I’ve eliminated the biggest time suck—responding to guests—without sacrificing quality. As long as your manual and supporting documents are detailed, it handles communication beautifully. The upsells feel much more natural than with any other tool I’ve tried. Cons The interface feels outdated—like something out of a 1970s Tron movie. A more modern design would make it even better (dark mode is fine). One issue I had was actually my user error: I didn’t realize there was a setting to block discount requests, so a guest received an unauthorized discount. Lesson learned—turn on that setting! It’s great value for the price and replaces several tools I used to pay for separately. The customer support is quick and genuinely helpful, and the platform is easy to navigate. Their AI response feature is especially helpful during late nights or when I’m busy with work and traveling — I can leave a quick reply, and the AI fine-tunes it to fit each guest perfectly. I also like that if a message is negative, the AI detects it and notifies me instead of replying automatically. That way, I can respond in my own words and avoid giving incorrect details. It’s saved me a lot of time and made managing my listings so much easier. Highly recommend! Cons The only thing I’d like to see improved is the AI sometimes needs a bit of extra context for very unusual guest requests. Only Hostbuddy excelled in all categories: ease of configuration, flexibility in how it responds to guests, and an elegant way of ingesting knowledge. Additionally, the replies sound like they come from a top-notch assistant. Cons The main con is their knowledge base could use more examples and best practices. Cons It's mostly excellent, but occasionally (rarely, fortunately) it will go off script and make up information when there's a void in the information I've provided. I used to spend my days tethered to my phone, constantly answering queries from guests and potential guests. Now, HostBuddy AI does it all and does it brilliantly. It’s read my house manuals, my saved messages, and my website, and somehow manages to sound and respond even better than I could myself. Since using it, my communication has been specifically praised in guest reviews, which has been an unexpected and delightful bonus. HostBuddy AI has saved me time, energy, and my sanity. I started using this service a couple months ago in my Short Term Rental business and WOW I love it. It has taken the edge off of what I do being a 24/7 host with my 4 properties. The folks on the team are super helpful with getting setup and making tweaks. I did NOT want to give up messaging cause it's my favorite part, but I still feel involved and now can goto a movie or sit on an airplane without anxious feelings. WIN. Pros It paid for itself within 3 weeks for the entire year for my 4 properties!! The upsells I couldn't get my PMS to do for gap nights are super easy to automate with HostBuddy AI. One gap night sale on our big rental, paid for all of my service. SOO GOOOD Cons Sometimes the AI says something that I don't want it to, but I just note it and change in the system, so no biggie. I only have two properties of managing. I can’t imagine how beneficial this would be using it on scale.. Pros The quality of responses to potential or actual guests. It also doesn’t answer immediately which would make it seem automated but it answers guests within a few minutes which is perfect. Cons I haven’t found any really big negatives. The only thing I think that could be improved at this time would be sometimes it says to the guest “ we have notified our team“. That’s typically when there is something more important. I wish that they could send a text message when something like that happens. Otherwise I need to monitor every response looking to see if the guest needs something else. I really spent a good bit of time building out the Standard Operating procedures and it works beautifully. I feel like is better than any VA I could have hired. It can answer questions problem solve and forward issues it cannot handle to team members. We look forward to a long relationship with Hostbuddy. It has drastically cut down on the time we would normally spend responding to guests amongst our 10 properties. We cannot wait for HostBuddy to add email messaging to the unified inbox. As of now we have it handling 24/7 messaging on Ownerrez which covers SMS texts and messaging on Airbnb, VRBO, and Booking.com. We integrated Slack to have our team get updates when HostBuddy may not be able to provide the correct answer, if the team needs to alter a reservation, etc. Overall, it may not be perfect, but grant it, neither are us humans. We were worried that it may drastically provide the wrong response or state something entirely not factual, but as long as you input your SOP's and provide answers to the questions for each property when onboarding, then you do not have anything to worry about. If HostBuddy makes an error, more than likely it is because we did not provide the correct information during onboarding. 9.9 times out of 10, HostBuddy provides the correct response (with a great hospitable tone which is an added bonus) or he states that he will simply check with the team first, which then our team will get a notification. 10/10 recommend. Cons Cannot wait for email integration. Overall layout of website is so so but I know that they are working on that. That does not matter to me when the product they have is 10/10. The answers that Host buddy gives are even better than the answer I can sometimes! And, the best part? I do nothing & this app takes care of my guests for me! Pros I LOVE everything about this app. I feel like I have a clone of myself to answer mundane and repetitive questions and it has saved me a tremendous amount of time! The quality of the answers are blowing me away. I am beyond impressed with this application Cons I’m not sure if this can be fixed as this is a computer! However, it would be nice if it could not take everything so literally with the guest asking to extend dates. Sometimes when guests are asking to check out on a certain date, host buddy thinks that they are asking to stay that night instead of checking out on that date. Pros The price and the calendar feature I found it very useful to set up my weekly schedule. Cons There are a ton of customizable settings and I found it a little overwhelming at first. Hostbuddy solved my problem of having to reiterate the same proprietary information to every airbnb guest, allowing for my workload to focus more on the growth of the company. Cons The only thing I could think of is that Hostbuddy operates best when STR management companies have Property Management Software. If they don't, it's harder to integrate this software. Can import properties from your PMS and integrating it is an absolute breeze. Its responses are very human like and is a great tool to have especially when you are not available to answer messages. Cons The calendar feature is slightly confusing but pretty simple once you get it worked out.
