Pros

It is easy yo use, easy to set up and provides very good user training. Provides room for customisation as well.

I would highly recommend Xero without hesitation. The platform is great and not difficult to learn, and the customer service is excellent.

Pros

It is very user friendly. We are a small nonprofit without a formal accountant and were able to set up our business and run reports in ways that are simple but useful.

Cons

There isn't anything I don't like. There was some confusion for me around setting up our chart of accounts but I was able to meet with someone from Xero and they solved the problem quickly and gave me a wonderful overview of the platform.

I feel as if I've been scammed by xero out of 3-4% of my income on top of their monthly fee as a hidden surcharge for doing business using them. I am upset by having to look for an alternative solution in the middle of my work month after stumbling on this and seeing no effort to rectify from xero's side or justification for the fees they're just there without notice, recourse or warning.

Pros

Payment gateway set up was easy. Initial set up was fairly simple. I like that invoicing customers is simple enough. As a consultant, I found that valuable. The dashboard was complicated though and getting specifically to my customer payments not intuitive.

Cons

I feel I was cheated by them. They were charging anywhere from 2.92 - 4.42% in "xero application fees" on top of the stripe fees for stripe's payment processing. I only saw these fees once I went into my stripe portal to process a refund after a month. It's not even a standard rate and the variance isn't based on dollar amount, it doesn't make any sense. This means in order to process a client's payment through xero and stripe, I'm paying anywhere from 6-10% in fees with stripe and xero combined. None of these fees were explained up front from Xero's end though stripe's certainly were. Just googling "xero application fees on stripe" I find I'm not the first or even the first dozen to raise this problem and none of the raised responses on their message boards lead to a resolution. I'm now being forced to research another payment portal provider in the middle of the month because I refuse to send this last month's invoices and pay 10% in fees to xero for it. As I look into other applications like quickbooks, they don't charge fees for payment portal, I've gotten no explanation from xero as to why they do. Furthermore, stripe allows payment processing fees to be passed onto the client, this fee is yours as a xero customer whether you like it or not.

I only needed a payment portal and monthly invoice system, freshbooks was trying to be an all-in-one solution and not doing it "all" effectively. I switched to xero because my primary client had other consultants who were also on xero and I wanted to ensure I was sending similar invoices that wouldn't be jarring to the client.

Extremely affordable cost and the functionality is right up there with other name-brand programs. My accountant loves it and funds it very intuitive.

Xero is one of the best accounting softwares I have used. It's very user friendly and perfect for small businesses. The limitation is for bigger businesses that have multiple subsidiaries, however for small businesses wanting to manage everyday accounting, it's the perfect choice.

Pros

It's very user friendly. The bank feeds, journals, AP and AR function are all very straightforward and the layout is nice to use.

Cons

Importing the chart of accounts can get a bit complicated, but that's expected. There's not much else I don't like.

Overall I like the flexibility of the invoicing and reporting within Xero. We do not use the online payment option, yet. I would highly recommend.

Pros

The process for entering invoices and tracking what we are billing is very easy. I can easily pull reporting (balance reports, invoices, profit and loss, etc). This software is a great value for the money. I have not experienced any bugs or issues.

Cons

The reason I originally did not use Xero was because our bank does not connect with Xero. Our accountant manually adds the data from the bank. This is on my bank though, not Xero.

My overall experience with Xero is very positive with it being very useful for business owners and accountants. With easy to use functions and clear mapping for reports and other accounting information.

Pros

Xero is a brilliant tool for both experienced accountants and owner manager businesses. Xero is easy to use and very beginner friendly with a wide range of pre-made reports and automated bank reconciliation functions. Additionally the mobile app is an extremely useful tool for business owners.

Cons

The only issues I have with Xero are minor, this being the format of the reports when exported to excel.

Xero has become a standard tool I use to understand my business performance since incorporation and a tool I believe I will continue to use at least until my business scales to the next level and I need to put other plans in place in terms of managing my business accounts and reporting. At the moment this is just me as a solo founder, I would love if Xero could also facilitate this transition for scaling businesses with a scale up or expansion onboarding aspect to ensure that practices and requirements for accounting are always easily accessible. Overall I think that I couldn't have picked a better tool, though I am financial literate I am not a chartered accountant yet I feel Xero has allowed me a much more effective way to stay close to my company financial performance, even greater than relying on outsourcing to a more expensive professional in the traditional route.

Pros

Xero onboarding and low cost entry point for start-ups and first time users give the perfect opportunity to validate the value of this platform. It takes times to understand and know if an accounting service provider is giving you what you need and the onboarding process did exactly this for me and my business. Once I had my integrations set up with my bank for transaction tracking managing my company accounts has been easy, I've been able to easily issue and track invoices for my customers as well as ensure that my accounts are to hand when it comes to VAT and other government reporting requirements relating to financial statements preparations.

