Business Refinement & Services Manager Veterinary Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Operator to management ease of use " July 27, 2020 4.0 Reporting to a university board and corporate management, the reporting features are ticking most of the boxes required. Rx works is by far my favorite PMS and the support available is second to none. Pros I like the ease of use form a working level. Working as a nurse for years showed me the features that were available - features that i used differed depending on the role in which i was employed at the time. Now as an manager and administrator, i see the background of how each feature can be better utilized. I feel that bringing my nursing experience into the set up of the many features is a huge benefit. Cons Features around the referral clinics setting could do with some improvement as well as reporting and advanced analysis tools. Client Care Representative Veterinary Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Clunky and outdated" January 26, 2026 3.0 RxWorks is one of my least favourite veterinary software interfaces. I think it probably does have good potential from an IT and statistics management side of things however, to the individual user, it is incredibly challenging to navigate and train new staff on. There is a lot of double handling that I feel could be automated; whether that's the edition we have still been using, I'm not sure. But I find that RxWorks has so much room for human error, as creating follow ups such as scheduling sympathy cards and chasing laboratory tests etc all have to be manually input. Whilst results aren't integrated easily either. Now perhaps these things can be automated and we aren't aware of it; however tech support from RxWorks is almost unheard of. I will say my position within the team unfortunately does not allow me to make changes to IT interfaces or contact with the RxWorks team directly for me to be able to be able to be involved in change or feedback. However the clinic I have worked at for the last 9 years using RxWorks, during that time RxWorks have made no notable upgrades or changes. Pros The positives for RxWorks include the clipboard function. Being able to create your own clipboards means it's easy to view different patient files and move things for ease of followup. I think potentially there is an ability for customisation, if you have the IT support to do so, however this is not user friendly. Cons The communication tab however is trying abysmal. When I am making phone calls and want to make notes of what occured without putting it directly in the patient's medical history (as it may not be relevant), it feels like the current communication tab is not enough. For context I have been a user of the RxWorks program within a veterinary clinic; predominantly as a client care member, so my preference for ease of communication is going to be quite high. So much potential for user error due to lack of automation. IT support is unheard of. Clunky interface with outdated systems for integration. Review Source NC Narissa C. From the beginning, the support and implementation team have been an absolute dream to work with, and if I've ever had issues or questions, they've put up with me in ways I can only thank them for. Pros This product has been around for so long that it integrates with almost all major functionalities - TYRO, Idexx, Smart Flow. Customer support is 24/7 and they can jump on and see exactly what you're seeing - you can't go past that! Cons The UI is dated. It is busy which can make it difficult to train new staff members. The client/patient handouts can be found in numerous locations, and can become difficult to locate after a while. " June 4, 2024 5.0 I have used other programs and in comparison, it is so much easily to navigate and use. Training new staff have been easy and they pick it up quickly so my overall experience has been excellent. Pros It's easy to understand and quick to pick up. I find training staff how to use it they find it simplified and not confusing like other software. Great that over the year we as a company have been able to adapt it to work with our business model. Good online manual as well that can be easily referred to. Cons UI is a bit dated and clunky. Program works like it's been patched by different programmers/software engineers at different stages. There are multiple ways to access certain functions and it can make navigation a bit difficult. But that could also be the lack of training I've had with it. Pros I love the fact that I can view all of our Company's clinics on the one platform, without having to "sign in' to the different clinics. I can easily switch from one to another. I haven't had a great deal of training with RX, but I am able to find most things unaided, which is good. Cons If I'm looking at a clients' records, I need to be mindful of the clinic that I have selected. it's far to easy to allocate a payment to the wrong clinic. Review Source AR Annie R. Hospital Director Higher Education Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Rx works in a first opinion teaching hospital" October 11, 2016 4.0 Rx works is a functional system for first opinion practice and the integration with social media for event management is really useful. The ability to use the system for client communications/ text messaging, appointment, surgery and vaccination reminders has really helped to drive return business. The reporting functionality is excellent > if its in the system, you can report on it. This is particularly useful for business decisions, forecasting and development. I would like to see further development of clipboards and the creation of a procedures whiteboard within the system, online booking capabilities and less mouse clicking to close a visit. However, most of the areas in need of development can be resolved with compatible integration with external programmes- it would be nice to have these options within the one system. The tech support on a day to day basis is fantastic and the support from Beverley and Mark on developing projects such as performance pack is excellent. January 3, 2017 5.0 We have used Rx Works since 2004 and during that time have merged two other practices into the main Rx system who were using other systems. Rx works have grown with us....! From a manager's perspective, I have not found anything that is as comprehensive and easy to use when getting relevant information out of the system. The support has always been far superior than any other experiences I have had through other companies - 24 hours a day - and this has also improved. Its something that Rx works take very seriously! Although the company has grown we still get a very personal service. If one of my clinical team was writing this they would say that there are "too many clicks" when entering work etc.. so the front end could be simplified maybe - but as I tell them you will only get out of it what you put in :) Pros Support, development and updates. Can easily run reports, queries and mail lists. Invoicing and account work is simple to do. Attaching additional info to case histories is easy and generating documents is all pre-set including external lab forms. The insurance claims manager is fantastic and saves a lot of admin time. Pros Having been a long term user of RxWorks, I like the flow/sequence of the windows/tabs. I like how the appointments schedule is very customizable. I like how there is a often a few different ways to do the same thing. Which is nice as it means each employee can use it how they feel works best for them. Cons Some times I find there is a lot of clicking to move to the next step ie saving visits and moving to payments. Also when looking to amend/change a setting it can be difficult to find how to do it. I get the feeling there is a reluctance to integrate perhaps? Pros There is a lot of functionality, much of which might not get used. Cons Integration with other apps is lagging behind other providers. Reporting is clunky and difficult. Modules are available to do certain processes but they are long winded and hard to set up and in some cases difficult to use on a daily basis. There are also too many areas where you have to put in settings for just one process.
