Neon has continued to grow and make enhancements based on user input. I appreciate that we can save money by utilizing one software to handle our donor needs rather than using multiple platforms.

Pros

I enjoy that Neon is moving towards being an all in one software solution for our constituent needs. I appreciate the workflows that enable my team to concentrate on other tasks and ensures a great donor experience.

Cons

The reporting while expansive, is cumbersome. I would rather just be able to grab any and all information that I wish when creating a custom report rather than having to find one that has the information I want and customizing it. I would like to have a sign-in kiosk future for volunteers and for it to print name tags for them that includes their names and role. I would also like to be able to create a recurring volunteer opportunity rather than having to create a new one each time.

### "Strong Constituent/Donor Management and Fundraising Tools, but Missing a Mobile App"

We use to manage donor relationships, track engagement, and support our fundraising campaigns. Once the system is set up, the automation and reporting features make it a powerful tool for nonprofit operations. The platform also includes strong security and permission settings through different user accounts, which helps protect sensitive donor information. That said, the initial setup required a significant investment of time for our organization. While the system provides many helpful features and solid value for money, the lack of a mobile app and challenges with duplicate management remain notable drawbacks. Overall, I would rate my experience with Neon CRM around a 7 out of 10.

Pros

has strong tools for donor management and organizing supporter information. The fundraising campaign features are particularly helpful because you can build larger campaigns and structure them with smaller subcampaigns underneath them. This makes it easier to set fundraising goals and track progress over time. The workflow automation is another highlight. It allows me to set notifications, such as reminders when installments might be expected, and to automatically place contacts into groups based on actions like attending events. This helps keep engagement organized without constant manual tracking. I also appreciate that the platform includes email campaign tools and customizable user accounts, which allow different team members to access and manage data appropriately. Overall, the platform provides good value for money considering the range of features available for nonprofits. It also has great security of data and customer support is timely.

Cons

The duplicate management tools could definitely be improved. In practice, the system sometimes flags contacts as duplicates simply because they share an address, such as people who work at the same organization. At the same time, it occasionally misses actual duplicates. It can also be frustrating that certain imports cannot be deleted once they are uploaded. Another major limitation is the lack of a reliable mobile app, which makes it difficult to manage donor information or check updates when away from a computer. Improvements in customer support documentation or troubleshooting around duplicate management would also be helpful.

I appreciate the robustness of the reporting available to us. I also appreciate the ease with which we are able to create and track memberships.

Cons

The event module is better suited for organizations who host a few smaller events but is inferior to other event platforms for larger, more frequent events.

### "Works well enough "

I've used a few different CRMs while working in nonprofits and I'd say Neon is in the middle of the pack. It can be clunky and cumbersome to work with - not the most intuitive but once you become familiar with the platform it does what we need it to as a small non-profit. Would prefer the donor profile pages and reports to be cleaner and more directly linked for easier use but I can flip back and forth or open teh database in multiple windows to be able to coordinate info so can easily work around the limitations with a couple of extra steps.

Pros

Fairly user friendly - good built in onboarding materials. One place to keep all information and event registrations. Pre-existing reports are nice, though I would like to be able to create more custom reports for our orgs specific needs.

Cons

Feels clunky compared to other CRMs I have used. Quite basic, does not allow for as much customization of reports and fields as I would like. Also would like more ability to work directly in the CRM with my fellow development and communications colleagues. Overall, our experience with the NeonOne CRM has been extremely positive. Since implementing the system, our fundraising efforts have become more successful, with clearer tracking, better donor insights, and more efficient campaign management. The tools available within NeonOne have helped us be more strategic and confident in how we approach fundraising. Email campaigns are also significantly easier to manage and more effective. We are able to reach more of our members and constituents, communicate more consistently, and tailor messages in ways that feel intentional rather than overwhelming. Combined with improved donor and membership management, NeonOne has strengthened our ability to engage our community and support our mission.

Pros

NeonOne has been a major improvement for us at the Napa County Historical Society. Its pricing is fair and scalable to our yearly profit, making it well suited for small nonprofits like us. NeonOne makes donor and membership management straightforward and efficient, both within the CRM and through its integration with the website, they work well together so we can better plan events and guide our growing membership. This has streamlined our workflows and with a very small staff, has saved us a lot of time to focus on our mission. Customer service has been consistently strong. The support team was fantastic during setup, and the ongoing trainings and resources have been very helpful for our staff. Overall, our entire team enjoys using NeonOne, and it has been a significant step forward in improving our operations and capacity as a nonprofit.

Cons

One area for improvement is the website functionality. We would love to see more flexibility with spacing and image placement, as well as stronger integration between the website and membership and donation forms. Enhancing these features would make it easier to create more customized pages and provide a smoother experience for both staff and supporters.

Overall, our experience with has been great. We are happy with the platform and the capabilities that it provides.

Pros

is very user-friendly. It has an intuitive interface that makes it easy for staff members to navigate without needing extensive training. This helps prevent data entry errors. I also like how Neon provides monthly webinars on product releases and updates to their platform. These webinars help us stay informed about new features, improvements, and best practices. It also shows that Neon is continuously improving its service and offerings. And finally, I like how Neon allows you to record not only donations, but store orders and grants. It makes managing these areas much more efficient and centralized.

