### "Storage hosting is easy with ShareFile"

June 5, 2021

5.0

Pros

Sharefile is a cloud-hosted file server at its most basic level that replaces the need to host one within a workplace or business. It also allows you to offer download links to consumers to upload or download specific files, provided you have the proper rights. Because it is hosted offshore, it has the advantage of not requiring the office to operate servers or an Infrastructure rack.

Cons

You won't be able to view your file structure if your external internet connection goes down. If you're a remote worker trying to connect to a server hosted by your company, this can happen. Another problem might be a lack of bandwidth while uploading/downloading to Sharefile. It was also quite sluggish and complicated when we initially started using it, requiring multiple periods longer to transfer or explore than a self-hosted server. We also have at least 1-2 service interruptions every month, during which users are unable to conduct their job for a while.

### "Great file sharing tool with strong security and audit options"

September 16, 2025

5.0

If you have ever used dropbox, gdrive or onedrive you will find using sharefile easy to use. Major difference is that this product is built with multiple users and clients in mind from day one, while other mentioned products are meant to be single user products which have option of sharing documents under particular conditions. If we put security and audit ability aside (which are important to my use case), second feature really worth mentioning is practicaly unlimited ability to create clients who can access your shared resources. In my opinion (and research), there is nothing quite like it and ShareFile is great fit for my use case (and priced competitvely too).

Pros

I am a long time user and I choose ShareFile because of security options and level of control I have over my uploads. Particulary, I have log file of who accessed what. I am located in EU and my files containt personal information it was really important to be sure that my data is kept within EU. I also like options to customized my sharefile experience which helps my client orient themselves more easily. At one point we also used ability of sharefile to create custom web forms for uploading, and that was a huge time and resource saver too.

Cons

In almost ten years of using ShareFile I never had a single issue. There were few points in time when I had to warn my users to update their software, but web access was always there.

### "Used to be a great product, it is getting worse with every update"

September 14, 2025

2.0

Used to be very positive, now I have nothing much positive to say about it, other than their customer service. The failed syncs are inexcusable and make the product virtually unusable. We are now looking into alternatives and have not moved to new providers just out of inertia rather than anything else.

Pros

I used to like the fairly seamless integration and unlimited storage when I signed up. It could sync across users and devices very well an sharing with clients was also easy and auditable in terms of access control and visibility. A lot of those pros. are no longer there or have been eroded. Customer support are perhaps the only saving grace, when you eventually get through to them. They have tended to take ownership of issues and followed up appropriately every time. The fact they actually phone you to explain or check exactly what the problem may be is unusual and hugely positive. In that, they seem to care about their customers. In the functionality of the product, much less so.

Cons

It is getting worse with every update. Half the time it does not sync across devices and users and requires saving a document in a different location or with a different name before anyone else can see it. Sometimes it does not even sync on the same device: I go to windows explorer and the version of the file I am working on has disappeared. The fact that, by stealth, they moved from "unlimited storage" as standard to 1TB per user (only unlimited in the sense you can buy extra space) is offputting. That they make out it was always that way is just insulting. At the current offering, we would never have signed up. There are better and more integrated platforms with more attractive pricing options. The repeated change of name is embarassing. Choose one and stick to it! "Offline files" are not really offline. When you first switch on a computer, it needs to have a connection to the internet before you can access offine files, which entirely defeats the point. Plus they are not normal files you can access like any other without the app, as all other cloud storage, unless the app is running, they are not accessible. Indexing within Windows environment, whether online or offline files, is slow, really slow. A search within sharefile, unless you go via the website, takes forever and half the time does not return results that are clearly there. Imposing 2-step authentication has also been a pain. However much I disable it everywhere, I constantly have to reenter domain name, email and password, plus wait for a code. Had to do it 3 times on the same machine today,

Unlimited storage and unlimited access. At the time it also offered a "solo" product, which then became 3 employees minimum. We now use all three, but to start with this was just a cost hike for us with no improved service. If we were to choose now, we would definitely go elsewhere.

### "Secured Sharing File and Reliable"

October 22, 2025

It is reliable for sending files (secured) and receiving large or confidential files. It got more room for improvement.

Pros

It was not pricey and the customer service is excellent and can be linked with our Microsoft Outlook which makes very handy, also knowing it makes secure file sharing. Requesting a signature is easy to use.

Cons

Users (clients) had hard time to use especially to non-techy users. And the document upload sometimes feel a bit slow, especially when handling large files.

### "Technically mature and secure product, customer service ABYSMAL!"

February 25, 2025

3.0

The product itself offers a mature, secure cloud solution for document management. Recent customer service experience \[Feb 2025\] has been abysmal! I tried changing the terms of my renewal and literally spent a day trying to track down someone, anyone, to assist. By the time someone responded, the product had renewed with no option to change. Suffice to say we are moving away from it. Get your act together, CISCO/Citrix, or whoever currently owns/manages customer service and support.

