I was able to transfer my payroll info into Patriot quickly and efficiently using their help pages. The price for the payroll software is affordable for clients like myself who are solo practitioners. Cons There is a learning curve to using software like this, but that is to be expected. Their help pages are easy to follow and the videos that demonstrate the steps are a great added touch. Reminder emails about approving payroll would be helpful. If I make a mistake, support can always walk me through fixing it. Pros Taking out payroll from QuickBooks to Patriot was the ABSOLUTE best thing we could have ever done. The cost was considerably lower, and they don't hassle us with additional fees for every little thing. AND they process our tax deposits! That's the best part of all. The customer support is superior to any other support I've ever used. The techs are kind, patient, and walk you through anything and everything. Running payroll is the easiest thing, takes no time at all. We've been Patriot client for over a year now and have not run into any issues or glitches at all. It's smooth to use and I can run payroll from anywhere. My phone, at home or just at my desk. I will always give it a 5-star review! Cons I cannot think of one con or negative thing about Patriot Payroll. Quickbooks was a pain and Patriot took that all away! It was a perfect fit for us, and we immediately implemented it in 2017, and haven't changed or even considered changing since then, even through our renewed growth. Pros The value of the program and ease of processing payroll for our small company. It provides very detailed reports, and is very easy to navigate the system. Cons Haven't found anything yet! Every report, every aspect, every output product, even through updates to the software, has been easy to implement and utilize in our ancillary programs. I've tried a number of payroll services, and Patriot is way, way beyond anyone in terms of actually being helpful. Some of my past services, most actually, were billion dollar companies, but for the life of me, I don't know how they got that way! Cons There is \*nothing\* to not like about Patriot. The website is one of the most logical that I've used. Their help website is also one of the best I've used. I've only had to contact support a small number of times. Pros Patriot gives me the right level of features without relying on a big payroll company administrator. Cons The Time Off Request feature (beta) does not allow a negative balance. The manager role cannot add people. Each employee can only have one direct line manager who can edit their punches and approve their time off. Pros I like Patrios because they deal with all the Payroll stuff for me. I appreciate their support with the click of a button. I had the option to use other companies but so far, 2 years into it, I like Patriots. Cons The automatic emails that didn't make sense but they were quick to resolve it. They sent me automatic emails saying my EIN was wrong OR OTHER ISSUE, not clarifying the issue. I had to reach out to the State and to Patriots and escalate until they figured out what was wrong. Overall, it is the easiest software we have ever used and love that it takes care of all of our tax compliance issues so we are protected and make sure our employees taxes are always paid. Pros Patriot Payroll is super easy to use. If offer an array of features that our company can grow into and is exactly what we need right now. The few times I have had to contact support, they were quick and efficient and very friendly. We like that employees can electronically receive their W-2s. Running weekly payroll is quick and easy. Cons We have not run into any problems so far with Patriot Payroll. Their have been no cons to speak of yet and we have been using it for 5 years. I will recommend them to anyone in the future. I enjoy their software is easy to use and intuitive. Pros One of my favorite things about Patriot Payroll is their customer support. I have used multiple payroll companies and contacting customer support is always a headache and I'm talking to someone outside of our country. I love that when I call into Patriot Customer Support that I am not on hold for hours and I am talking to someone who actually knows the software. Every time I've had to call support the representative was kind and knowledgeable and was able to resolve my question on the first call. Cons I have found only one con with Patriot, which is their payroll processing time. I wish it didn't take 5 business days to process payroll. I do miss having a 24 hour processing time. Overall, it's very intuitive and makes my job easier, all at a very fair price. Pros Very easy to use and easy on the budget. Customer service is top-notch! Love that they file the tax forms for me. One less thing for me to do. Cons Wish the vacation accrual time worked for me, but there doesn't appear to be a way to set a date that hours stop accruing. The only option is to set an accrual max limit which didn't work because people use their accrued time and therefore accrued time never reached the max. I have only had to utilize the customer service once and they were easy to reach and helped resolve my issue quickly. Pros Patriot payroll is so easy to use. It takes about 3 minutes to run payroll. Patriot takes care of all of the back office stuff for us. It literally couldn't be any easier. Customer service is easy to reach, they have clearly speaking and kind