Cons

I don't love Neon's donation forms because I wish they were more customizable. I also wish there were more customization options available for emails sent directly from the platform. While there are customization options available, I feel like both areas would benefit from more options.

Our experience has been overall positive. It was very essential for my organization to hire a consultant to help us transition over to Neon since we have no internal IT capacity and it's hard to absorb the work of a member database transition while also still doing the regular work that is required. We worked with a Neon partner, Back Office Thinking, and they have been terrific.

Pros

I like 's user interface. It is clean and intuitive for routine transactions. The monthly cost for my nonprofit organization is affordable and I love that it has integrated event management and email capability. We use it primarily for our membership database. We don't currently do a lot of fundraising campaigns, but I like that we have that capacity should we choose to use it.

Cons

There are a few things that I find inexplicable, such as the individuals within an organization, called a company in Neon, being in alphabetical order by first name (with no option for me to decide how I want them displayed). In that same area, the company contacts default view is all, rather than current. I would love to set the default to current and still be able to see former contacts at my option. Similarly, I would like to choose how many display as a default setting. These things seem small but cumulatively cost me time. On a separate note, I wish the credit card processing fees were lower.

Overall our experience with NeonCRM has been very positive. We have been using NeonCRM for almost 13 years and it has changed a lot over that time period. Neon is constantly updating the features, look and feel of the software to improve the user experience. They are very supportive and open to feedback from the Neon community.

Pros

NeonCRM offers the core functions we need to manage our non-profit. In particular managing donors, events/classes plus reporting. The built in security provides us the confidence that payment processing is secure. Neon's customer support is top notch. It's easy to launch a new fundraising campaign and track the results. The overall user interface is easy to use and very intuitive. We also use NeonPay which provides a seamless link for payment processing. The QBO sync works very well and provided you set up your mapping to match your books it makes updating your accounting records very easy. Although we don't use all the functions of NeonCRM is is good value for the money. On top of that NeonOne provides many webinars and online guides to help you manage the database and get the most of the various features it offers.

Cons

Not being able to exclude payment processing fees from donor reports and statistics. These fees impact the results and distort the statistics. We are hopeful that the new events module will be as good as the legacy events and that it will be easier to distinguish between performance events and classes.

After careful research we determined that Neon was a good fit for our organization and provided the may features required to manage our nonprofit. The fact that it provided donor, event and membership features was very important. We also liked the integration with software we already used like QBO, Excel and Word. Eventually we added NeonPay.

we have been using since mid 2019 and it has come a long way. They are constantly adding features and listening to the needs of the clients. Most of what i know about Neon CRM is self taught in just clicking buttons and figuring it out and by watching the Neon Academy help demos. Overall, i only have good things to say

it is fairly easy to use and has most of the features we need. we have been working with a consultant who has helped us make better use of the product

some of the reporting is hard to get to pull what you are really after, though it has gotten way better

It's been a reliable program to keep our donor database updated through the years. We went from keeping track of our donors in an Excel sheet to using , and it has helped us keep better track of our growing donor community.

Pros

The customer support team that onboarded us was truly amazing to work with. The database and reporting system is very easy to use.

Cons

Sometimes when I am setting up a new report, I can't get all the available columns that I might need in a report, but then I am able to find a workaround. is a robust system to work with, overall.

### "Easy to use. Poor customer service"

Neon is a good program if you are skilled at figuring things out on your own. It's a pretty easy system to learn, but if you have trouble, you will need to wait for help. And, be very careful and watch their billing. They do not include annual contract terms, nor do they remind you when renewals are upcoming. Once they have you on the hook, they refuse to make any concessions. Buyer beware!

Pros

Neon is easy to use and provides much-needed tools, like web integration, event management, and email tracking.

Cons

Customer service is lacking and has been since we onboarded years ago. Though we pay for chat support, it's rarely available. Instead, we've had to send emails and wait days for a response. Additionally, we recently migrated away from Neon at the request of a consultant who was taking over our reporting. Though I informed our Neon account rep of this upcoming change, she failed to inform me that our contract had an upcoming annual renewal. Despite multiple requests to waive or shorten a year of service we will not be using, Neon has us on the hook and refuses to make any concessions.

The training prior to import was extremely helpful, the import was easy, the reporting is so much easier than what we had before (from 1996).

Pros

Ease of use for several employees with completely different roles (finance vs marketing), better mass email platform that what we used prior, upload was easy, customer service was helpful, frequent updates and new features.

Cons

There are occasionally report filters that are unavailable for specific reports, though the overall reporting options are fantastic.

Extremely positive. The CRM academy is excellent, so is the capability of the system. We were able to accomplish all of our goals and then some when we invested in this system. We could not be happier.

Pros

has a robust capability, which streamlined our membership management and fundraising. The Neon One academy teaches you everything you need to know and was excellent getting us set up and ready to go.

Cons

The Neon One CRM has a learning curve and is best suited for users with some familiarity with CRM. I had to spend a lot of time initially in the Neon One Academy.