Pros

ShareFile security \[256-bit AES\] is top-notch and was the selling point for me to switch my practice over to it. Integration with both Mac OS and Windows made it a practical solution.

Cons

\- it does not integrate with virtual machines - there is a lag while sending out email in Outlook; not really sure what the connection is between ShareFile and Outlook - Customer service leaves a TON to be desired

### "Great File Server replacement for SMB companies and more"

November 20, 2025

5.0

Excellent Every company needs to have cloud storage, Sharefile allows for this in an easy to use package. I like the 3rd party separation from the big players and the extra features that you would not get from a Microsoft or Amazon.

Pros

Easy to use and Fair pricing!!! We have been using this product for over 10 years successfully!!! Keep up the good work...

Cons

Desktop app will glitch if overloaded To fix the PC would need to be rebooted, as an alternate way to access your files, the browser will always work.

### "Simple for end users, powerful for admins"

September 16, 2025

5.0

We have been using ShareFile for several years now to request data from customers migrating to our web applications. We especially like the simplicity for end users and the way data retention/link expiration works. I do think the product is a little expensive but I haven't found anything that works as well.

Pros

The simplicity for end users makes ShareFile a great choice for our business case as we have none technical staff receiving requests for data uploads.

Cons

The authentication process when logging in was a little flaky, we sometimes had to log in twice. This looks to have been updated recently.

### "Unreliable due to system availability"

March 19, 2025

1.0

The Progress Sharefile (Previous Citrux Sharefile), is unreliable in a way that it has system-wide slowdowns. Probably due to the limited resources allocated. Not for file share, but if you are using their projects. It works well in the off-season. However, right before the deadline, you keep on getting those errors and endlessly press Ctrl 5. It cripples the whole tax preparation process when you cannot retrieve data from the document requests or information requests. When you reach out to the support, they never understand the issue. In short, not a reliable product at all especially for a tax prep firm. Imagine right before the deadline struggling to get the data. The dreadful calls to clients to send the data through alternate means. Very disappointing.

Pros

The new features they introduce. (provided they work)

Cons

System availability during peak time. No document requests, information requests or projects open during peak of the tax season.

### "Competitive Cloud Storage"

September 25, 2025

5.0

Very Nice we are using this platform as a mediator with our client. we are using 20 Administrator plan and very much satisfied. 20 TB storage is good enough for small organisation and there is an option available to increase the storage space it will more beneficial in case if we require. Overall its good.

Pros

Very nice app in this era for cloud storage in average cost. Folder Management is good. We can create and share with user's ID. Its also allowing us to share with links and with proper validity. In simple words its good to go.

Cons

Responding very slow Like login and surfing in folders. As our experience with other cloud storage Sharefile take much time to for login authentication. Support team should rectify the speed and it may good to use in market if slowness remove.

### "Poor customer service"

April 30, 2024

2.0

Pros

Reasonable performance with Outlook. Avoid using with Gmail. I had to contact the tech support team multiple times to fix the Gmail plugin. It is not reliable.

Cons

The billing team is terrible. I requested a 3 license package, but they charged me for 5 licenses. I contacted them 5 times and the issue is still not resolved. I ended up having to dispute this with my credit card company. I feel like Sharefile does not care about it's customers. All the representatives say is that they cannot help me.

### "ShareFile - Easy to use file sharing and secure data storage app"

December 23, 2019

4.0

We used Sharefile to share large files (typically in Gigabytes) with our clients and internally. Earlier, we used emails and FTP for the same which is kind of very tedious task, but with Sharefile sharing large files have become an easy task and saves a lot of time.

Pros

ShareFile is one of the best platforms to share large files with your clients, vendors and even internally within your company. It allows you to organize files in different folders. To share a file, users have to upload the files into the right folder and then the user has options to give access to the files wither via a web-link or you can share an entire folder with a group of people. Files uploaded on the Sharefile account can be accessed seamlessly from any endpoint including a mobile app, desktop or web-browser. In terms of security, Sharefile is equipped with two-factor authentication and single sign-on feature. Other important features include integration with third-party software such as office 365, Microsoft outlook and Gmail via plugins which allows real-time co-editing and co-authoring of a document.

Cons

Sharefile subscriptions come with very different pricing options with varied features. So, if you go with a basic plan you would only get basic features like storage and sharing. Other plans are a little bit costly and include features like Office 365 co-editing, Gmail and Outlook plugins, encryptions, and electronic signatures. The set of features in the Sharefile mobile app is limited and allows only basic functions. Integration with third-party software such as embedded video player, Image viewer can be improved.

