionality is efficient and dependable, making it a valuable tool for day‑to‑day document management.

Pros

What I liked most about DocuSign was how much it streamlined the entire signing process. It made executing documents fast and efficient, especially when multiple parties were involved, and eliminated the delays that come with printing, scanning, or couriering documents. I also appreciated how clear the audit trail was and how easy it was to track document status in real time, which gave confidence that everything was completed properly and securely.

Cons

What I liked least about DocuSign was the cost and complexity once you move beyond basic use. Pricing can escalate quickly, especially when you need advanced features, multiple templates, or higher sending limits. I also found that some settings and workflows aren’t very intuitive at first, which can slow things down until you’re familiar with the platform. For occasional users or simpler agreements, it can feel more robust (and expensive) than necessary.

Overall it’s been great when it comes to being unable to obtain a wet signature, or when I have to have multiple providers sign the same document over and over.

Pros

I love using DocuSign for my documents I need multiple providers to sign. I can control the order in which providers receive the documents and it keeps going until it gets back to me. I can easily sort and organize the documents in which I need signed.

Cons

I dislike how there’s a time limit on a signature, and if the provider failed to sign in time I have to resend them all over again.
