When I have to use someone else's laptop, models take twice as long to build and three times as long to format for presentation. Cons The only small quibble I have is that my some of the formatting tools only apply formatting to the active sheet. For example, if I'm updating borders on dozens of identical sheets, I have to remember to apply them the old Ctrl-1-and-mouse way. Alternatives considered [think-cell](https://www.capterra.com/p/180388/think-cell/) Reason for choosing Macabacus I use both Macabacus and think-cell -- the former for Excel and the latter for specific PowerPoint charts that, to my knowledge, aren't available with any other tool. XLS shortcuts are good but limited and not many new ones added in the past 3 years. Cons I don't like the few options it has on the formula creation for XLS. There is still no formula to increase column width (without having to include an exact parameter) and the support team is not helpful to drive those changes fastly. Pros Features are easy to memorize and incredibly useful, especially in terms of saving time. Cons You do run into a lot of bugs here or there. I use it every day and regularly recommend it to both my finance and non-finance colleagues. I argue it has the highest ROI of any software we have at my company. Pros Macabacus saves me lots of time formatting, model auditing, and general navigating in Excel. Its model checking feature is also a game changer and gives greater conficence in one's created models (if you have the time to run it). Cons I think the biggest con with Macabacus is the speed at which it runs for larger models. Some of the more complex models our company has take >5 min to render things like visualizations. Auditing formulas can run a bit slow at times too for larger models. To that note, the model checking feature is really best for simple, smaller models I've found. More complex models can take hours for the checking tool to run which is fine if you have the time to run overnight, but more often than not there's a time crunch with little to no time to run the model checking feature. Pros The key bindings make my workflow so much faster when modelling, and having the ability to link data into presentations and word docs has already made me thousands of dollars for minutes of work, add in the financials and click refresh, and investor updates are done! From slide decks to excel formatting, saves hours... Cons Can't undo with the hot keys or shortcuts, I've done some accidental deletions that have caused some serious rework.
