The attendance tracking and overall value of money spent on bamboo HR definitely has me referring them to all of my colleagues.

Pros

What I love most about bamboo HR was help personal, the software adhere to your company even something as small as the colour scheme and your company logo. That definitely means a lot to small business owners like me.

Cons

There’s not much to dislike about bamboo HR however one thing that I didn’t like too much was the implementation time. It took a little long to get fully implemented however it was worth the wait.

Our usage of Bamboo was more as an overlay system - as a multi-national employer, we have multiple payroll systems which created challenges with reporting and data analytics. The Bamboo platform allowed us to aggregate our data and maintain a unified system for reporting. We do also use the Onboarding module which has definitely helped us streamline the onboarding experience for both the new hire and internal teams. Not having leverage the Payroll & Recruitment modules I can't weigh in, though we did obtain a quote for full-service payroll at one point which was extremely competitive and comprehensive. We didn't pursue it as we weren't ready to move our Payroll at that time, but it was a compelling option! I'd recommend Bamboo for small to midsized organizations that are looking for a platform that has the ability to integrate with a multitude of HR and non-HR platforms, has solid reporting and an overall good user experience.

Pros

The Bamboo platform is very intuitive and customizable. The availability of integrations enabled us to combine records from multiple payroll platforms so we had one unified system for reporting & analytics. The Bamboo support team is also top notch - super responsive and easy to reach. The cost of the platform is very competitive, though some recent changes were implemented that force you to purchase modules you may not need.

Cons

Based on our usage of the platform, there was very little we had issues with. Perhaps the one area that we had some challenges with was the Onboarding module and the way you're able to configure tasks. For example, there isn't an option to configure a task based on whether the role is a people manager role. In the reporting functionality, there is an option to filter for whether the person is a Supervisor (i.e. has direct reports). But this option doesn't carry over to Onboarding, so unless you build a task by Job Title and maintain that task, you have to manually add the task when the person being hired is going to be a Supervisor.

Pros

What I liked most about BambooHR is how it simplifies managing employee and information in one place. I appreciate the intuitive interface which makes it easy to track time off and records.

Cons

What I liked least about BambooHR is the mobile functionality is limited compared to the desktop version.

Overall, we didnt think it was a bad software solution for HR use. It allowed for time and expense tracking, benefits administration and employee unboard and oerformance review and tracking. We just preferred our currebt solution and decided to stick with it.

We thought the backend/admin user interface was very easy to navigate and didnt require alot of training to be able to use the prgram efficiently.

Ultimately, we discovered that the software features were not as robust and not as easy for our employees at large to use and manipulate as our current solution and and decided

It has a side panel and a top panel. Side panel has a home page, my info, info about the team members and files. On top is inbox, resources and settings. Home page gives a nice overview for the company. Also one can visually see the hierarchy in an org chart.

Cons

The scope of this tool is limited in this day and age. It seems outdated. Limited customisation eg for organisations with multi-entity

Love it, but it lacks the customization and data architecture that would better support us as we scale and integrate with more and more systems.

Pros

The end user experience is unrivaled. Simplicity, surfacing only the most relevant information. The approval processes allow you to comment back and forth with other approvers and clearly shows where it is in the approval flow.

Cons

The inability to add custom fields to standard tables requires the creation of separate custom tables that are not connected to standard tables and requires the duplication of data. The approval workflows should be more customizable in the order and quantity of approvers and even more dynamic of who the approvers are.

### "Simple but easy to use platform"

Implementation was smooth. Adoption rate is 99% and all of our staff have enjoyed the software and capabilities to manage their own information. Performance reviews were never a breeze, but I got all reviews done within 3 months - which would normally take about 10 months, with constant pushback from my managers.

Pros

The platform is very user friendly. That we're able to customize the platform colors and company logo, helps make it feel more like an extension of our company.

Cons

Not a con necessarily, I just wish that BambooHR was more like a PEO. We love the platform and really wish we didn't have to use multiple platforms to handle our HR tasks.

Overall, using BambooHR is surprisingly pleasant—almost suspiciously easy for HR software. It actually does what it says on the tin, with just enough quirks to keep you entertained. You spend less time wrestling with paperwork and more time pretending HR is fun, which is… somehow impressive

My favourite part was that it doesn’t make basic HR tasks feel like a full-time job. A surprisingly low bar, but BambooHR clears it

Cons

The only downside? You can’t bend it into a full circus act. Other than that, it’s almost too simple.

