I've tried a few bookkeeping programs and either they didn't have enough features to be useful or they were so overly bloated, it made it difficult to do basic tasks or get simple reports on the health of my business. Xero threads the needle perfectly, being simple to use and get the information I need while still being robust enough to fill all of my business needs.

Pros

Xero is very affordable and the learning curve is much lower than other bookkeeping programs. The reporting dashboard gives me the information I actually need and it's a breeze to hook up my accounts.

Cons

Sometimes my accounts disconnect randomly and it takes a little bit to get them synched up again without missing any transactions or having them appear more than once.

Cons

Some reporting components are too complicated, but it is improving with recent updates which is great, including the dashboard.

Pros

I mainly use Xero and love it as it's so easy to use and has a clear layout to find where you can get certain information from. It's also leaves a good trail to see when bills were created, who by, if anything has been changed and when. It gets regularly updated and easy to link up bank feeds

Cons

It's a little bit pricey, and the payroll software (paid extra) isn't as good as other payroll software

In the more than 5 years we have been using the software, our experience with Xero has been overwhelmingly positive. The improvements and new features that have been added in that time have been relevant and well implemented

Pros

For us as a small manufacturing company that exports its products worldwide, Xero has proved to be an excellent fit with our needs. It integrates seamlessly with our bank accounts in multiple currencies, as well as our MRP system. The VAT reporting makes submitting VAT returns a very straightforward process. The product is simple to use and all members of our team are comfortable with it. Overall, it provides a high degree of functionality at a very reasonable price point.

Cons

My only complaint would have been that tools for visualising your financial data were a little thin on the ground, but the new analytics features seem to have addressed this.

### "A nice alternative to Quickbooks"

It's been good overall experience. I would suggest it to others, especially if they are looking for an alternative to the overpriced Quickbooks.

Pros

If you already understand accounting programs like Quickbooks, it is relatively easy to transfer to Xero. I enjoy the ease of use and reports which are customizable for specific needs. Setting up contacts, products and services and the chart of accounts is easy too. The import and export feature works nicely too if you are setting up a new account or moving data from one file to another. I also like that the price is less and more reasonable than Quickbooks.

Cons

I wish Invoice, Quote and PO templates were easier to customize. I wish I could send attachments with POs. We need to send art files with our POs. I wish the APPROVE button was at the TOP of the POs like it is in invoices. I keep sending POs that say DRAFT because the APPROVE button is at the bottom.

### "Used to be good, but Xero no longer cares about supporting their customers"

I've been a user of Xero for over a decade, and I've always found them to be a good platform. However, recently there have been more and more price hikes, and then this year with very little notice (2 months), decided to remove the very basic functionality of manually entered payrolls. For some users they have an option of changing their payroll provider to one which integrates with their platform, which is awkward mid-year, and incurs additional costs. In other cases, users are in a region where there is no partner payroll provider available! On top of this, \_another\_ price hike has been announced for the coming months. So in the end, they are raising prices while removing functionality and inconveniencing customers that have been with them for many years. Given the choice between changing accounting platforms or payroll providers, we are looking at getting off Xero, given their increasingly customer-unfriendly practices recently.

Pros

Xero had been a good, simple platform for our small business for many years, covering our needs at a reasonable cost.

Cons

In the past few months removed functionality that we and many other users rely on, while at the same time having raised prices with another increase occurring in another few months.

Xero does what we need it to do. It is reliable, easy to use, and is one program we don't have to worry about having issues with.

Pros

Xero is a great piece of kit, we use it for payroll general accounting and tracking and paying bills, it also is integrated with our retail and inventory system. One of the best things about Xero is how much software will connect/integrate to it.

Cons

Xero's default inventory component is not really usable for a business with stock, inbound and outbound inventory. If that is part of your use case I would recommend finding another piece of software to integrate with xero.

I haven't had any negative experiences with Xero. They have a lot of documentation and instructions to find out answers, too. It does everything my CPA wants it to and it's easy for me to stay reconciled on a daily basis. I never panic when tax season comes, I just print reports.

Pros

I've been using Xero since 2021 when I formed my LLC. I love that it has a proper general ledger with codes, and standard accounting reports like Chart of Accounts, Profit and Loss, etc. It also has a reasonable price point. It's easy to copy previous invoices and send new ones even on the app, too! Even better, you can add a user like your CPA so they can download reports as well.

Cons

There are some company settings that I have a hard time finding -- like putting in my logo and those kinds of things. I also wish the logo on the invoices could be larger. It's not enough to have me use FreshBooks again.

The randomly changing dashboard gave me issues for a while. Not as user friendly as it could be and not easy to self navigate

Easy to use, good value for money, and integrates well with other platforms to make it a really powerful tool

support has to be given by messages which is fine, but always nice to have a agent to talk to for complex issues.

Overall Xero get a big thumbs up from us, it would take a lot to convince us to change software. Very easy to follow and makes accounting mire fun.

Pros

With accounting going digital, Xero is affordable and user friendly, allows multiple usersvwith various levels of access. Oir accountant is a verified user so we get top notch customer support through them. Endless features allow each individual to approach reporting and reconciliation in whichever way suits them but all lead to the same resaults. The Dashboard can also be customized to suit which information is important to you and allows to you see the important information at a glance.

Cons

There isnt really anything to dislike, If you don't understans how to report and record your income and expenses i imagine it could be a little daunting. But with initial guidance, it all comes clear very quickly.

Xero pricing is extremely attractive and ability to use it from anywhere us a huge plus.Automation kg bank feeds and reconciliation helps to save another of time and reduces errors. Integrates seamlessly with PayPal and bank which makes it easy to handle payments and purchases. Offer real time visibility into financial data .Gives live dashboard for cash flows ,expenses and invoices .

Cons

Xero has a limited reporting though for anyone who needs standard reports it meets the needs perfectly. For more advanced reports sometimes it require additional data add -ons.

I have never had any major problems, but if i have had to deal with support, they have always fixed things quickly.

Pros

How easy it is to use. They are always around new features, that is so important to me. New dashboard is good. Reporting is easy.

Cons

Two clients i work for are charities using CAF Bank, so automatic bank fees are not available. So having to do this manually is a pain.
