My overall experience with has been positive. While there is a learning curve, the system is secure, customizable, and effective for library management, book cataloging, and tracking both circulating and non-circulating materials.

Pros

I like the bright colors on the catalog. I also like that you can catalog books by just typing in the title and author.

Cons

The follow-up by the Help Desk is pretty much non-existent. The chat feature does not work so if you put in a ticket, you have to log in again to see if your question has been answered. I was hoping it would send me an email. It is also very slow when checking in books.

has exceeded our expectations and needs. However, it's also simple to use and small enough to manage, and the customer service is immediate and personal. Very happy with our decision to go with Surpass!

Pros

Customer service is excellent. They respond within minutes to my questions, and are extremely helpful and patient. The OPAC looks amazing and is easy to use. It's also quick and simple to catalogue new entries. Perfect fit for our small library!

Cons

Sometimes having to type the exact title to find the book in the Resource list.

I’ve had a very positive experience working with as an administrator. The process of inputting new resources is straightforward and efficient, with clear fields and options that make organizing materials simple. I especially appreciate the flexibility in customizing records, which allows me to highlight important details and ensure users can easily locate what they need. Navigating around the site is smooth and intuitive—the menus are well-structured, and search features are responsive and accurate.

Cons

There is nothing so far that I have not liked about . It has been a learning curve to navigate around the site, so expect to need some time initially.

The customer service is excellent. The software and online catalog is simple to use. The online catalog projects a professional image and gives patrons a highly functional way to search, select, and place holds on materials.

Pros

is easy to use, flexible, and always improving. We have recommended this software to other non-profit lending libraries that have reached out to us to find out how we developed such an amazing catalog. We have to confess that we have very little to do with it...it is Surpass!

Cons

Sometimes requested changes are not accommodated because we are a minority in the way we use (toy library for a non-profit rather than a traditional library). It can be difficult to navigate between functions (go from transactions to resource/patron, etc.), although this is improving.

Pros

My favorite thing about is actually the Customer Service. They have been quick, kind, empathetic and very positive every time I have reached out. This is very, very much appreciated.

There are a few things I would like to tailor to our specific office that I've been told are not possible, like removing due dates from the receipts.

We've tried hard to balance user-friendliness with customizability -- and we base most of our changes off of feedback from current clients. If we gather that more libraries would like to have the option to remove due dates from receipts, we'll certainly look at making that an option. In the meantime, I would recommend submitting a Wish List ticket so that if that option is ever added, you'll be the first to know!

has been easy to use, has great customer service, and offers a great value that fits within my organization's budget.

Pros

We have a relatively basic version of , and it's an absolutely great value for our needs. The customer service is excellent and is the primary reason I would recommend this software to others; I always know that help is just an email or a phone call away.

Cons

The only thing that comes to mind is that the user interface in the basic version we use is visually a bit dated, but this has no impact on functionality.

I helped catalog an entire library using old barcodes, new barcodes and everything in between. The ease of learning the program was so helpful as I trained others to help.

Pros

is very user friendly and intuitive. Any time I have had a problem they have helped me fix it. They go above and beyond to get it right. Cataloging is easy and labeling is easy.

Cons

I only have one complaint...You can't make 13 digit barcodes...or I can't figure out how...I really don't have any other complaints.

As for the 13-digit barcodes, I suspect that's because 13-digit barcodes are typically a type of barcode called 'codabar' that may be different from the type you're currently using. Pros

As a new librarian of a small school library, I feel that the it was easy to master and to comprehend the basic functions of the program. And most importantly, the service is fabulous. Not only are there instructional videos on Youtube, but I can chat online to get help with a LIVE ASSISTANT without going through a bot first. The assistants, without fail, are patient, knowledgeable, professional and extremely helpful. Love it! I feel taken care of.

Cons

The time it takes to enter new holdings with an ISBN is too long. As for the rest, I can not give any constructive feedback as I am not fully experienced in using your program.

CL is perfect for our small to medium church library. The price is reasonable and customer service is responsive and helpful.

Pros

\-It's very flexible - you can add as little or as much detail as you like. -There are multiple ways to enter bibliographic information. -I'm impressed that we can choose to search multiple library catalogs to do copy cataloging.

Cons

\-Label printing is imperfect. -Using the Add New by ISBN feature can be a bit slow.

