Pros Simple interface and great pricing are two of the best features of Basil. The secure client portal allows easy file sharing with clients without a sharp learning curve. Cons Android App still in development otherwise I have not had any issues with Basil so far. The customer support has been very helpful with any issues I have had. Thank you CoralTree for developing another great product to free up time! I no longer need to run to client's offices to retrieve documents. Pros Ease of use for both my staff and my clients. Basil was extremely easy to set up and use. I receive notices when anything is uploaded which helps me stay on top of task that need to be handled. I can upload multiple files at once by dropping and dragging. I love the 2 step authentication to keep my documents secure. The pricing is extremely fair for the space and ease of use. My clients love it as well. Cons There are some large files that I am unable to upload but I really don't have anything else about the program that I am unhappy with. January 10, 2025 3.0 Overall, I'm very happy with the decision to purchase Basil. They have a lot of development yet to be done, but the fact that they are willing to listen and understand the reasons for the functions needed is great. Having worked in this industry for over 20 year and used many project management systems, I am more than willing to share my knowledge and they are willing to listen. Pros I love the response timing. Everyone is always quick to respond even if only to get more information to check with others for the solution. Also, they are very open to suggestions. Cons I struggle with the advertising for this to be perfect for accounting firms, yet I feel like I am teaching things they should already know. There are many things that I would think to be common sense that are not programmed. Like not being able to use apostrophes in the last name field. The report's capability and functions are SERIOUSLY lacking. Cons Basil seems to be a newer platform, and with that I will say there are a few rough edges that could be smoothed out or simple feature implementations that would be a great quality of life improvement for me and my clients such as email integration, easier file management ect. Training was not excessive in time and myself and staff were able to catch on quickly. Cons Getting my clients onboard to use it. For the most part, they are onboard after the 1st month. It took some time though for them to understand the importance of protecting their data through secured uploads and downloads. Pros Basil is not only so easy to use with my clients, I love that I can keep all of my documents, signatures, and invoicing all in one place! Cons There is very similar platforms that offer more: goals and integrations with QBO (to ask client questions and aid in closing). I really wish there was a way for clients to see tasks that have been completed. I feel so sassy telling my client to put your tax forms in Basil and I'll get started right away" September 24, 2024 5.0 The trainer was perfect and it didn't take much time. I started using it and uploading client documents right after the 1st training. I felt like a pro right away. Our clients just started using it and are not having as much difficulty as they did with all the other programs like this. 1. I send one email 2. Our client logs in 3. The client gets an email when I add a document to their folders 4. A new client can have documents saved for them and a new client contract requesting an e-signature when they set up their login. Pros Basil has all the components needed for my accounting/tax firm. Every year I tried a new Client Management Software preparing for tax season. I'd end up frustrated and not using it after a few weeks. My clients said Basil is straightforward to use. The best part is they feel safer with the download security. No emailing, dropbox, or driving to the office. It has saved so much time. The presentation is very professional, making our firm look cutting-edge. Cons The only thing I can think of to call the least liked thing is I get asked "What is Basil?" I got an inquiry from a potential client who had one question - do you have secure file sharing software? I was able to say yes, and from that one customer have already billed more than I paid for Basil. Pros The product is very intuitive, and support is beyond amazing. I was looking for secure file sharing and e-signatures. I don't really use the other features, but the price was worth it just for what I need! I highly recommend Basil as an affordable file sharing option. Cons I don't like the way it won't let you set up multiple customers with the same email address. Cons Most of my initial complaints have been fixed - having clients sign up was clunky the 1st year (they would sign up as a company instead of one of your clients) but that has been fixed. The response has always been very quick, and my questions have been answered clearly. Pros I am an older accountant, not very tech-savvy, nor very interested in becoming tech-savvy. I needed a simple, straightforward method to send and receive sensitive documents to and from my tax clients. Basil was easy to set up and is easy for me to use. The few times I've needed help, support has been quick with the answers. My clients have all reported positive experiences both with Basil and with support. Cons Really, there isn't anything I don't like about Basil. I know I barely scratch the surface of what Basil can be used for, but everything I use works great. Reason for choosing Basil I considered several other products that I can't now remember the names of. The others were far more expensive and didn't offer any more services that I needed. Cons The pricing is pretty high for small businesses & I really hope they don't raise the prices after a couple years or it would be unaffordable. I wish you could have a team member for less cost than a full user. Currently a team member is the same cost as a full admin.