Cons

Xero offers great integrations and really high value use for retrospective accounting. It seems that there is a real opportunity for the team to offer forecasting tools and predictive scenarios to help business owners to plan for their upcoming financial quarters and years ahead. This can be benchmarked or leveraged at a later stage using historical data that is entered into the platform. At the moment I find that I can best deliver this analysis outside the platform however I think that there is place inside the service to manage this aspect of running my business.

The transition was smooth from our former system and has been very straight forward since we started using it.

Pros

The option to tailor the system exactly to the needs of our team, the clear and well laid out user interface and the direct connection with the bank accounts, making reconciliations quick and easy. Minimal training was required to get people to the standard needed for basic day to day tasks.

Cons

Nothing to note! All team members are very happy with this system and are really comfortable using it.

### "Used to be good, but Xero no longer cares about supporting their customers"

I've been a user of Xero for over a decade, and I've always found them to be a good platform. However, recently there have been more and more price hikes, and then this year with very little notice (2 months), decided to remove the very basic functionality of manually entered payrolls. For some users they have an option of changing their payroll provider to one which integrates with their platform, which is awkward mid-year, and incurs additional costs. In other cases, users are in a region where there is no partner payroll provider available! On top of this, \_another\_ price hike has been announced for the coming months. So in the end, they are raising prices while removing functionality and inconveniencing customers that have been with them for many years. Given the choice between changing accounting platforms or payroll providers, we are looking at getting off Xero, given their increasingly customer-unfriendly practices recently.

Pros

Xero had been a good, simple platform for our small business for many years, covering our needs at a reasonable cost.

Cons

In the past few months removed functionality that we and many other users rely on, while at the same time having raised prices with another increase occurring in another few months.

Pros

I've been with Xero for 3 years now. Customer service is great. I've had to use them a few times for various things and they always get things handled quickly. The dashboard is easy to use and figure out so was setting up my books. Overall, it's a great product. I like the new budgeting tools and reports are robust. Syncs easily with my Square and Amazon accounts.

Cons

The constant price increases are tough for me to keep in budget. The bank syncing is clunky. There are full months when I can't import the transactions and then have to enter each one manually. Those months suck.

I haven't had any negative experiences with Xero. They have a lot of documentation and instructions to find out answers, too. It does everything my CPA wants it to and it's easy for me to stay reconciled on a daily basis. I never panic when tax season comes, I just print reports.

Pros

I've been using Xero since 2021 when I formed my LLC. I love that it has a proper general ledger with codes, and standard accounting reports like Chart of Accounts, Profit and Loss, etc. It also has a reasonable price point. It's easy to copy previous invoices and send new ones even on the app, too! Even better, you can add a user like your CPA so they can download reports as well.

Cons

There are some company settings that I have a hard time finding -- like putting in my logo and those kinds of things. I also wish the logo on the invoices could be larger. It's not enough to have me use FreshBooks again.

Overall very good and subscriptions can be upgraded when required. Pricing is fine as i dont need to emoloy a bookkeeper as i can do most of my own accounts. Its relatively easy if yku have multiple businesses as there are separate profiles for each business and integration is simple for most applications.

Pros

An intuitive and easy to use interface. The API connects to most banking APIs and has all the necessary features. I can connect to VAT divitally and via HMRC so I am compliant with government regulations.

Cons

There is little wrong but logging in i have to use my back up email address that is olay but it would be easier if the log in procedure was a little simpler. The advanced accounts reports i dont use so much and the enoloyee/payrol i found a but tricky so some additional training would be required to fulfill some of the more advanced features.

My overall experience with Xero is extremely positive. It offers everything I need to successfully do the accounting for a non-profit with good safety features, different user profiles and access, and storage.

Pros

Xero is an excellent cloud-based accounting platform that is easy to use, and offers very good quick and responsive customer support. Its simple, clear dashboard makes everyday accounting tasks—such as invoicing, bank reconciliation, and expense tracking—efficient. It has many different functions and capabilities which speed up reconciling and customisable reports. It is able to integrate with other software and banks. It offers great value for money for all the features it has.

Cons

Xero can slow down when you have a lot of transactions, but into the hundreds of thousands and it is not too slow that it is unusable, and this is a minor element, and all the pros outweigh this small con.

Pros

How easy it is to use. They are always around new features, that is so important to me. New dashboard is good. Reporting is easy.

Cons

Two clients i work for are charities using CAF Bank, so automatic bank fees are not available. So having to do this manually is a pain.
