### "Excellent CRM for Law Practice Management -- Small to Large Firm!"

August 6, 2025

5.0

Overall experience has been positive; have not even considered using any other software. Customer support is always available to assist, and Clio offers options to test new product features. The ability to "customize" add-on features is a plus for law firms with changing needs.

Pros

Clio is an excellent law practice management CRM with multi-faceted capabilities. Time tracking and invoicing are easy to use, and the client portal allows for paperless practice and document management. Clio is user-friendly and continues to develop features to keep up with changing technology including AI.

Cons

Accounting feature does not offer payroll; Clio Draft is not easier than using the built-in document automation.

### "HIGHLY RECOMMEND CLIO - For now and the next 5-10 years."

October 30, 2025

5.0

Aside from that minor, negative Con above, I Love Clio, as does my staff and colleagues. I've been practicing 34 years, and somewhat of a legal-tech nerd, and hope to remain with Clio for the remainder of my career (5 - 10 years).

Pros

Clio is constantly evolving, improving and innovating to improve the Customer (law firm) experience, consequently enhancing clients' matter outcomes and the client experience.

Cons

Pricing is seemingly disjointed. Separate tiers for Manage (LPM), Grow (CRM), Accounting, Draft (Docs/Templates/Automations), the CPI (Clio Personal Injury "add-on") and now Clio Work (Ai, Research, etc.) If these programs were integrated, and we could select them a la carte under various plans, versus what appear to be distinct packages (some based on user licenses, some that are mandatory for the firm), it would help. IF the CPI or DRAFT were included, maybe for a slightly higher price, it would seem more integrated. I understand the economics, costs to deliver superb service by Clio and value the various components bring, but it is becoming onerous and unwieldy for a solo/sm. firm.

### "Clio is just . . . meh!"

August 13, 2025

3.0

This is a good program for a solo or small office but a below average program for a large office. The more non-billing personnel you have and the more users you need makes the program cost outweigh its convenience and lack of flexibility.

Pros

Their customer support until 2025 was excellent, which means they know how to provide it. It has gone down recently choosing to say we are not seeing what we are clearly seeing or putting the problem in to development or even worse, blaming a third party vendor. They were good at helping resolve issues at one time. The program is easy to use and set up however and invoicing is relatively straightforward.

Cons

The per user cost and constant updating of services that are not included and frankly don't work well with their other services seems less of a subscription service and more of a toxic relationship that needs to be ended but for which few viable alternatives exist. We use the "devil we know" expression around my office to describe Clio is, which is not a service that would receive a 5 star review.

### "Clio is amazing!"

February 10, 2026

5.0

Clio has been great overall. I can communicate with clients easily, and the integrations make doing every day tasks easy. The AI support is also a really good feature. 9 times out of 10, it can answer my questions while also showing me step by step how to it.

Pros

Clio makes managing client files super easy. I like that we have the option to send documents for e-signature, and that Clio lets us know when it has been viewed and signed. The Outlook integration is amazing, if a coworker is unavailable for a specific client, I can go to the communications tab and see what is going on in their file.

Cons

In order to do things, such as creating a bill, it takes way too many clicks to accomplish. I would like it better if there was simply a button we can push.

### "Clio Keeps me on track!"

August 19, 2025

5.0

This user friendly system continues to amaze me as it has added more and more desirable features. Great for solo practitioners and larger firms alike!

Pros

The more I use Clio Manage, the smoother the administration of my business becomes. It is easy to use, can be adapted in many ways to fit your practice and customer service is great. It is my "go to" for calendar and task management. I am also now learning to use it to capture my client emails and communicaitons without need to use add-on apps and for better cybersecurity.

Cons

They add new features faster than I can learn them AND there are features in other programs that I would use but as a solo, I find that the added on-going cost is not worth the time saving it will bring me.

Reason for choosing Clio

I know what I looked at years ago - some were way to expensive for me as a solo

### "Overall great case management system!"

August 13, 2025

Clio is easy use and easy to set up. It provides multiple payment methods which is helpful in getting bills sent to client and paid.

### "Great Platform"

August 4, 2025

4.0

Overall, this is a great platform to keep everything in one place from contacts, documents, billing, time tracking, and invoices.

Pros

Cons

### "Clio Does It All!"

August 5, 2025

5.0

I have been using Clio for over 10 years and am extremely happy with the product. It is constantly growing and adapting with technology. It is user friendly and covers all our bases from invoicing to document management and even sharing items with our clients. Clio does it all!

Pros

I like the ease of use and cleanliness of using Clio. It is extremely user friendly for all ages and users.

Cons

My least favorite thing about Clio is its inability to automatically sync Clio Grow with Clio Manage. I think once this integration happens this software will be amazing.

### "Do not recommend for Australian lawyers "

September 25, 2025

1.0

Dissatisfied. Beware that if you’re not happy with their service and you’ve paid for a yearly subscription, they will say they will "check refund eligibility" and just cancel your account and not refund you without advising you.

Pros

Clio Payments was good - it was the only thing that worked well for me. Payments and billing generally

Cons

Everything else. The platform is not suitable for Australian practitioners — it is very US-centric and doesn’t align with our requirements. The system feels clunky and fidgety. Smokeball and Leap are far better alternatives for Australian firms.

