It is a reliable tool for managing daily finances without any hassle. Pros Xero is extremely easy to use for beginners and that dashboard is very clean and gives a quick overview of my business finances. I really like the reporting features they are detailed and easy to generate and It offers great value for money considering the time it saves on manual work. The features like invoicing and bill tracking are very helpful. Cons Sometimes the customer support takes a bit longer to respond than expected Occasionally and I have faced minor bugs and issues with the bank feed connection but they usually get resolved. I don't enjoy finance and accounting but Xero makes it really easy! Pros Xero makes managing my finances so much easier. Invoicing is straightforward, I can easily reconcile all of my transactions and can run reports without having any finance knowledge. My accountant can also access it easily to do my taxes. It makes budgeting a breeze. Pros Xero is so easy to use, one of the better and more flexible accounting programs. The links to accounts, hub docs, and tax make this a go to for any accounting use Cons Xero is user friendly, so no real cons of note. I honestly have yet to find a fault or anything negative. I would like to see better pricing for micro businesses and for the banking sync to get worked out. Pros I've been with Xero for 3 years now. Customer service is great. I've had to use them a few times for various things and they always get things handled quickly. The dashboard is easy to use and figure out so was setting up my books. Overall, it's a great product. I like the new budgeting tools and reports are robust. Syncs easily with my Square and Amazon accounts. Cons The constant price increases are tough for me to keep in budget. The bank syncing is clunky. There are full months when I can't import the transactions and then have to enter each one manually. Those months suck. Very frustrating when you then have to waste so much time to get the non existent phone support. The bots are useless Pros Invoicing is terrible… the repeat reminders become permanent. Their upgrades are time wasters. Their phone support is non existent. Their quote to invoice details are always incomplete. You have to rewrite details from quotes to invoices. It’s not easy to navigate. Quickbooks was way better.. I would go back but they have incentivised them so I can’t use quickbooks. Cons Most things. The quote to invoice was not complete. Difficult to delete invoices. The reminder invoices become permanent with new invoice numbers. We use Xero for our payment, expenses and invoicing and it’s fantastic at what it does - very easy to use. Cons Not much I can think of. Maybe when approving expenses it would be good if you could select all for easier approval - or if it could provide reporting on pay and expenses that would also be good. It keeps everything organized, and honestly, handling invoices or reconciling accounts feels way less stressful now. Setting it up takes a bit, but after that, it just does its thing exactly what I want from accounting software. Its not flawless and sometimes gets on my nerves, but I count on it to handle the money side of things right. Pros Xero is easy it is to use day to day. The layout is straightforward, so I’m not wasting time trying to figure out where things are, and I can quickly see how the business is doing financially. Bank feeds and automatic transaction matching are a big time-saver and cut down on manual work. I also like that it’s in the cloud which makes it simple to check accounts on the go and share access with my accountant without any hassle. Cons What I like least about Xero is that it can feel a bit pricey once you’re actually using it, especially if you require the extra apps. Some of the features just aren’t as flexible as you’d want, which can be frustrating when you’re trying to get a simple answer from a report. Bank feeds usually work fine, but when they stop syncing it’s a hassle to fix. Pros Xero has saved me a lot of time due to automated postings, intelligent bank rec and bank feeds. Cons The permissions are not granular enough to control users in the way that I would like. You would think this would be a simple fix that would significantly increase the penetration of the product as its the way forward. Pros Good for small businesses. Simple to use any can be used on any device. Modern interface and great reporting. Just wish it could do a little more. Cons However, if you have to manage sales orders you need additional software as you can only raise quotes then invoices. This then creates a whole load of integration issues. The support is not there with either the other supplier who blames Xero or Xero who blame the 3rd party supplier. A minefield. Just being able to click and submit on rti submissions is great. Invoices and accounts generally decent. Pros Easy to use, well set out and organised, payroll is mostly smooth, invoicing and payment processing is straightforward and easy. Cons Some aspects of payroll aren't equipped for specialist HR requirements. Movement between members of staff in the payroll list can be confusing as it removes them from the list when clicked on the staff member. End of Year requirements are persistent even when all completed. Can be quite expensive compared to other software products. But you need to remember it is taking a lot of left work out of the usual admin which is still a saving. Xero upscales and enable us to keep up with fluctuating mortgage rates and housing prices. It provided us with realtime updates of our financial aspects which help inform our clients and accurately process all their transactions. Pros Xero provides a sleek and simple interface that has enabled us to set up our loans and mortgages as either bank accounts or non current liability account, allowing for detailed tracking of payments, interest and principal amounts.This helps us to accurately manage high volumes of loan transactions and correctly recording all financial data for tax and reporting purposes.Additionally, Xero automatically pull transaction from banks and credit card which allows for easy reconciliation of bank statements and loan transactions that accurately match bank records. This saves us time and reduce the need for manual data entry. Xero also supports management of business credit cards and PayPal accounts, which facilitates smoother financial operations. Xero's cloud based nature is a plus. It enable us to access our financial data and clients debt reports from anywhere Cons Xero has been dedicated in solving our needs. Pricing is fine as i dont need to emoloy a bookkeeper as i can do most of my own accounts. Its relatively easy if yku have multiple businesses as there are separate profiles for each business and integration is simple for most applications. Pros An intuitive and easy to use interface. The API connects to most banking APIs and has all the necessary features. I can connect to VAT divitally and via HMRC so I am compliant with government regulations. Cons There is little wrong but logging in i have to use my back up email address that is olay but it would be easier if the log in procedure was a little simpler. The advanced accounts reports i dont use so much and the enoloyee/payrol i found a but tricky so some additional training would be required to fulfill some of the more advanced features. It will be a lot less stressful at the end of the month reporting, however, I would like the support team to be more attentive in case of technical glitches. Pros The dashboard is exceptionally clean, and it provides me with a brief overview of unpaid invoices and cash flow. Cons Customer support is not easy to contact in case there are problems. Cons Value for money is not there there are free apps, that anyone who is organized at a 4 on a scale of 1-10 can use. Cons The number of additional applications needed to achieve the full experience our company requires. We are not an E commerce business. A lot of the applications do not help our business. The platform itself is built with a bit of an archaic feel which is a downside but for accounting? Who cares.. Pros I liked the simplicity of it and how it was easy to use. It was a great program to get started with. Cons I didn't like the lack of support. They have gotten better with support over the years, but there is no number to call or schedule an appointment with. Also, their prices keep increasing substantially and they don't care if you've been there for many years they will still increase it on you which is why I left. It is extremely cheap as well as being fast and easy to set up. It is really made for non-financial people, so the whole thing is really user friendly. They also have a great online help forum with articles covering how to do most things. Cons It is not great for multi-company businesses as you cannot be logged into more than 1 at once, you have to chop and change between them and to make intercompany transactions, you need to post separately in both entities. June 13, 2025 4.0 Overall - I swapped to Xero from MYOB and I’ll never go elsewhere. It does everything I need it to in the one spot, and it really is seamless. Pros I love how user friendly Xero is! It’s so easy to get the hang of and super simple. The help forum is also amazing and every time I’ve been stuck, I’ve had my issues resolved so fast. Cons My only fault with Xero is the back end looking super outdated. I feel it needs an upgrade so things look more accessible. I mainly refer to the invoicing settings here. Custom invoice templates and colours etc would be a great addition.