### "ShareFile review"

October 27, 2021

5.0

Pros

The program has a variety of advantages, such as securely exchanging data between parties and providing a shared drive for different users to exchange paperwork for business services. As a user, it's simple to use and create rights and access controls. Notifications and alerts help consumers stay on top of new information by letting them know when it's accessible.

Cons

Compared to other similar services, this software forces users to save updated versions of files every time they make changes. Several users editing on the same file simultaneously might be annoying if no one's effort overrides the others when saving the file. Also, Citrix doesn't disclose the volume (MB) of any files, but the web browser version provides, but it's less friendly than traversing the shared folder hierarchies with the Citrix addon.

### "Webhosted Data Storage"

November 13, 2018

4.0

Departments did not want to have files hosted locally due to potential server outages as we did not have a great server setup. This was achieved, but with internet outages it makes it difficult to access those files.

Pros

Sharefile at it's most basic a cloud hosted file server instead of hosting one within an office or company. It does allow also the ability to send download links, given the right permissions, for customers to upload or download specific files. Being hosted offsite, it definitely gives an upside for not having to maintain servers or an IT rack within the office.

Cons

If your outside internet connection goes down, then you have no access to your file structure. This happens to if you are a remote person trying to access an office hosted server. The other issue can be bandwidth for uploading/downloading to Sharefile. When we first started using it, it was also very slow and cumbersome, taking several times longer to upload or navigate than a locally hosted server. We also experience at least 1-2 internet downtime events a month, so people cannot access their work for certain periods of time.

### "The best for cloud file sharing"

October 19, 2021

4.0

Overall, ShareFile is very fine software and has help our organization to centralize our data at one place and not depending on the local storage device as we used before.

Pros

ShareFile gives an easy option for files transferring which user only need to upload the files, and then the public link of the file will automatically generated for us and ready to be distributed to the relevant parties. The recipient of the files is not compulsory to register account with the website to start download the file.

Cons

The software is quite slow to show all the files that i have on the cloud storage. It keep loading and takes some time to completely populate all of the files that i own. Sometimes, it just keep loading and i need to refresh the application to fix it.

### "I deployed ShareFile on my platform"

July 3, 2018

5.0

Pros

ShareFile is easy to use. The Outlook plug-in allows an easy way for customers to send secure files as well as secure emails with a few short clicks. Users are able to create their own folders and we share folders with our clients. There are templates for subfolders as well as retention periods for files. We are able to send attachments beyond Outlook's size limitations and ShareFile helps scan for potentially dangerous content. You can also control what network users access their ShareFile account. There are a lot of options available if you're looking to protect information that leaves your company.

Cons

There can be issues with downloading a lot of files at once from the browser. However; Citrix makes a ShareFile desktop app this helps speed up this process. You can turn two factor on, but you have to have each user go to their account and manually enable it. That makes us work with each user in order to enable two factor. The cost can be expensive, but we had reduced rate. Its well worth looking around for a good deal if you decide to implement ShareFile. A small downside is when a user goes to preview a password protected document, they have to download the file because ShareFile's website cannot prompt you for the password.

### "Customizable, Secure, and Beyond Simple"

November 25, 2018

5.0

We began looking for an enterprise solution to file sharing/signing and was hoping to reduce user burden by having the solution serve a host of functions. We were particularly intrigued by the prospect of secure file collaboration but this feature was not as user friendly and compared to Google docs, there was a lot lacking. While this prevented widespread implementation, several teams nonetheless still rely on sharefile. The continued acquisitions by Citrix also make one wonder how Sharefile will continue to improve/integrate over the next iterations.

Pros

Being able to send clients to a personal, branded client folder to access whatever they need (with my customized security settings and email alerts) was amazing. Also a huge fan of the send me a file link that can be embedded into email signature blocks

Cons

The 2 main shortcomings of the product are what keeps it from being an Enterprise wide solution (though it is nonetheless superb for secure document sharing and signing). I did not test the Outlook plugin, but the Gmail plugin was not nearly as easy as it was made out to be.

### "Sharefile - File sharing made easy"

January 31, 2018

4.0

Pros

Sharefile has attempted to enable the users share files larger than what their email servers support without doing anything different than the usual. They can still attach a large file using Sharefile plugin and send the mail to the recipient. It also provides an option to upload the file on their server and then share the link to the file with the intended recipients. It facilitates file access from anywhere and any device for the recipient. Files are always secured by encryption while they are stored in their servers as well as during transit. One can be in complete control of their content and change the access permissions anytime from anywhere.

Cons

It doesn't provide a feature to add another layer of protection such as 2 Way Authentication which can make the user feel more secure rather than just rely on Sharefile's security expertise. Also, it doesn't have a software client which can be installed on the machines which hampers the ability for all the contents in a folder to be in sync at all the devices.
