The best thing about Xero is that it is cloud based which means I can access it from anywhere and can manage finances also the process of bank reconciliation is pretty quick.

Pros

Very easy to navigate, as someone new to accounts spaces I find it very intuitive and user friendly. I especially love that the home page is customisable so I can change it to only see the accounts I need. Invoicing is a breeze, with option to import invoices straight from emails and copy previous invoices it saves so much time! The reporting area can feel intimidating to begin with, but once I favourited the ones I need I now find it very straightforward.

Cons

There have been some occasional reliability issues, with updates sometimes taking a day or two after the incident to be communicated by their support team.

My overall experience with Xero is that it used to be one of the cheaper options for small businesses and it can be good for accounts with very little traffic. However other subscriptions are better for the price point.

Pros

Xero is good for bank account reconciliation when it syncs with your account. It is good for testing as it has a demo company you can always reach

Cons

Xero compared to other softwares add five extra steps when there only needs to be one. The tax set up is horrible and pulls up many errors. Everything goes to a suspense account that needs manual clearing and integrations are blocked so you have to approve them in Xero as well

simplifies daily bookkeeping with intuitive features, real-time bank feeds, and seamless third-party integrations.

Pros

The dashboard is clean, modern, and easy to navigate even if you have no formal accounting background.

Cons

Xero’s subscription tiers have increased in cost, which can become expensive for users. The built-in reporting can feel slightly basic if you need advanced customization.

Overall, my experience with Xero has been very positive. The platform makes managing finances and accounting much more organized and efficient. Its easy-to-use interface, cloud accessibility, and helpful automation features save a lot of time and simplify day-to-day bookkeeping tasks. While there are a few areas that could be improved, Xero has been a reliable and valuable tool for managing business finances.

Pros

What I like most about Xero is how simple and user-friendly the platform is for managing business finances. The dashboard is clean and easy to navigate, making it simple to track invoices, expenses, and cash flow all in one place. I also appreciate the cloud-based access, which allows me to manage accounting from anywhere, along with the seamless bank integrations that help save time and keep records accurate.

Cons

What I like least about Xero is that some of the more advanced accounting features can take time to learn, especially for new users without an accounting background. There can also be occasional syncing delays with bank feeds, and certain customization options for reports and invoices feel somewhat limited compared to other accounting software. Additionally, the subscription pricing can become expensive as business needs grow.

Pros

I personally could not find any meaningful positives during my experience with the platform. I also encountered issues where account balances and financial information did not always appear accurate or clear, which reduced my confidence in the software overall.

Cons

I’m honestly still shocked by this experience and wanted to share it so others are aware before signing up for one of Xero’s promotional offers. I signed up during a 100% off for 6 months promotion. After the promotional period ended, billing resumed automatically on an account I was no longer actively using. I didn’t realize charges were continuing until multiple payments had already processed. As soon as I discovered it, I contacted support and explained the situation. I wasn’t demanding anything unreasonable — I simply asked whether they could provide some level of goodwill refund or adjustment considering: the account was inactive, I caught it shortly after discovering the charges, and I had not continued actively using the platform after the promo ended. What surprised me most was the overall experience afterward. There was no phone support option available, and I couldn’t even properly access my own account to manage the cancellation until I enabled two-factor authentication. The cancellation process itself was much more difficult than expected. After escalating the issue, their billing team ultimately told me: they do not monitor account activity, they do not send reminders before promotional pricing expires, and subscriptions continue indefinitely unless manually canceled. Technically, I understand they can point to the terms of service. But from a business perspective, I genuinely do not understand burning a potential long-term customer relationship over roughly $150 on an inactive account instead of showing some flexibility or goodwill.

My overall experience is that the cloud-based system allows users to access their financial information from anywhere, and its integration with many third-party apps makes workflow management much more efficient for reporting and any other tasks. It can be accessible through mobile.

Pros

Xero is an excellent accounting platform for small and medium-sized businesses. I really like its clean and easy-to-use interface, which makes invoicing, expense tracking, payroll, and bank reconciliation simple to manage.

Cons

One thing I like less about Xero is that some advanced accounting features can take time to learn for new users. In addition, customer support response times may occasionally be slower during busy periods, and certain features may require higher-priced plans.

Overall, I find Xero very easy to use and it produces the reports we need well. Xero keeps us well informed with changes.

Pros

Bank reconciliations are quick and easy with the "match" function which easily allocates receipts. Being able to memorise bills also saves time entering.

Cons

Lately there have been some software issues which slowed things down, but these happen rarely. Overall performance is great.

Pros

Covers all my needs and more for a solo business. Useful as it's one of the gold standards for accountants

Cons

Overly complex for a solo business owner and therefore too expensive for what I am using it for, but locked in as everything is in there now.
