Since practically everything in our organization currently uses AD, Okta seamlessly connects and assists us in managing granular user identities. We can automate a lot of the onboarding and off boarding processes thanks to this, which saves time. Pros Okta offers a straightforward, easy-to-use, yet effective SSO protection cover for all business or work related logins. With okta verification, no trespassers or unauthorized individuals can log in or access my workspace or data. It increased security and verification by one level. I enjoy how easily I can access all of my application in one location. I also find that to be ok. I have security and privacy thanks to Okta. Cons It doesn't work well mobile devices; I'm having some trouble using the Okta lifecycle Management platform on my phone; maybe, this problem will be fixed soon. If it gave slightly easier configurations and substantially more customization choices, the user interface would be greatly enhanced. I've heard that it's better to use if you implement it at the very beginning, but can be frustrating if you switch over to it later. My experience has been the latter, so if you're interested in it, just be aware of that. Pros It's nice that all my passwords are managed by one software. And the app is somewhat useful as well. Cons I'll consistently get locked out of the software, and since everything is tied to it, all my other software as well. The registration (onboarding) flow was easy for users to follow. Integrations to in house developed application + AD was easy to implement. Reporting to see which users were internal vs external made it easy for us to implement different password policies. We were also able to integrate with other clients that were already using Okta for SSO. Cons In my opinion the API rate limiting tiers are expensive to operate at scale. I love that Okta saves my passwords for me and will update the saved password as needed. Cons There are times my Okta saves applications that I don't need or what to be saved. No need to type in my password every time I'm logging in or worry about security breaches because Okta saves it all. It has a plug in which makes it even more accessible as you can log into another software without going through the hassle of getting to another page and signing in. It also only requires on log in session so you needn't constantly have to resign into it every time you need to get to another software. The phone's app UI is sleek and modern and receives the authentication requests very fast. You can also add your personal websites that use multifactor authentication to it. Cons No cons to be completely honest. And that's the reason why my company has incorporated it into a lot of things. This is one of the best IAM tools present out there. Pros The deployment and app integration with Okta is fairly simple. The tool is very admin friendly and user friendly. It's due to it's ease of use and wide variety of features that it offers, it is one of the best IAM tools and regarded as one of the best SSO solutions out there. The SSO integration is very simple and straightforward with most of the apps and most of the vendors that support SSO integration with Okta. The option to have an independent directory as well as an option to integrate with your existing directory works quite well. Other features such as life cycle management, Directory service and threat management make it a complete package. If cost is not an issue, this is should be the tool to go to. The documentation is very clear and the supoort is very responsive. The deployment takes less than 3 months. There have been few issues where I needed to reach out to support teams and even fewer issues that were undocumented. Pros Okta is so easy to use with our Office 360 suite and dashboard apps (Splunk, New Relic, PagerDuty). We have internal teams that use it for SSO auth across our application ecosystems, and we use both the web and mobile apps for day-to-day access. Pros It is really great to have the Okta system, as the user only needs to log in once to be able to access all his applications from one place, which I find very effective, especially when they do not use many applications to complete their tasks. I really appreciate how Okta allows me to customize the tabs, so that I can quickly and easily get into the application I need. I really appreciate the notifications that Okta issues when logging in, where you must enter the code to complete the login process, as this process makes me feel safe. Cons I do not think there are negatives to discuss, as Okta is low cost and easy to set up and use, and the notification system is distinctive, and also the layers of protection that it provides to users are strong and reliable. Pros The most important feature for me as a user is a single sign-on option. I should pass the auth flow dozens of times on a daily basis to various services and platforms configured on my projects.In addition to this, from the security perspective, the login and the password are not saved on my work PC, so if I had to use the standard auth flow with credentials filling, it will be very painful to repeat it so many times daily.The SSO helps me to pass the authentication just using my phone, it is very handy!I can verify my identity by clicking the button on my smart watches, or I am able to confirm the 2FA with my cell number usage. It offers the advantage of having access to business resources centralized in a robust, customized security and access control system. Resetting OKTA in the admin portal is super easy. If someone gets a new phone it only takes a few minutes for users to get set backup on their new phone. It is simple and user friendly. Pros Very easy for the end user. It offers both push notifications and text options. The OKTA app just works. Haven't had issues with it going down. Cons It still offers a Yubikey option, but it doesn't always play well with some websites in Chrome. We discontinued that option for our users. Also if a user is signed up for text and there is a delay in the text delivery, there isn't a great way to troubleshoot it. The app has been very reliable though. Review Source SF Seth F. Our sales rep left out very important details that would have dissuaded us signing up. First, the SSO paywall for 3rd parties is so massive and of course they left out that detail. For $12k per year, our costs would exceed $50k in 3rd party charges, just to connect the core apps we use on a daily basis. Second, they said Okta would work seemlessly for our customer service reps, who check in on email accounts and different software services that we use; however, after talking to 3 customer service reps, we found out that we could not achieve this using Okta, making this all-or-nothing deal fall short of our needs. Thirdly, they insisted that we pay them to get support on the product that they sold us on. I would highly recommend first googling "SSO wall of shame" and thinking twice about signing with Okta. They are hounding us to pay for year 2 when we did not even launch it in year 1. Steer clear of these guys, they will bait and switch and they only care about signing new customers. Pros Getting the team set up was relatively straightforward. Cons Setting up individual apps can be tedious and not straightforward. They offered no support unless we paid them. The paywall for SSO is very steep. Multiple users cannot access single accounts using Okta Verify. The biggest benefit is the fact that Okta is compatible with a host of applications (both internal and external). As a user, I've been greatly impressed by the tool and would recommend to anybody contemplating it. Pros Okta truly lives up to its name by serving as a one stop shop eliminating the need to sign in to a host of applications separately hence reducing the time taken by such sign ons massively. Further, it also serves as a password manager/ vault and I, no longer, need to remember passwords to all the different applications (both internal and external) used at work. Our organisation is increasingly migrating more and more applications (such as VPN, microsoft office, our intranet logins, etc to Okta) - which is massive plus. Cons The initial set-up of the app takes some time to complete and can be slightly complicated. As an additional security layer, Okta requires you to input a security code generated on the Okta Verify app on your phone. Always in the next second and SUPER easy to use. Would recommend! Cons 2 things: -Sometimes it doesn't recognize me in the correct location. Sometimes its FAR off. - When you mark "do not challenge for 24 hours" it only respects that if you log back in on the same web browser. If you close your computer or change browsers it will challenge you, even if you chose not to earlier. Only thing i would recommend them checking out.