agents to help you quickly. It is very user friendly when managing employees in the system. We haven't had any issues so far and it is worth every penny! Cons I genuinely can't think of anything to list under cons with Patriot Payroll. We have not had any issues at all. The only time I've had to call customer service was because I just needed to confirm tax information and they answered and helped quickly. No negative feedback to give. My employees receive their pay on time, and that's what matter most. I especially love that they're a local Ohio company — I trust them to handle Ohio taxes well. Payroll is easy to run, and I get it done much faster than I did with QuickBooks. I may be open to exploring future Patriot Software products in the future. Pros Patriot excels in their customer service. All of their employees are extremely knowledgeable in any issue. I trust that if I have any problems, they will be able to help me right away. Cons I wish billing information was more visible when viewing "My Products". I have a variable amount of employees each month, and I'd like to know how much I'm currently paying. Additionally, I don't care for the 4 day ACH Direct Deposit. My business runs payroll biweekly on Sunday, and as a result of switching my employees now receive payment 2 days later than they're used to. I understand Expedited 2 Day ACH Direct Deposit, but I could not find any information on how to become an "established, well-qualified customer". March 6, 2026 5.0 I would suggest Patriot payroll, the ease of use, value and customer support are great. 2025 was the first year I used it so when it came time for the W2's I had a few questions and I contacted customer support (right on the computer) and she walked me through step by step. She was very helpful and patient with me. Pros I think it is very easy to use. Any questions I had I clicked on "help" and it gave me the link for the everything I was looking for. I also think the price is great, I was using Quickbooks prior and the price was getting ridiculous. Cons The only thing I don't like is when I am doing payroll and if I want to make a wage change for someone, I have to start my payroll all over. The hours I entered in already don't save. So far, it has exceeded my expectations. Pros Patriot Payroll was easy to set up and easy to use. The interface is simple and intuitive. Prior to setting up, I called customer service as a test. I got a human on the phone quickly. They were knowledgeable and answered my questions. During the setup, we had additional questions. The person who answered the phone answered the questions without transferring the call. The pricing is very reasonable. The program is easy to use, customer service is excellent, and the pricing is reasonable. You can ask for anything more. Cons We have been using Patriot Payroll since January 1, 2026. There is NOTHING I don't like. We were using ADP. I wish I had switched long ago. Patriot has proven to exceed my highest expectations, and I'm very grateful to have found it and to use it. Pros It is extremely easy to set up and use, is a great value for the money, and helps me smoothly run payroll and pay payroll taxes. Further, whenever I have a question or challenge with some aspect of payroll, all I have to do is email customer support and I then receive a prompt, thorough, and thoughtful response that helps me solve the problem I'm having or completely answers my question. Cons There is nothing I dislike about it, so it's difficult to answer this question. Here's a very minor issue: sometimes the amounts in payroll differ by a cent or two from my reckoning -- it's clearly a rounding issue, and I easily work around it, so it is of no consequence to me. If you need simple payroll for a few employees, or a robust platform for many employees and 1099 contractors, we feel confident using Patriot. And we can't stress enough how much their customer service outshines everything and everyone. Pros Simple and user-friendly, but still always implementing new features to make life easier and improve on their already great foundation. The number one best thing about Patriot though, is their customer service. We may run into issues with the software, but being able to chat or call someone (and get a real person), has always compensated for any software shortcomings. Cons I do wish they would go back to including a broken up version of the quarterly tax filing reports, in addition to one big packet for each quarter. Clients will often request just a 941 report, and we have to send a full packet or take the time to extract that one report from the packet. It was nice when you had options. We recommend it often. It is one of the few services we have that we haven't changed or considered changing during the lifespan of our business. Pros Patriot Payroll has a learning curve but it's not difficult and there are plenty of helpful FAQ and instructions, as well as customer service available by chat or phone. I like how, now that we've been using it, it's easy to do our bi-weekly payroll. Overall, though, what I like most about Patriot Payroll is the customer service. We'd had few issues, or questions, but each time we've been helped promptly by someone who genuinely seems to care about helping. That's not common these days. Cons It's a bit rigid and not entirely intuitive until you get the hang of it. More video tutorials or even a "Patriot Payroll 101" online orientation class may be useful.
