July 16, 2025 5.0 Xero was easy to configure and put into use for a very small nonprofit without a trained accountant on the staff. Pros Well designed user interface, automatic account synchronization with most major banks, easy to use reports with significant customization options. We have had a very enjoyable experience working on our finances and all financial operations with Xero. It has helped us to budget more accurately and to easily monitor our cash flow. With Xero budgeting and expenses tracking tools, it has been easy to properly utilize and manage our financial resources. Pros Xero budgeting functions makes easy to allocate and control our financial resources for our projects. It offers detailed financial reports that help us monitor how our finances are being utilized. Xero powerful analytics provide precise financial insights that allow us to measure our business financial health. It also has compact security tools that ensure complete safety of all of our financial data. Cons We have seen nothing bad with Xero. It works so perfectly and has had no downsides. It’s a great product for small business and people who are not well versed in accounting. Cons The customer support isn’t great. The support is all through email. You can’t call someone to speak to if you have a problem. Aside from the BAS limitation, it’s been a reliable and user-friendly system Pros Excellent value for money. It integrates smoothly across multiple companies, which makes financial controlling much easier. It’s very intuitive, and giving access to tax agents is simple, which makes collaboration straightforward. Cons You can’t amend BAS retrospectively. The platform is great and not difficult to learn, and the customer service is excellent. Pros It is very user friendly. We are a small nonprofit without a formal accountant and were able to set up our business and run reports in ways that are simple but useful. Cons There isn't anything I don't like. There was some confusion for me around setting up our chart of accounts but I was able to meet with someone from Xero and they solved the problem quickly and gave me a wonderful overview of the platform. April 8, 2026 4.0 For our business, Xero works well. It's relatively easy to use, but perhaps lacks some features which could make life a bit easier. Pros Xero is a pretty good invoicing/accounting platform which integrates well into our business. I like the email templates and ability to send quotes/invoices with custom messages, feels personal but is simple to set up. Works well for the amount of invoices we handle (200 a year ish). Cons There are certain little things which I have found a little difficult. For example, I can't just paste an address in and it auto-fill the City/Street/Zip code, you have to individual paste in each field. Also, once you have send and invoice, you can't then add automatic email reminders. I also thing the overdue invoice page UI could be improved to help our finance department be a bit more organise, e.g. AI features could work well here (flag invoices which are unlikely to be paid based on past experience or due dates). The mobile app is great for checking my financial numbers while I am on the go. Pros Bank reconciliation is fast and saves tons of time. It makes collaborating with my accountant very easy and transparent every single month. Cons The basic plan limits how many invoices you can send. The dashboard is very intuitive and I have never have any issues. Pros I use it from a payroll perspective but I know it has lost of other functionality. It is very easy to use from adding employee data to running reports. Cons I think the holiday tool could be better. It isn't easy to calculate holiday in the same way as HR software. It is my preferred accounting software. Pros Built on a good bank feed as a solid foundation, makes the information reliable. Functionality is reasonable, not amazing, but reasonable is perfectly fine. It has a good balance of usability and functionality. Cons Recent price hikes are difficult to swallow, particularly if payroll is a requirement. Xero used to have a payroll only option for about $15 per month; their 2 person payroll plan is now $90 per month, and will presumably rise again next year. There are other quirks too that could easily be fixed by inexplicably aren't. They're not as responsive to these quality of life changes as they were initially, presumably the big company "not my job" inertia problem. Pros Xero has a great interface that makes accounting tasks easier even for non accountants. It is cloud based so you can access your financial data from anywhere and it integrates well with banks. Automatic bank feeds, invoicing and reconciliation saves a lot of time. Cons Some advanced features require add ons which can increase cost. Customer support, while helful, can be slow to respond during peak times. I also found pricing may also be on the higher side for small business with very basic needs. I enjoy using it and it does almost everything i want it to. Pros Intuative to use, feature rich, clear layout and appears to have a lot of investment/ improvements being made. Cons You can't see a log of any emails/ reminders you've sent. You can see the time and date stamp in the notes section but not what they read. The app is handy but a drastically cut down experience. Its wide range of integrations also allowed us to build a connected, scalable finance system with minimal effort. Pros \- Automation of finance tasks: Easy to set up Bank feeds; Easy to send out invoices; Easy to complete reconciliations such as stripe/other payment gateways using automated matching software which frees up a lot of time. Cons \- Reporting and workflows aren’t very flexible like some other larger ERP systems, which can be frustrating especially as our company grew in size and required more advanced and granular reporting. It was also easy to resolve mistakes. Pros Zero is a very well designed software which is easy for the customer and accountants with many reports that are easy to use. Amazing software for payroll and financial management. We mainly use it for administrative expenses, not to receive payments, but we can see ourselves using it in the future. Pros It is very easy to use, and it has everything you need to run a payroll properly. I have been using it for a couple of years and it has been great. Cons I wish they had video tutorials on YouTube when you first set it up. It can be quite tricky and complex for beginners. It takes time to get a hold of all the feautures. January 10, 2025 4.0 Xero is an excellent tool that has allowed me to manage my department's expenses in a transparent and orderly way in simulation projects, prevention exercises and detailed analysis. It has allowed me to pay vendors and reimburse expenses for services such as security consultants, incident response companies, relocation of response teams to different geographical areas, mobilization teams and replacement of damaged infrastructure, etc. Pros It allows me to manage my department's accounting in real time, giving me a clear and up-to-date visualization of expenses. It helps me a lot in generating reports with balance sheets and cash flow to reliably assess profitability and make better decisions in the future. Pros the ease of use, it is quick and easy to process invoices and calculate the vat at the end of each month for our accounts. Cons sometimes the OCR reader/scanner doesnt read the entire invoice meaning that you have to manually pick out parts of the invoice and input yourself.
