Analyst Medical Devices Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Domo Provides Critical BI Functions at Lower Cost" February 12, 2024 5.0 Overall Domo provided all the functions needed out of our BI software and allowed for the connections needed and provided excellent customer service when needed. Pros Domo provides all of the essential functions of other products including data connectors, data visualization, data ingestion and exports, as well as dashboard creation. Domo does have a learning curve to learn the difference in how the back end functions are different, but anyone with previous experience should be able to pick it up. Cons At times Domo can be slower than other products, and does sometimes crash when ingesting large amounts of data. I have all my main filters saved so I am able to dwindle down to my saved features and I get right to my answer. This help a lot because I work on a lot of accounts so it is tedious work. But DOMO allows me to effectively and efficiently move my workload along! Pros I use DOMO frequently for my job to collect data metrics. I like how easy it is to access DOMO. It's easy to filter down to the exact metric you are looking for down to the date, metric and number amount. I also like how easy it is to export the file into a Microsoft Excel pdf. When I need to send me findings, I always need to attach the DOMO report which is easy to download. Cons DOMO can be a bit confusing and overwhelming to use when you first look at it. But this is because of how detailed it takes you when you are searching for your data. Once you get the hang of it and know how to save your filters, it is a piece of cake to utilize and is very effective. Review Source EB Eleanor B. It's also easy to collaborate with colleagues on projects within Domo. Cons The interface itself isn't the most intuitive. Trying to navigate to different boards/projects can feel a bit jumbled at times. It can also be confusing figuring out how to request to join a card/project if you don't know who the owner is, or having to contact them outside the platform since the notification system doesn't always seem to... notify people. Cons I sometime wish I could create my own card template, and have had to export data to excel to create specific visualizations. Additionally, combining data sources can be clunky. Working with various data sources, scheduling pipeline updates and reports, setting up alerts, and managing data lineage is easy. Cons Writing and debugging SQL code in ETL pipelines is complicated and long process. Cards are not very responsive to resizing. Everything is laid out and simplified in a way that allows you to create visualizations in a user friendly way. Cons There aren't many cons but some of the pre-built connectors don't work as intended and it's the responsibility of the vendor to fix. None of the Storage/ETL/BI use cases I can think of would I put domo in my top 3 options. I have found it to be subpar in data warehousing, query editing, and data visualization which from what I can tell is the majority of its functionalities. Pros This product provides a web-based hub for your data and visuals that centralizes where your team focuses to interact with their data. The ETL tools provide an easy to use low/no code interface to build simple queries. Cons Where Domo has removed complication (I assume to ease the use) they have dramatically limited this software capabilities in comparison to competitors. limitations include: - No ability to build visuals based on multiple tables - No ability to build filtering capabilities across tables - No ability to build relational models with existing tables - All "scripting" capabilities are glitchy and limited in their capabilities - Poor/nonexistent version control options - Compute resources are not brokered well and during high traffic times we can have dataflows run for up to 2 hours My worst experience with domo was with their customer service/integration team. One of their prebuilt integrations to a popular Web App, which domo is responsible for maintaining and servicing, has never functioned properly with our domo instance. The support case has been open for nearly a month and has just been escalated to someone that appears to know how to read the code I have been sending them to trouble shoot THEIR integration. They have promised resolution timelines twice and are now 2 weeks behind their initial promise. Cons It would be nice if Domo provided more options for color coding summary data (text and/or numbers). I also appreciate more gauge options both in terms of functionality and colors. It has solved countless reporting problems an saved thousands of hours spent repetitive reporting tasks for our team. Pros It's incredibly powerful and allows any one (regardless of coding or data science background) the ability to create dynamic reports and complex data automations. The best part of Domo though is the customer support. When you call support you get a human right away and they are always ready to help regardless of how complicated your problem is or how much time it will take to solve. You never feel helpless with Domo, only empowered Cons It costs a fortune and they have no entry level packages. they also have a habit of releasing awesome features that aren't included in the main package and that cost puts the platform well out of reach for most companies. Reason for choosing Domo Domo does it all and you don't need development support to deploy it. It has native connectors to most data bases and was up and running in our firm in less then six weeks. The platform is user friendly and building visuals are straightforward, although they can be limited at times. Cons Domo's support team definitely needs improvement - their response time is lacking and frequently ask for information that has already been provided in the initial ticket submission. Just need more training options for specific subjects. Update the developer site. Pros Very powerful and very flexible software. Lots of options to get data into Domo and to manipulate it. Cons Training/Learning. I have to search all over the web to learn how to do things. When I work with Domo developers I'm told the training material is out-of-date and I should be doing something another way. (I appreciate the honesty of the developers, just not the out of date training material). Need some kind of tier training system. We can understand our business in a way we never could before. We honestly don't know what we'd do without Domo at this point. It's fantastic. Pros We were originally looking for dashboard software. Something like Geckoboard, but we wanted something more advanced. We were using multiple tools, and wanted to collect data from them. We then found Domo. Within days we had integrated our CRM database, Website Analytics, Invoicing database, and Order Processing database. This let us take a look at EVERYTHING. And I mean everything. Things like: What's the average time between receiving a lead and the rep calling them the first time? What's the average time between a customer ordering, and reordering? How many calls have my reps made today? (Updated every 15 minutes!) What landing pages on my website are receiving the most looks? How are my google analytic campaigns translating into converted customers? Cons It's pricey, but worth it. The biggest thing was the last update they had screwed up some of my reports, and we're still trying to figure out what happened.