October 9, 2025

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear Clio has not met your expectations and that your experience with our cancellation process was frustrating. We take any concerns raised by our customers seriously and understand the importance of clarity and transparency in service agreements. Clio’s subscription terms, including our refund policy, are outlined during sign-up and in our Terms of Service. While we do not offer refunds for monthly subscriptions after activation, we should have communicated this more clearly at the point of your cancellation request, rather than after processing it. We acknowledge the confusion this may have caused, and we will review our internal processes to ensure clearer and more timely responses in the future. We understand Clio may not have been the right fit for your workflow. Our aim is always to set realistic expectations during demonstrations by showing core functionality and relevant features for Australian firms. We will

### "They believe they are too big to fail...."

December 11, 2024

1.0

When building out my initial matters (inputting my offline book of business), I made a typographical error. I deleted the matter and started over. That set off an entire comedy of errors. As with many case management software programs, Clio uses CLIENT numbers and MATTER numbers. The latter can be revised or overridden once entered by the user, but the former cannot. So, when I deleted the matter to start it over, I was able to revive the matter number, but the system automatically progressed to the next client number. The former client number disappeared into the ether. In the aggregate, this means multiple and inexplicable gaps in client numbers. I spent hours with Support both via chat and telephone, and apparently there is absolutely nothing that can be done--even by the highest powers that be at Clio--to right the client numbers and remove the obnoxious gaps. I proposed resetting the system to give a clean slate. That, too, is apparently beyond the technical capacity of the software developers and engineers at Clio. Thus you are apparently left stuck with your input errors in perpetuity. In short, the above is somewhat anecdotal, but goes to show that rather simple issues that arise (such as fixing a client number) are either too much for Clio to handle, or too piddly for them to care enough about to fix. If the former, that leads me to believe that the initial software design was itself outsourced and now static (cannot be easily changed in-house). If the latter, that leads me to conclude that Clio believes it is too big to fail that it can blow off its customers.

Pros

Clio is always innovating, but they do not hesitate to pass along the cost for such innovation to the customer. There is a whole suite of "add-ons" to choose from. But it feels like nickel-and-diming users for features and enhancements. Imagine if Google or Microsoft charged a fee every time there was a software update. That is how it seems to work at Clio. Don't believe the advertised price. If you want a fully-functional practice management platform (i.e., Clio Manage + Clio Grow), the price is going to be closer to $200 per month. That does not include Drafting and Duo (AI).

Cons

The machines are in control at Clio, not the humans. Certain functions, once entered and/or executed by the user, cannot be undone--even by the software developers and engineers. So you have to be triply trepidatious when entering data. If you get something wrong, your whole organizational scheme can fall into chaos. Support is outsourced, largely to India. When you call in, you get that call-center vibe, including and especially the "I'm sorry, sir, but..." mantra (the "I'm sorry routine"). They will not go the extra mile to problem-solve and come up with creative solutions to fix what is a very common issue. Clio is a captive sales scheme. They want you to invest time and money in a closed subscription-model ecosystem that, over time, will get more and more expensive--yet commensurately more difficult to disinvest from given all the time it takes to build your processes and workflows that will not be cross-compatible to other platforms. The lifetime investment in Clio will be huge. The company is based in Canada. They have no offices in the United States.

### "Worlds better than other CRMS and still improving"

November 22, 2024

4.0

Clio is a great information hub, but getting the information sorted and in the right place can be tedious. The busier the firm, the greater the need is to have an outlined guide or manual from day one.

Pros

Clio is a fantastic information-gathering tool and is close to being a one-stop-shop for everything we need pertaining to our clients. the upcoming rollout of a new communications tab should help to sort this information further.

Cons

Client intake is a tedious process. Something as simple as being about to mark clients as spouses/life partners and copying over address and other basic information would go a long way to help speed things up. as of now, we make three contacts for every matter (the married couple as well as each spouse).

October 24, 2024

I almost switched services this year but Clio's offerings have simply exploded into a massively functional and efficient management software

Pros

I love the expansive growth coming down the pipeline. I started with simple document automations with Manage and Clio continues to acquire new features to aid in running my firm and continues to refine those features. Along with the 200+ integrations, Clio dominates the market for a reason

Cons

### "Smooth Navigation and Smart Features — Just Needs Tweaks"

August 1, 2025

5.0

Pros

Clio's document management is reliable and easy to use, making it simple to keep case files organized and accessible. Data migration, especially with Clio Grow, is smooth and well-supported, allowing for an easy transition from other systems. The overall navigation is intuitive, helping users move through tasks quickly without a steep learning curve. These strengths make Clio a solid choice for firms looking to improve efficiency without sacrificing usability.

Cons

There’s room for improvement in the Matter Stages feature. While it’s useful for visualizing workflow, it doesn’t remember previously used stage setups, which can slow things down when opening new matters. Additionally, the display of client names is sometimes incomplete, showing only partial names in some views—this can be frustrating when trying to differentiate between clients quickly. These are relatively minor issues but noticeable in regular use.
