I am president of Tomorrow's Stars charity www.tstars.org and friend of \[sensitive content hidden\]. I have 4 students in Ghana using the program as a donation, thank you very much. I help them with six sigma theory, project selection, then selecting tools and querying/interpreting the data. Worked very well for me as a coach for them. I didn't use the Engine Room support but my students did. Pros It is extraordinarily powerful with simple and complex statistical tools. Even beyond the tools introduced in Moresteam. The analysis is presented with the statistics so that you knowledge level is challenged. Very impressed as a retired six sigma black belt and consultant. Cons My age, experience and purpose!! Pros Engineroom is extremely user friendly and is very straightforward for our project owners to use. The support team is very helpful as well. Cons There is not much to list as far as cons for Engineroom. It is very well integrated with Traction. It is not user customizable which might be an issue for some. Whenever, I was hung up on something, MoreSteam helped me right away by scheduling a meeting with me and talking me through it. I love how Process Playground is tied into EngineRoom. It allows me to jump from data analysis to event simulations seamlessly. Cons Although the process of doing the analysis is relatively straight forward and easy. There is a learning curve with what the tool is needing to do the analysis. I have had experience with SigmaXL and Minitab so retraining my brain to fit EngineRoom was an initial challenge. However, it is easy to overcome and now it is easy to do everything I need. Pros The statistical side of EngineRoom is very solid, but I am impressed with the visual experience. This includes ease of use with click and drag data entry and attractive easy to see output. And it includes simulation, not just Monte Carlo but discrete events. It fully integrates with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies with insights from AI. Cons At present the number of independent variables in multiple linear regression is limited to 10, but this is enough for most applications. And I hope EngineRoom will continue to build on its Machine Learning capabilities. This kind of predictive analysis is becoming more and more important in Six Sigma methodology. It has extensive capabilities, typically more than I need for the type of analysis I'm doing but I love knowing I have all the different options. It's much more powerful than typical stat package add-ons to programs like Excel. Cons It can be difficult to learn initially as certain things aren't the most intuitive. However, once you learn to navigate EngineRoom I find it quite user-friendly. The exercises could be done directly on dashboard data that provide the context or offline exporting data to Excel. The latter file management based approach let you figure out a great value for money invested, by purchasing a product ready to provide great customer support. Several Data Dashboards are customizable to create the proper work environment. Pros EngineRoom has softened the learning curve of a lean methodology training organized by my company. This thanks to a great user experience and consistent samples on data analysis. Cons In one occasion I had to retake the exercise from the beginning due to an unexpected crash. Maybe this can be covered by some session saving on the cloud. Instead of using a software package for statistical analysis, one for process mapping, one for graphical analysis, one for building simulation models, and various other spreadsheets and templates in Word, Excel, etc. - EngineRoom has it in one package. The user interface is very simple to learn and teach, with a plethora of help files and video walkthroughs. Customer support is fast, friendly and extremely competent - not just on software, but process improvement as well - so when you need help, you are working with people who speak Lean Six Sigma language and understand where you are coming from. I could go on and on about the value of this product, but for the low price - it is worth purchasing just to try it - my bet is that you'll never switch to something else. Cons The data sheets do not have the formula functionality of Microsoft Excel, so some data formatting and scrubbing is easier outside of EngineRoom, prior to uploading. Considering everything that EngineRoom does so well, I am ok with this limited functionality. That being said, it seems there are enhancements being rolled out nearly every time I log so I know they are constantly enhancing the software.
