It's become the perfect option for our small businesses by automating tax data, self-service access via desktop or mobile app, and all the additional workforce management tasks. We couldn't be more pleased!

Pros

We love how fast and automated payroll processing has become for our employees with direct deposit and same-day payment.

Cons

No cons! Our employees find it super simple whether on desktop or the app! It's been a super easy transition for our employees.

Paychex Flex.is a great option for a small to medium sized company. Software was easy to use and understand, and their customer service was top notch.

Pros

Easy to use, and fairly affordable. The Flex software worked great. Perfect.payroll solution for small to midsized companies.

Cons

The pricing continued.to increase every year until it was unaffordable. Set up process was a bit complicated, as well as the process of leaving the service.

I was very unhappy and the amount of times there were errors or late release of payroll was an ongoing concern. With banks releasing funds 1-2 days early I always would spend hours explaining to staff that it was not us but the payroll service that had to release the funds and generally released them very late in the week although my payroll was completed on Mondays

Pros

The staff that I encountered was very helpful and always assisted when possible, it just always seems I had always talked to someone that may not have been as knowledgeable about the procedures and processes to correct problems

Cons

The pricing and the length of time it took to resolve issues with payroll. In my time working with them I rarely ever encountered anyone who was able to immediately fix an issue without involving other staff members

It is a very easy program to use it is clear and concise not confusing at all! I especially like the ease of it!

Pros

The ease of use and the mobile app. Sometimes I'm on the go i cover several sites the fact that i can just use my phone to clock in and out as well as put in any request i have in the app directly is so convienent.

Cons

I don't like that it takes you directly to the new version and not the original 1st. I have not had time to familiarize myself with all the new features yet from the ones i have used this is very easy to use.

The navigating process is simple and easy to utilize. All of our employees can manage and track their time, and access the new PEO benefits beginning on 04/01/26.

Pros

Ease of use and I love that I can keep track of my payment schedule and have access to all of my hours worked and documents. Also, a new feature has been introduced to our practice. The PEO benefit where we as employees can take arrange if empire benefits, 401K, Health insurance and so forth.

Cons

There is nothing to dislike. I find PayChex to be very useful within our healthcare practice and it works really well.

My overall experience was good. This software was a great tool and I loved that it was cloud based as a manager.

Pros

Easy to use and navigate at times. The setup was manageable and allowed for easy learning and training not only for me as the manager, but training other employees to use it as well.

Cons

Sometimes, there were quirks and hang ups. It would get frozen, lock employees out or just not work when trying to onboard new employees.

It's a positive experience. Good value with an easy interface. Great for a small organization. Easy to make updates.

Pros

Very easy to use for a small organization plus it's a good value. Very intuitive so you can pretty much figure out everything yourself. Helpful customer support. Makes all the tax allocations by state easy.

Cons

Some of the functionalities have different support teams, and the teams aren't cross-trained - so you can wait on hold only to be told that they need to transfer you elsewhere. My dedicated rep is never available and hold times can be very long for general support.

Paychex Flex is extremely easy to use. Everything paycheck-related, I can find and edit extremely easily if need be.

Pros

I really enjoy the minimalist design Paychex has. IT allows the user to easily navigate and quickly understand the UI.

Cons

The only bug I have ever ran into is the authentication servers were down for an entire day, so we were unable to login.

I love that it is easy to use, intuitive, and convenient, especially for mobile time tracking. It also offers good self-service options for employees.

Cons

There are difficulties getting support when issues arise. There were errors in tax filing (W-2s) and slow resolution to problems.

Overall, it has been a great experience making the lives of the management/HR much more productive and streamlined. Billing and payment are both available but have only used the payment side of things.

Pros

Paychex Flex was a great secure way to manage pay stubs for employees that could access at any time with an ease of use UI and great customer support.

Cons

The app would occasionally have a "cooke" or cache bug of some sort. Never really figured out what it was, but it was a minor inconvenience if anything that we had to tell each employee to force stop the app/clear cache to log in again successfully.

I think Paychex Flex is a great product. The navigation pane is organized well and easy to use. I enjoy using this product.

Pros

I like that Paychex Flex is so easy to use. I can easily access my hours, paystubs, and request PTO from my organization.

Cons

I do not like how when I clock in on the dashboard screen, it is not reflected in my log. Instead, I have to go to Time & Attendance to clock in and see it reflected in my log.

