Whenever I'm not sure how to do something, there's a great library of tutorial videos. A couple of times I needed help and their customer support was great! They answered me quickly and gave me what I needed. My employees like the modern look and it's very easy to navigate, and our management team likes the reporting capabilities.

Pros

The ease of use, my employees love it and so do I.

Cons

I can't think of anything that I don't like about it.

Overall I have found PurelyHR to be pretty straightforward and inoffensive. It is easy to set different accrual rates, and I do appreciate the colourful ux design of the site. It is slightly frustrating that vacation days left are not explicitly shared with staff members, this also impacts that accrual reporting that we do as it does require math on our part.

Pros

I appreciate that I can ensure that people have different visibilities, that all staff can see everyone's time off, but that only the manager can read the specifics of the request. I do also appreciate that that PurelyHR will let me know how many staff members are off on the specific date and week to help myself as the admin, and other managers better prepare for our week or day.

Cons

It is frustrating the PurelyHR does not explicitly tell staff members how many vacation days or sick days they have left. Rather, there is a column for the total number of days accessible to them, and a column for how many days they have already booked. Although our staff members can do the simple math, it is odd to me that PurelyHR would not just have a column that did the math already.

Overall, if I knew of a resource I could reference anytime I need to for instructions, it would be so helpful. I appreciate the ability to schedule a call, but sometimes I need to generate information quickly and don't have the time to wait for a call. I wish there were more webinars on specific topics, rather than fewer that are so packed with information it's tough to follow.

Pros

I like that there is a variety of reports to access. I also like how easy it is for staff to use the time clock module.

Cons

There is a learning curve since there is no hard copy to reference for instructions. I also don't like that the modules don't communicate with one another. I have to pull reports out to Excel and manipulate the data there. It can be time-consuming.

Really good. I wish we used it even more than we do and the toolset and options are there for us. Again, customer services has been excellent and responsive.

Pros

We're a small business and PurelyHR provides an affordable way to track key HR and Admin tasks without investing in more robust (and ungodly expensive) platforms. It's a tremendous value and we're considering adding additional components in the future. Customer service has also been very good. We've been a customer for years and at times they have implemented ideas we've suggested.

Cons

They have added a lot of flexibility for performance tracking offering over the years. But I think this is the one area that could use further functionality updates to be more intuitive (specifically for Admins, not managers or employees) and perform like modern web apps. It doesn't change the equation – the platform is still an incredible value and this does not leave us looking for new solutions.

My overall experience with PurelyHR has been very positive, especially when it comes to customer support. During the trial period, I tested a lot of different platforms, and PurelyHR was the only one where I consistently felt supported. Anytime I had a question, a real person responded quickly and clearly, which really stood out to me and was one of the main reasons I chose them. Since signing on, they have continued to check in on us in a way that feels helpful and genuine, not overwhelming or sales driven. It feels like they actually want to make sure we are getting what we need from the system. So far, everything has been smooth and easy, and the experience has been exactly what I hoped for when choosing a platform for our team.

Pros

What I like most about PurelyHR is how easy it is to learn. This was the biggest factor for us choosing it for our non-profit. I tried a lot of other trials, and even as someone who is pretty tech savvy, most of them felt confusing or had too many steps. PurelyHR was the only one that felt simple on both the admin side and the employee side. It also feels secure, and we have never had any worries about that. In terms of cost, the pricing seems similar to other platforms, but as a non-profit it was still outside our budget. They offered a non-profit discount, which made it workable for us. We are not using the onboarding or payroll features yet, but for employee attendance tracking it has been excellent. There are lots of options to customize things, but it never feels overwhelming or complicated to set up. The communication from the PurelyHR team has been outstanding too. They checked in on us during setup to make sure everything was going smoothly and offered one on one support, which we did not even need because the system was so user friendly. Overall, it has the right mix of being easy to use while still having all the features we need.

Cons

So far, we really have not run into any issues. We have our full team using PurelyHR and everything with the time off calendar has worked smoothly. We have not used every feature yet, so I cannot speak to onboarding or payroll, but based on what we have used, there have been no problems to report.

Reason for choosing PurelyHR

We chose PurelyHR because it was the only platform we tested that could fully support our needs as an adult-learning organization. It allows us to track leave in hours (not just days), apply different policies for full-time and part-time roles, manage multiple leave types, and set automatic yearly resets. It also provides a clean approval workflow, a staff-wide calendar, and the ability for employees to see their balances easily. Compared to alternatives like Timetastic, Absence.io, Humi, and others, PurelyHR offered the best combination of hourly tracking, policy flexibility, reporting, and built-in HR tools (onboarding, staff records, and document storage) at the scale we need. Other products were either day-based only, lacked policy customization, were too complex, or were significantly more expensive. PurelyHR was the only one that met all requirements in one system.

