Can create automated batches which is very useful. Cons Sometimes there are stale prices on shareclasses when it has not priced, not giving an accurate representation. A few years ago, we had a dedicated Mornigstar representative. We no longer have or are aware of such a person. Pros I like the accessibility of the data and quick summary/Snapshot Reports for investments and analyzed portfolios. Cons I am always disappointed when I can't generate Snapshot Reports. Never had a bad experience with Morningstar. They are always willing to help. Pros Morningstar Direct is the best source for registered fund data. They also evolve to provide the most topical data points available. (e.g. easily finding mutual funds that have converted to ETFs, etc.) Cons There is so much data and sometimes we have to check SEC filings, especially for fee information to ensure it is 100% accurate. The access to personnel from Morningstar, including support, has been good during this period. Some more new developments could have been expected, however, sustainability data has come on strong. Pros What I like most about Morningstar Direct is the large access to mutual funds and underlying data points. I have had only very minor issues at this time that have been resolved. Pros More comprehensive than Morningstar workstation. The data is crucial to our ongoing due diligence in model building and fund selection. Cons I didn't find the learning curve to be overwhelming at all. The interface is very similar to workstation. The only con might be some of the delays in getting month end data. There are times where I'm pulling all of the data for funds and some data doesn't pull because it's not updated yet.