### "Surpass Software used by a Non-profit national center for fiber art"

benefits are their excellent service Surpass they offer. No matter what question I have, they answer quickly, or see if something in the cloud can be changed to help my unique problem. I am a librarian at a non-profit national center for fiber art. We have a shop, classes, auditorium for guild gatherings, media room for producing online classes for our patrons, a library, a gift shop, three galleries for fiber art work, and a permanent Weaver's Guild group that has been in existence for over 75 years. Textile Center library has over 35,000 circulating materials. We have received \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\]'s Weaving Loom Library Research project. She passed away, but entrusted Textile Center with her 18 giant notebooks and hundreds of bits of information about weaving looms. We are in the process of making this into .pdf files so we can add those to our library for anyone in the world who is interested in finding information about Weaving Looms will have access to that information. I am not with an industry, so I picked Apparel and Fashion, but that is not what we are. Maybe add non-profit as a choice under "industry".

Pros

It is getting easier to use, but I can always call or chat and get great help when I don't understand something. I really love the service. That is vital to an organization. When I don't understand, or wonder about how something works, I know I can chat with a real person at . They will always be helpful, professional, kind, and funny. Julie and I have quilting in common. Hope her quilt retreat was fun.

Cons

I often need to print items, but there is "no printer" access, so I have to copy and paste to word to print what I need.

Many were for larger libraries, or too expensive, or non-responsive when I inquired.

Overall, I am very happy with . It's flexible and allows our school to enter the data into the system the way that works best for us.

Pros

The system is super easy to work with and learn. I'm not savvy with computers but the Surpass system is easy to navigate. Whenever I do need a helping hand, the support team is available to help. No waiting around for a call back or being put on hold. And the support team is super kind and easy to talk to. They understand what I am trying to ask, sometimes even when I don't. If there is a feature that would be nice to have, they are always making changes to fit the needs of the users. They truly do listen.

Cons

The hardest part to for me, is updating all the new students at the beginning of the school year. I wish it were easier. But the support team is always there to help me figure out any mistakes I've made and get it my information merged into the system.

Pros

I enjoy because it is user friendly. The product seems to be well thought out, and is simple to use. Because of this, my first year being a librarian was an easy transition. My absolute favorite part is customer service. They are always friendly, helpful and available.

Cons

I wish that my small school could afford the cloud option with the newest features. Run a special so we can get on board with the times!

### "Changing over to the Cloud"

Works well for our Community Library. Easy to train new volunteers on its use.

Pros

The changeover was very quick and easy. Help screens are available for the pages that at first were a little different than Windows . But in a few moments, you can see the correct procedure for your transaction.

Cons

There are no cons yet. The changeover does need a little time to see the difference but then it is easy. We at the library have no real issues.

Freeing up staff time for professional work, rather than being stuck doing repetive, clerical work. The speed with which the annual stock take happens now that we have a mobile barcode reader, and the resultant report from are just two of an endless list of benefits.

Pros

The logical grouping of features, the awesome customisation allowed in writing your own reports. The adherence to international standards (MARC, etc) made it super ease to integrate with my country's Bibliographic authority. The reassurance that when you power it up, it does not only appear on your screen, but it is working!!

Cons

The manipulation of fonts in reports is somewhat limiting when designing complex, comprehensive reports.

Having this online catalog available has been great! The software works great and is excellent at customer service! Everytime I have an issue, they are helpful and responsive and resolve it. Our patrons love it and find it very user friendly! We're so happy with the decision to go with the Cloud version of Surpass software for our church library!

Because it's new, there have been a few bugs, but each time they are resolved quickly!

### "Great Small Church Library Software"

Being a former public librarian gave me a good reference point for choosing a software package for our church library. After several months of research, I chose the CL because of all of its features. The member functions - check-out, search, and reserve - are easy for the members to use, which was necessary as this is currently mostly a self-serve library. There is always a learning curve when learning a new database, but the database for maintaining the collection was not difficult to learn. It can be customized in many ways & do what you want. It is geared for growth. The IT help is amazing and patient. When learning any software, there may be questions or the occasional glitch. The sales personnel are not pushy. I have had it for two years now & would recommend Surpass to any library.

### "Surpass Software Met Our Needs Cost Effectively"

Our experience with Software has been very positive. We have had no problems. The learning curve was not high. Volunteers mastered the software quickly.

Pros

Software was a perfect match for our organization to automate our 5000 book library. Our organization is run by volunteers. The process to enter the collection into Surpass was straightforward and easy to learn. The support staff was excellent and available as we learned the system. We have moved from only in building use of our library to publishing our database on the web, with our members able to search the database from any place on the internet. We highly recommend the Surpass software.

Cons

We have had no problems implementing the software with the help of the support staff. The database being in the cloud made implementation quicker and more reliable.