I would give it a 4 out of 5. I have been with them for 20+ years. I had the same representative for 13 years then after that I got a new rep every 3 months. Finally after complaining I finally got a rep again that has been with me for 2.5 years. But the billing aspect is really rough.

Pros

East of Use, Online portal is simple to use. System is always running and takes me only minutes to enter in payroll.

Cons

The billing is unclear. Invoices outside of the normal payroll deduction i have to hunt for to find out what i am getting billed for. Fees go up every year without explanation or notification. I have to re-negotiate every year and then trying to get credits takes hours of emails and work.

We recently switched to Paychex Flex and have been loving it. Customer Support made the change from our previous product super easy and walked us through every step of the way.

Pros

Paychex Flex has been super easy to integrate our payroll for our employees. It is very user friendly and the document storage is amazing.

Cons

We have not found any cons with paychex flex yet. It has been very easy to set up for our business and have been very happy with it.

Pros

I liked that the self-service aspect of the products and the ease of use. Customer support was good and for the size of my previous company the cost was good.

Cons

When I downsized I had some issues that they were not able to resolve. It was not on them though so I had to go with another company.

It's been good so far. It's not easy to use when adding a new hire. Uploading and signing documents is not easy to navigate.

Pros

I use the admin section. I personally like that I am able to approve my teams hours and that I can break it down by pay week or pay period.

Cons

When there are punch in/out errors from an employee, there's no option to print the individual error or the full time week itself which is needed for my business because we need signatures approving the adjustment from the error.

It’s a great application for our work in a small business setting for us the workers and owners to stay communicated on our pay rate, and tracking how much vacation time in sick time we have for the year

Pros

User interface is easy to use and easy to find info your looking for ( hourly pay rate, vacation and sick time off ) and with requesting time off it’s easily communicated to my employer.

Cons

In the five years of using paychex if I would over 10 hours its stops logging my time but thankfully there a option to clock out they my employer can see so my paycheck comes out with the correct time logged

Sorry to be so blunt, but it was a complete nightmare. I have worked with two companies in a row, where I cam in and they were using Paychex. Both places begged me to find a better payroll provider that met their needs. Each time I found a new payroll provider that could supply the employer with what fit their needs (and yes it was two different payroll providers).

Pros

Only positive is that it is cheaper than other payroll companies and very easy to use. It is vey hard to find anything very positive with all my experience with Paychex.

Cons

Customer service is not very pleasant to deal with when I had to call and place complaints for mistakes on Paychex's part. I would not trust them with proper tax filings, they have very basic reports and you have to call for any report that may be a regular report for you but is not one of their very basic reports.

Overall my experience has been amazing. Easy to use, great customer support when needed. It makes clocking in and out and managing paystubs a breeze.

Pros

Do easy to use. Keeps track of all your important job information. Makes clocking in and out a breeze. Gives you the option to check and be sure your hours are correct and let your management know if they are not. Definitely worth the costs. Also keeps a detailed list of members of your company do you can communicate directly easily.

Cons

The only issue I have had is a bug that keeps clicking me out around lunch. So I often have to have management go in and correct my hours.

Pros

The ease of use, great communication, great customer support and overall, a great tool to get all HR duties completed in an efficient yet user friendly manner.

Cons

Don't have any at the moment. Every feature that I need has been fulfilled in this application as well as great reporting.

My overall experience would be although paychecks flex has one of the best platforms for payroll in HR. In my opinion it’s not worth the hassle.

Pros

Paychex flex has one of the best employee active self serve platforms that I’ve ever had the opportunity to use. Does not many bugs and issues a great value for your money and a perfect way for the team to communicate very easy to use.

Cons

What I like, least from paychecks was customer support, or lack there of. I’ve had one of the worst experiences, trying to get someone to reply to an email once you’re done with your demo paycheck. Flex becomes very un empathetic and very hard to reach.

I found it easy to use. It was easy to review timecards, add associates, modify information. I would need assistance only when the clocks would be moved.

Pros

Very helpful when I needed tech support. We moved a couple of times and every time I requested help getting the timeclock reset up, every person I talked to was very good at explaining what to do.

Cons

Can't really say anything was bad, it was very user friendly. Occasionally , the time clocks would not sync and that would be a little frustrating, but it was easily resolved.

It's better than some apps I've used but not as good as others.

Pros

The reports are good and easy to customize.

Cons

The modules work independently of each other. One should be able to enter information in one location and have it 'spread out' to all other locations. This does not happen so you often have to enter the same information in multiple locations.
