Cons What I liked least about Eventbrite is that some Concordia events filled up very quickly, and the platform didn’t always show clear availability until I tried to register. The event weren’t where you thought they would be. Pros It is pretty much the standard. It's easy to set up a series of events (collections) and you can have different ticket types. People can "follow" you so they get an update when you create new event. They promote your event with similar ones across the site. The few times I had to contact customer service went well. It's easy to email all registrants Cons There are two main drawbacks. One, the site is so complicated that you can fall down a rabbit hole just trying to change one detail. Two, while you get a lot, the fees are very high and they keep going up. Either your guests cover them or you have to. We ultimately went with another platform, Zeffy, where fees are optional. Another lesser issue is the Organizer app doesn't have much functionality beyond checking people in. You can't make changes like event banners or description. When organising more complicated events, i think other platforms perform better. Pros Eventbrite is very straightforward to use and the user experience is easy. Fees are reasonable, so you get good value for money and it's a well known platform too. Plus there are many customisable options to ensure you get the data you need from attendees. Cons When using eventbrite I ran into a few accounting issues and resolving them was really tricky due to a lack of customer support. You can have an event description, set max number of tickets, and collect emails too. Cons A lot of times people get spam registrations and there doesn’t seem to be a way to resolve that. Scanning peoples' codes is ok, as I tend to misplace business cards anyway. Keeping the entire conference from being a disaster through having the maps located right there, is a plus for me as well, as I don't tend to get lost. Pros I'm literally typing this with the laptop fan screaming at me and I wish I could be sleeping. Eventbrite was able to manage my agenda and keep everything in order without me having to do anything. I was really impressed that the real time updates were working, especially considering the rooms changed locations. I also didn't expect to have to continuously log back into the site but I never did. Cons I got screwed on the leaderboard due to the fact that the same question was worth two different points and they would not allow me to correct it once I selected the 4,000 one. Cons Sometimes bugs can be observed during updating of events near the start date. Email messages are not always timely, which introduces minor delays in communication with customers. Pros As an end user of Eventbrite over the last 8-9 years, I have always found the platform intuitive and easy to use. From using the platform to book onto events as part of my MBA programme to booking tickets for the family, the platform works well. I have never required support from customer service, such is the ease at which the platform can be used and the confirmation emails received after placing a booking is useful, especially with tools to quickly add events to your calendar. As an end user the value for money is exceptional, as no service charge is payable in my experience, when making a booking. The platform appears to be bug free (which is rare) and I have never encountered an issue with booking tickets. Cons There’s very little to dislike. It just works as expected. If I were to try very hard to find something I dislike, it would be the layout of printed tickets, but this is entirely trivial and it in no way impacts the use of the platform. If you are thinking about using Eventbrite for your event, I strongly recommend you read this first and avoid making the same mistake we did. We used Eventbrite to sell tickets for our national tour — and ended up losing over $3000 through a "Boost ads" system we never turned on or approved. THEY STOLE OUR MONEY! Eventbrite auto-opted us into paid advertising without consent, started spending our money on who-knows-what "ads," and provided no evidence that these ads even existed (even eventbrite support could not tell me where the ads were run or even how to manage them!) No reports, no audience breakdowns, no proof. When questioned, support gave us vague, dismissive answers. They would not refund anything despite the charges being unauthorized. Getting our attendee data was another nightmare. We had to manually export multiple different reports just to get a list of buyers vs attendees — no simple way to see who bought and who checked in. Even the basic act of "exporting your customers" is buried under poor UI design. In short: Steal money from your credit card! Hidden fees No transparency No proof of advertising services No ownership of your customers Broken exports and outdated systems If you value your business, want to protect your brand, and respect your customers — avoid Eventbrite at all costs. Pros Nothing - They stole money from our account, and their poor customer service have been dragging it out for 4 weeks with no refund as yet! Cons THEY ACTUALLY STOLE MONEY FROM OUR CREDIT CARD... and they refuse to refund it?! They need to be shut down! This is actually a scam! I have reported this fraud to my credit card company.