We have had PHR for a few years now with no issues. I have had a really good experience and when I needed personalized support, it was there with a phone call.

Pros

I really like the ease of use and functions and PHR allows me to manage my team effectively. I really like the audit function that keeps track of time off for each employee. I also like how it keeps everything I need in one place.

Cons

We are a non-profit and operate on a very limited budget. The cost to have all functions would be my least favorite part of PHR.

We appreciate how user friendly the modules are. We love the product and the staff are very helpful when we have questions!

Pros

All of my supervisors love the ease of employee attendance tracking and the time clock. Leave is easy for users to submit and supervisors to approve. The time clock works perfectly! The price point is good as well for our small non-profit.

Cons

I can’t say that there’s anything that I would change. Of course, things can always be cheaper but this product is very reasonable compared to other solutions.

Pros

Very easy to use and setup isn't too difficult. Help Desk Support is also very accessible and friendly.

Pros

Clean, simple interface and easy for both Administrators and Employees to use. I also like that you can add or remove modules to suit your business needs.

Cons

It's currently only available in web form; an app would be much more effective and would render better for mobile users.

Pros

I appreciate the helpful and thorough customer service from the PurelyHR team. They follow through on problems and offer many solutions.

Cons

The performance module is a bit antiquated and clunky. There are not many options to personalize (tools, drop down options) the overall module outside of competencies.

With having 10 different school district schedules, admin staff and part-time, I am able to have all of them set up through different offices which makes my life so much more organized and efficient. Pros

I love the ease and convenience of the PurelyHR system. This is a timesaver for our organization. All of my leave requests, timesheets and even employee hire and resignation dates all in one place - easy access and dependability at its best.

Cons

The cost is expensive, but we made the decision that it is worth the price for the time and convenience it provides to our staff and administration.

Very good online time management tool that employees can use very easily. Great for end of year time off reporting!

Pros

Easy to request annual leave, sick leave or other leave by signing in online. It keeps a record of time used and the balance of time on hand.

Cons

You cannot request time off into the next year. Understanding that time off needs to be approved and cleared at the end of the year, it would still be nice to be able to request time off for the next year.

Pros

Setting up new users is very simple. The pricing is reasonable. The application has run seamlessly for our company for many years now.

Cons

The HR side of things is still relatively simplistic and we don't use/find we would get a lor out of those features.

Pros

Ease of use for Manager and employee to submit and approve time off via most computer systems. Easy to manage from the IT side of things.

Purely HR struggles with their performance review program as it doesn't allow different managers for reviews vs time off approvals

Overall we have been a PurelyHR customer for a number of years and we see great value in the product for our organization. It has everything you could need for your small business including the ability to customize holidays based on workers locations which as an organization with employees in multiple provinces is important.

Pros

As a small organization we needed something to track employee time off more accurately than just a spreadsheet and this software fit the bill. It's easy to learn and the time it saves in reporting and tracking is well worth the monthly cost. It's also great for figuring out carry over and balance projections.

Cons

i wish employees could cancel just one day of a multi day request instead of an admin needing to do it but that's really a minor issue overall it's a great product.

Great. My team has no issues managing the tool or setting it up for new years. As I mentioned in the above comments, easy, simple, and useful tool.

Pros

Clean user interface. Simple to use & Simple to teach. No hassle with set up. No bug issues. The scheduled reports are good for keeping leaders up to date.

Cons

Need an option for hourly employees for accrual. Other than that, the tool works great. No other enhancements needed.

Overall I enjoy the system and think it has helped streamline our processes with Time Off requests. For a small firm this works perfectly.

Pros

Support has been great and overall, the system is fairly intuitive. Onboarding new employees is fast and easy.

Cons

There are some learning curves with the system, and there is a limitation for hourly employees with the Time Clock and Time Off model that did not work for our firm.

Satisfied. The system does exactly what we need it to do. Autogenerated reports that we set up for managers and members of executive staff are very helpful and appreciated

The system is user friendly. I like the reports that are available as they offer a variety or ways to present information.

Cons

Correcting policies sometimes can be a bit confusing. I have noticed results in reports can be incorrect at times (ex. anniversaries). but that was on me - how I requested the data. Once I revised my search things appeared correct.