The sales experience has been horrific. I was even hung up on by the most recent person I spoke with. Why can't companies just have transparency and integrity in their pricing.

Pros

After reviewing their website and attending a demo, their software seems to have all the features I would need and a very intuitive design.

Cons

The sales process is broken. I have tried multiple times to get pricing and they insist on getting information that is irrelevant to the pricing. They have 3 tiers and I just want to know what the pricing is for each tier.

when I worked for a business with highly complex HR needs we had to consider alternative solutions. it should include different province taxation, advanced deductions and international payroll options. it should be more optimized to run more faster, be more smoother and be feature-rich.

Pros

it seems to be very intuitive and easy to navigate interface. Very simple for anyone really to use without a huge learning curbe. It has employee data management, time off tracking and performance management. It also allows staff to access and manage their own information hence reducing hr's workload. it also can easily be used with other apps and platforms and offers integrations.

Cons

pricing is expensive with the upfront cost. It also requires add-ons and it is less robuts than dedicated payroll solutions. The customization I also find is limited. I find that if the companies are large, other systems are better suited than fit their needs than Bamboo HR.

Overall, Bamboo HR is an excellent HRIS platform. All the basics are covered including: Time & Attendance, Employee Documents, Employee Profile, Attendance Management just to name a few. It is easy to navigate through the site - and all of the applications are at your fingertips. The software is easy to learn. They offer a good after-sales customer support service.

Pros

Very comprehensive platform. Easy to navigate through the software, simple design structure to manage employees, profiles, attendance and training and development. Easy to learn software.

Cons

Sometimes there is a delay when loading documents and when entering the new employee setup, but that should be expected.

We loved BambooHR, and I do miss it. However, we grew so much in size, that BambooHR could no longer support us the way we needed, and we found ourself doing a lot of manual processes on our own.

Pros

For me: the simplicity. The employees would say they liked that it showed a live countdown to the minute of how many hours/seconds they have worked (while still clocked in).

Cons

The limitations for larger mid-size companies. Of course, when we switched carriers I heard that they expanded their capabilities, so maybe they are better than when we used them in 2024.

I love it. I have used several different apps for timesheets and payroll tracking, this hands down the best app with the most features.

Pros

Super easy to us and navigate. Allows me to easily track all my timesheets, pay stubs and request time off. Also let's me know if their are any new company policy documents I need to sign.

It sometimes has trouble loading, but very rare. There have been a few times no one in the company could clock in.

Pros

It was easy to clock in and clock out. It also was easy to enable locations to know where your employees are clocking in and out.

Sometimes it glitched and people that would clock in or never clocked in, or they would be clocked in and clocked out at the same time.

Easy to use intuitive software. Profile features let's you see where you are as an employee easily.

Cons

I'm not sure the way your holiday entitlement is displayed is as good as it could be. Where you have requested holiday, which has not yet been approved you are still shown the total amount of holiday available, even when you select calculate. This is misleading.

Sometimes under “Hiring”, individual resumes and cover letters will not open in Chrome. When this has happened, I have switched to Microsoft Edge. Later I discovered that simply refreshing the browser sometimes corrects this problem in Chrome.

Overall, I have had a positive experience with BambooHR. If they keep updating the system and giving us more customization AND start integrating with MVP health care and Guardian Insurances, we will be a long-term customer.

Pros

The system is very easy to use and everything seems to be where it should be. Customer service is top notch! I always get a response within a day.

Cons

Because of the ease of use, there are limitations to how customizable the system can be. Time Off accruals is a good example. There also needs to be more integration with major health insurance providers.

Easy to use, great help guides and customer service. Prior to the subscription changes, it was nice to only pay for what we needed.

Pros

BambooHR was so easy to use, had robust features for recruitment and onboarding, and payroll integration was great.

Cons

The only downside to BambooHR was the recent subscription changes. The new subscription tiers came with an increase of price and we were unable to keep the subscription we had, resulting in needing to find a different system due to the cost increase not being feasible for our small business.