### "Neon Is Like No Other CRM "

So far I have to say our experience has been really good. We get good support, they listen to what you need and make modifications, and they offer good training.

Pros

has it all. You can easily collect and query data across so many channels - events, donations, volunteers, newsletters, text, and more!

Cons

The payment/where the $$ came from reporting is not as customizable as you might like, but they do offer a lot of canned reports.

### "More than I expected and hoped for"

It was definitely a learning curve and took a while to get up to speed, but now that we've had it for a couple of years, it's great! The best part is that Neon rolls out changes/updates/upgrades every single month. Honestly, converting from a much more expensive and complicated CRM, I didn't expect or hope for much but I have come to really like it.

Pros

I love the endless options for system letters and emails that allows us to customize receipts, thank you letters, pledge reminders etc.

Cons

I wish any and every field was reportable. I find I can't always get exactly the report I'd like to see.

### "The worst software company I've encountered in 25 years"

I never had one positive experience with the company in 14 months.

Pros

That I was able to export some of my data when we walked away.

Cons

(1) The company is dishonest in what it presents. Customer support was taking 5-7 days when we started, they got it down to 2 days but all the answers were ambigious. They sold us 3 slots of custom support and then said it would be 3-4 months before they had availability. (2) They lock you in to an annual contract (3) They log you out out every 2 hours and last month announced you would have to go through 2 factor authentication to get back in, (4) The features do not work well and they are not integrated: They have email marketing, but no way to see on a constituent profile page what subscriptions they chose; they have a store but no way to see who bought a particular product, (4) we paid them to import data, but they would not import years of one-to-one emails we had gathered and provided to their import team. Years of customer interaction by email was lost ... I could go on and on. We pulled the plug after 14 terrible months.

Most have been good especially with the website portion. I am new and still learning the capabilities for what CRM can do. I would say this system is pretty good and would recommend it.

Pros

Most aspects of running the non-profit are all right here in . I can track individual memberships, the events, create events and put them on a calendar, create discount codes, email the database, see revenue reports.

Cons

That I can't just call someone to help me with a problem. When you have an "urgent" problem that you need to get solved quickly there is no immediate way to get the solution. I know this system is geared toward self-teaching, but sometimes you need the experts to help you solve a problem and you can still learn by having someone else help you.

I only use Arts People, but I find it easy to use and like to explore and learn more about what it can do for me/our organization.

Pros

The customer service is excellent! When I have a problem or just need to have ticket prices set, they respond promptly. I like that they are always making updates and respond to user requests for new or improved features.

Cons

There are a few features that don't work the way that I want or expect them to work. I do not like the text editor for creating descriptions of shows or for composing emails to patrons,

Overall, I have had a good experience with . It offers useful features for my role, has good customer service, offers helpful resources, and is continuously coming out with improvements for the platform.

Pros

I like the donor management platform component of the software, which allows me to track pledges, donations, and touchpoint communications with donors and partners.

Cons

The reporting feature, while it can produce helpful reports, can be convoluted and challenging to configure to get the data you want at times.

Generally, I like a lot. I appreciate that they have a large team who is constantly working to build the product and sometimes wish they would focus more on UX than creating new features.

Pros

The ease of tracking donor information and FY progress. I appreciate that it, in effect, one large interactive Rolodex.

Cons

I don't always have full confidence that all data is represented in the reports we created. The merge tool seems to miss a number of accounts. It feels that there should be a simpler way for smaller organizations to use it.

I like the security, customer support, and donor management the most! Both are very helpful and allow for easier maintenance for the organization.

Cons

Limited accessibility for our current sponsorship and membership programs. This would allow for a much smoother management for these two programs.

### "Streamlined Operations with Room to Expand"

Over the past three years, we’ve gradually expanded our use of —starting with Membership, then adding Volunteers, Events, and more. We've enjoyed the ability to grow with the platform and streamline parts of our data entry and engagement tracking. While there are still features we haven’t fully utilized, we’re excited to integrate more into our workflow. One improvement we’d love to see is the ability to invoice individuals directly through the system. Overall, Neon has helped us become more organized and efficient as we continue to build on what the platform offers.

Pros

We appreciated having our membership, donor, volunteer, and event registration data all in one centralized platform. It streamlined our communication and recordkeeping, made it easier to track engagement across areas, and reduced the need for multiple disconnected systems.

Cons

We love the look and functionality of the new Event format, especially the QR code check-in, but wish it supported multi-day events with customizable time slots. While legacy events offer this flexibility, we prefer the newer format’s interface and features.

It's a little frustrating but David is always as helpful as possible! I use Arts people every single day for something-- from Donor tracking, to running reports, to selling tickets.

Pros

The excellent customer service member David! He is knowledgable and enthusiastic. I always email him when I have an issue.

Cons

The ticket sales aspect is difficult to set up. We always have issues when we are trying to set up our new season.

There was an easy way to do peer to peer fundraising and messaging. Additionally it was a relatively inexpensive way to host a CRM.

Cons

It was very clunky in its set up and usage. It was difficult to pull reports and utilize those for fundraising means.
